Yeah but you know, you can go to a hospital, and kill all the babies, that's not a crime because they go to heaven. You're even helping them, can you imagine them becoming sinners, and going to hell for that? Killing newborns is a brilliant idea.

This is the difficulty in being part of a religious debate on Brawl. The majority of Brawl players, at least on the forums, are Atheists or Agnostics. As seen from the last debate what inevitably happens is the argument will turn into a 1 v 5 2 v 7, with the religious being in the minority. The nonbelievers will criticize it, which is fine, but then they will then start agreeing with each other thereby affirming their own beliefs. That is one, albeit peculiar, advantage they have in this debate.

Tbh, I was hoping that there wouldn't be another one of these threads as it is pretty unproductive, and seems to turn Agnostics into Atheists. To paraphrase a great quote, "The worst people to defend Christianity, are Christians." G.k Chesterton

I have to admit that I was quite surprised since the documents I've found on this said the opposite (on a national scale in developped countries ...). But after looking at some statistics, actually I think it is right, If we look at a map of the index of the importance of religion (I dont't know how it's calculated tho) and compare it to the map of the fertility rate, we can see that the incomming generations will be more religious on a world scale, because they will be born in a religious society.
    The maps:

Thanks for the source, very interesting article.

I don't know Islam very well, I know a lot of muslims since they are the second biggest demographic where I live, but religion is something very personal for them, they don't talk about it very much. I've however heard things on the Koran, like that killing people disobeying to the Koran was mentionned. I don't know if it's true or not tho. When the attacks of charlie hebdo happened, they where open to discussion and even if they wheren't saying "je suis Charlie" because they didn't wanted to support the drawings of Mahomet, they obviously where against the killing of the cartoonists.

To summarize I don't really know Islam, but it doesn't seem like a religion of acceptance at first sight. I do however know many muslims who live in Europe, and they adhere occidental values so I have no problem with them (from a social point of view).

@Knaber There's no caption on the map, what is it?

Edit: I saw the name of the file... Does education have an impact on IQ or is it just a way of measuring cognitive performance?

That's what happens if you join a sh-tty branch of Christianity (spoiler alert: most are pretty dumb) :b

    LMAO

GEHENNA, TRYING TO DOWNPLAY GENOCIDE: "what was he supposed to do?"

In other news, we've decided Hitler was an OK person. I mean what was he supposed to do?
Also Stalin and Mao were pretty chill. I mean, what were they supposed to do?

Maybe God shouldn't have MADE humans to be so rape-y and pillage-y. He's omnipotent, he has a vast array of things he could've done to fix the problem other than KILLING EVERYONE. It's just so goddamn nuts that you'd try and defend God as "kind" and "just" when he literally committed the biggest mass-murder in the history of the planet.

Da fuq do you mean we all share equal blame? What am I to be blamed for?

On the topic of Satan - the whole idea of Satan is ridiculous. You want to have a God who is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient... essentially unstoppable. Yet you want him to have an adversary? If God really cared about what Satan's doing he'd just obliterate Satan. God can do anything.

remove kebab is a great meme

on another note, you guys wanna dive into some crazy things Gehenna has said as a result of his beliefs? Really makes you ponder what good can come out of Christianity if it has people saying stuff like

    "Humans hunted dinosaurs to extinction"
"if there were no God, I would maybe molest some people, since there's no one to hold me accountable"
"because all sins are just as bad as each other, we're all as bad as Hitler"

this is your brain on religion

I already said that our sins have us anchored to Hell.
Look at the Ten Commandments. How many have you broken? I'll tell you what, I've certainly broken all of them myself, and I bet you have as well. Now, I certainly haven't literally killed anyone (on stealing, I guess I have stolen some candy from a store before), you as well. But, you don't have to literally kill someone to be a murderer when the Bible says "Hate is murder in the heart." We've all hated someone at some point in our lives, even for a brief moment. So, do you think murderers should be allowed in heaven?
Only by believing in Jesus can wash away the stain of sin.
God's not going to force people to ask for forgiveness. That is up to them. Who did I exactly say doesn't deserve Hell? God's not going to allow people who haven't accepted Jesus into Heaven. They are dirty. They haven't been cleaned. They would plague the paradise that is Heaven. God's not going to allow that to happen again.

    1. "Our sins anchor us to Hell"

stop stop stop trying to make it sound like God isn't sending us to Hell. We're anchored to Hell are we? Well who put that anchor there? Could it be the all-powerful guy who made the universe?

    2. "Hate is murder in the heart"

this is basically thought crime from 1984. I will not apologise for my thoughts and neither should you. They are private and they are my freedom.

    3. "god's not gonna allow unbelievers into heaven"

so it's a choice between believing in something without evidence or suffering for eternity in a made-up place? oof

Except God had a plan for those children, and the chance for them to do great things in life was taken away.
Hitler, Mao, and Stalin pretty much all thought they were God.

"God made me do that" isn't an acceptable excuse for doing something when you clearly had full control of your actions. What do you think God should have done to stop their terror? Mind-control? I already told you that's a big no-no in God's book.
If He personally came down and told everyone to stop their evil, I highly doubt they would've listened to Him.

You're a sinner, just like everyone else. We're in this boat together.

Satan has free will as well. He was, after all, the first sinner. In the Garden of Eden, God did disable Satan by forcing him to crawl on his belly and eat dust for all his days. He is also cursed above all other animals. So, Satan is having a crappier time here on Earth than any human being. He might as well be in Hell.

    1. We have a choice, either accept God's gift of eternal life though Jesus or don't. It's OUR choice. Not God's

    2. Not to God. You are God's business. He knows everything you do.

    3. I find it sad that people need evidence to really believe something. Sure, evidence can strengthen our faith, but according to what Jesus said when one of His disciples doubted His resurrection, "Blessed are those who believe but have not seen."
All we really have is some logical evidence.

    1. It's not a choice if you're being threatened with eternal suffering. That's extortion, that's a threat.

    2. So I am his property? This is one of my big problems with Christianity - it's so authoritarian. I am not anyone's business apart from the government that I VOTE in and even then they should have limited power over me. It seems that Christians aren't really free if you're always being watched by God...

    3. you think the entire scientific process is sad? gehenna honestly i have to ask what the f--k is wrong with you when you say that it's actually sad to need evidence to believe something. Tell me, if evidence is unnecessary for belief then how do we tell what's true? I tell you that I'm a space man from Mars and it would be "sad" to need evidence to believe it... so you should just believe it yes? Goddamn Gehenna stop being so detached from reality
