Is Hardcore gamemode dead?

HG died on McPvP due to poor management, and died on Brawl due to a toxic community.

This is why we need to completely revamp HG into something new and not listen to the old community as much as I usually would do: if the old HG community takes a crap on everything Brawl does, there's no point in trying to make them happy anymore.

Yeah but they don't even play on Brawl, they just complain in the comments section on YouTube. Also most of the "HG is dead" stuff are discord/slack memes so that's what I was referring to

That's an opinion and a fairly pointless post. Could say the same for war lmao.

It's too dead, just remove it and keep it as an event. It's fun to play with 30+ people, boring if it's a small game.

A large amount of the people I see complaining the current state of HG don't really play it too much. I think the best solution would be to either make regular hours when people have many of their friends come to play (which is how HG is best played or most enjoyed as its not exactly the most fun gamemode to play by yourself :v)
I managed to get 18+ players to join myself, @MattM1PVP, and @_ExtrasPvP_ with a 5 minute notice simply by saying in chat on the gamemode I play "Come join /play hg 2!" one time. It was extremely fun to do every once in a while, but I think asking for a consistent player base at the time being is not something anyone can look at in the near future.
Here are some ideas to try and get a community again.
1. Attempt at getting your friends to join for a match every day or every other day. This would give an opportunity for people to experience a match of HG with several players, and also with friends in order for them to be taught and not completely lost in each match.
2. Consider perhaps making suggestions such as feasts more common and easier to locate. Currently the HG matches take a very long time. It can be extremely fun, but when you compare it to the most popular and most commonly played "alive" servers, a gamemode that takes time, is gamemode thats dead. Make it more fast paced. People would enjoy it more.
3. Once you have a community talk to them all and brainstorm and make an update doc, come up with simple things that can be done to make the gameplay better.
4. Stop clinging to the past. The biggest problems with most gamemodes that I have seen, is that the community and people who are complaining about dead their gamemodes all speak of "Oh, we need to make it the way it was a long time ago!" "We all enjoyed it when it was slow and took and hour to complete a match!" "We need to keep it to the old ways, because people want that more!"
Nope! This very clearly doesn't work. We can't keep holding on to the past. Period. Holding on to the past has been what we have done, and each time we attempt to bring stuff back to the way it was a long time ago, it simply dies. HG will not be revived by making it the way it was a long time ago. We need to all wake up. Recognize this fact.

HG is dead.

HG the way we all loved is gone. It will never be what it once was. Why haven't we all seen past this?
We need something NEW. The old ways are over. Make it more pot related, make chests more common, make the kits a little more easy to get, give us suggestions. Something! Telling and speaking about how dead it is does nothing.
Here's one thought to end this:
Maybe a Hardcore gamemode isn't what we want? Hardcore isn't FUN. Make HG fun again, don't make it "great".
Before you all throw a fit and flame me read through this more than one time, don't rage at me before you consider what I have said.
Feel free to yell at me all you want about how wrong I am, but you had best come up with some ideas to counter what I have said.

I'm agreeing with all these ideas. Brawl should make a /broadcast for the staff to use so players will be notified when a HG game is starting. And currently @MattM1PVP and I are currently trying to get a hg halloween tournament to boast up the player count.

I don't think brawl should shut down Hg just yet , as Hg does not have a developer. Who knows the player base might shoot up after the revamp

HG doesn't have any more players now, though.

I don't see the point in shutting down HG considering the cost of running it is negligible, but if we need more server space or it starts costing us to run it for whatever reason, it should be shut down until the revamp. Especially considering the revamp is of lowest priority right now unfortunately.

I'm going to start doing stuff like this every weekend or so - just informal HG events whenever there's a lot of players on the network, or other times when it'd make sense. I don't have access to /broadcast, but Putty's told me in the past that SMods can announce informal HG events that I host. Just haven't got round to doing it yet.
