I'd prefer an EU proxy and a US one so it's fair for most people but that's not gona happen. People are just going to vote for the place where they live so it's a pretty pointless poll. Most people live in America so I guess they should keep it there.

The last time we switched hosts (years ago), Brawl was down for 3 weeks. Why would we risk that again; what would we gain from switching hosts?

Less lag, complains by players, etc.

If you move the host, it's going to give a better connection for some, and worse for others - Whats the overall gain? Most of Brawl's players are American, so it does make sense to have it based near there, which it currently is (Canada).

See, this is where a large part of the issue at hand (please don't take this personally).
I am, as most of you know, a Soup/Steak player, not a gun-game player. The gun gamemodes are much less influenced by player lag than Soup gamemodes.
I played the Raid End Of The Map event against @PingWoo. He really lived up to his name - since he lives in the US (as far as I know), he took very little knockback and had a massive reach advantage on me. This makes Raid, KitBrawl and HG personally unfair towards EU players. I remember a game of HG I played a few weeks ago against someone from Quebec, and it felt like we were having an Anchor fight. I take little KB because I use anti-KB techniques and have high CP/S, but if a player had my skills and had not 125ms but 40ms, they'd be unbeatable.
This is why, personally, gun gamemode players can't really complain/get involved (again please don't take it personally - it's my opinion and I'll only have you deported if you go against me) in a discussion like this.

Generally speaking I'd LOVE a proper host who doesn't get lag as soon as a few more packets (be it from PvP on Raid or Phantoms flying in HG) arrive.

I'm going to have to vote for 'no'. Not because I don't like the idea, but the host is pretty ok the way it is.

However, if for some reason the hosting area isn't working, like a satellite burn-out or something like that (I don't know that much about this topic tbh) and the connection is terrible, THEN we could get a new host. But for the time being, I think it's fine the way it is.

I understand, I have the same issue on other servers where I PVP. But I'm not sure if it's worth a 3 week downtime, a downtime that long can really hurt a server's player count.

What I meant was less server lag, take raid as an example, when raid gets over 40 players wiht some PvP action, the game speed is at about 40-50%.

I am from Cali, but I don't get the best connection, I get 100-300ms or more. I always lag no matter what. Host is a big issue but oh well yah know. I don't play much anymore due to host and doing lame adult things. Idc if they change host all up to you guys.

I'm not much in the way of technology, but that doesn't have to do with the location of the server. It's more of a global thing that could be anywhere. Of course some locations have better internet than others, but the 'first world' locations mostly have Wi-Fi that's near the same.
And I've been on other servers before (anonymous ones), and they have the exact same problem; more players+more pvp=more lag. So it's not just Brawl.
Interesting idea, but it's going all right as it is.

How do we know that the new host is better than the current one?

Switching host costs time that can be put into something better.

Honestly, a more reliable host is one of the best investments a server can make. It's all about image, and a player will probably stay with the server that doesn't lag or crash quickly, no?

Not true. You wouldn't unbeatable if you had lower ping, often higher ping is very op as it means you can get delayed hits which makes it look like reach and your kB is later meaning you have more time to get hits in before you get out of reach. You kinda seem a bit arrogant here ngl, Ur not that good at PvP no offense.

That is just because brawl uses a cheap, poor quality hosting service, they don't need to move it, infancy moving it would do nothing for server lag. In order to increase server lag they would need to update their server hosting services.

I never said that they should move it, I said that they should get a new host because the one there is now is trash and if players would like to get it moved then move it.

Fine, not unbeatable, fine fine. But you get my message I think.
I have 130ms and yet can get very good hits on people with more/less ms - once that goes below 70ms though it becomes hard for people like me. My knockback doesn't really seem that delayed funnily enough - that's apparently due to 1.8 but I'm not convinced.
    Also *you're/you are
