What Needs to Happen

WarZ needed the most help a while ago, especially after the reset.
I hope there's a smart decision made now, that Warz's had no manager for nearly 3/4 D's of a year.

 

I mean how long it's taking for the applications to be accepted/looked at?

 

Depends on the applicant. If someone applies and we see that they're active, we need to monitor their behavior, and that takes time.

But, regardless of the applicant I think it does take too long

 

The admins decide when people get promoted, not the community. Regardless of your opinions, the admin team knows more about the staff members and who is really worthy than the forum members. Let them decide on their own, don't pressure promotions.

 

Sure. And apps (both ones with 90% -1's and 80% +1's) still get left up for a long time because there's no staff manager. Not a reason to shut down discussion.

Canoodle hasn't been on since June 9. That's not called inactivity or being "away". That's called pulling a GreenPeas and leaving.

 

I believe the new team system will help with transparency a lot more and am looking forward to seeing where it goes.

However, the issue lies largely with the upper staff (specifically the admins). One has left and been away for over 2 months, another one doesn't respond to messages very often and refuses to communicate with the lower staff/community, and the other one chooses not to engage in the community at all (although he's network admin, so he doesn't really have to).

I believe once Roke and Cuddled are replaced, better replacements will come in that want to better Brawl as a whole. Being here for 3+ years, it's being shown that the current admins are either not able to perform their tasks as well as before or are unwilling to do so. Their aloofness is causing a rift between the upper and lower staff and I believe once they are replaced, Brawl will begin to be geared more towards the community again.

From my time away, I've taken a look at many other servers to see if I was over exaggerating in my critique of the staff system. My observations after a month have shown to be proving my points more than before. Other servers have a much more community-centered staff team. Their admins are very often seen ingame helping and communicating, and their staff are very quick to relay their thoughts to increase transparency. I believe this is fundamental in the servers' success.

While I have a lot of respect for cuddled and roke for sticking around, that is where my respect ends. The impression they have been showing to the community is that once you become an admin, you lose contact with the community and no longer have to be a public figure. I firmly believe that with them gone, the staff team will be able to move forward and increase the popularity of the server.

 

The problem is our upper staff team is spread too thin. Putty is busy managing all the unseen stuff, cuddled as you said is "away" (imo we need to move on from her unless she wants to come back #soon - still love ya mother cudded) and roke - he's spread too thin. He's managing loads of stuff and the teams system was supposed to fix that, but he's still managing multiple teams not to mention managing staff and basically everything else. Our SMods are pretty inactive on the management side, and we need to give them more responsibilities.

Overall I think we need to promote some people to SMod and spread each out so management isn't too thin. Our problem is promotions are hard to come by

 

I completely agree with all you have said, would also like to add on that Roke is spread too thin by his own decision. I've tried to contact him many times with help and my requests have either been brushed aside or completely ignored. I believe he is no longer fit for his job as admin and firmly stand by my belief that Brawl would benefit from replacing him with someone more willing to work with people instead of alone or against them.

 

Replace roke? That'll kill the network within weeks. Everything would fall apart. Be grateful for what he's done, after all he's volunteering ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

As of right now I don't see a replacement for Roke. He does more than you know about, and handles more things than you think you know. Not everything is shaded light, he might not respond but it doesn't mean he doesn't read it. Clearly if the ideas thrown at him aren't worth the struggle of going through, I would do the same. Only other person that works as much as him is Putty. Disagree with all your statements and Cuddled comes on TS from time to time. I have talked to her, and no she isn't just tired of being admin, shes getting older and focusing on more important things. She will be back, she has said it herself. Could be today, tomorrow, or next week. But I don't feel as if its right calling them out without 100% context of their jobs.

feather, Roke practically runs this server. (With help from chicken and some staff). Replacing him basically would result in a domino topple effect. (Unless the replacement is damn good like he is). He many not be too active ingame, but he runs the whole forums, basically. I'm sorry but I'm going to have to disagree. Roke=cool.

Oh, and if I had to vote for a CTF Smod, I'd probably go for @Miskey. He's active enough, sets maps willingly, organises some map events and helps a lot with Ctf matches. My vote goes to @Miskey

 

Sounds like she's moving on. Would be nice to have some clarity on that instead of putting dozens of applications in limbo for two weeks -> two months. Unfair to the people applying and dumps too much responsibility on smods and Roke

I mean Roke replies to (most) of my DM's within a day or two. Except that one time when I asked if I could write the Brawl News #ripthedream #FakeNews

Brawl is infinitely more geared toward the community than it was when Chap was owner. Dude logged on a tenth as much as putty does and (almost never) engaged in community discussions. Hell, he even blocked new messages on his profile. Putty replies to discussions and allows profile posts, even though 90% of them are attention whoring/trolling, while frequently posting announcements and coding some small updates for CTF (and probably other servers I'm not involved in). The owner, coding updates for a server. Now that is some cool sh*t

Munchy is also a lot smaller than Brawl. Also upper staff "communicating" on Munchy isn't suprising. BBH, Munchy's owner, is so egotistical he probably gets off to people dm'ing him in game lmao

Yeah, they're admins. Of course they're not going to be super involved in community discussions etc. etc. they've got enough stuff to do dealing with rule-breakers, other staff who (might) be causing issues, backend server management, testing, advertising, and so on. They also, as you know, get swarmed with stupid sh*t on a daily basis by randoms who think you're God cause you've got a red tag. No wonder putty has dms turned off on discord

Agree that Cuddled should, at the very least, be temporarily replaced (@18kss, chillest SMOD ever) for reasons stated above. Disagree on Roke. As everyone else ^^ has said, he's done a ton for the server. So what if he's being a prick and won't do a #RockReveal2k17? Not a reason to demote

although replacing him with a forum bot might be a good idea @Iosif_Stalin
