You're completely misunderstanding my views on morality. Yes, we all decide for ourselves what's right and wrong. But that doesn't mean we can't judge others for our morality. I decide that I think killing Jews is wrong. Hitler decides he thinks it's OK. That doesn't mean that I'm not allowed to judge him and call him a terrible person.

I'm not making a strawman of Christian fundamentalist positions - I'm responding to what Gehenna says. It's not a strawman when he literally says this retarded stuff.

On the topic of what I'm trying to do here - I'm less concerned about religion as a whole and more with creationism and certain extreme aspects of Gehenna's beliefs.

I never said anything like that.
    1. Not human. In fact, never existed, in my book.

    2. I could go deeper into genetic research to hold up my point of view, but I'm not going to put a lot of time into something like that. I like to come up with answers from within my head and shallow searching.

Would you consider "building an immunity" as evolution? That's what bacteria seems to do when resisting antibiotics.

I couldn't find anything on what I said, but I found the other way around.

Low key worried about all these people basically saying they only have morals because god is watching

If I knew I wouldn't get caught I still wouldn't kill someone because that would weigh on me for the rest of my life. I would have to live with the fact that I took a precious life, I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror.

You don't have to kill somebody to do evil. There are the other things like stealing, lying, adultery, insulting, etc.

    1. Neanderthals existed. How can you deny this? We have numerous fossils.
    2. This is your problem. How can you be so fervently anti-evolution in this face of so much evidence, when you're not gonna be bothered to actually think hard about it and look at research?

If it's a HEREDITARY immunity, yes that's evolution. If I develop an immunity to the common cold but my kids don't have it, that's not evolution that's just me being lucky. But if it passes on to my kids then that's a process of evolution. Ya got it?

    1. How do we know neanderthal skulls are neanderthals? They could just be humans. Humans could've been larger in ancient times. I look at the neanderthal skulls, and they look like negroid (black people) skulls. I'm not trying to be funny or racist. Black people have larger skulls than other races.

    2. It's not a huge priority for me to try to disprove evolution. Besides, I know how swamped we are by the opposition.

Well, you do develop an immunity to the common cold each time you get it. I've been told there's 80 strands of it. So, the cold becomes more rare each time you get it.

I'm still going to remain agnostic here, but I'm just curious about something...

If Noah built an ark and saved 2 of each animal, what did the animals eat? Animals eat other animals.

Noah is depicted as white, so where did all these other races come from? If god just recreated the rest of the races why did he make Noah build the ark in the first place? Couldn't he have just wiped them out himself and recreated another set of Adam and Eve?

Adam and Eve were presumably white, so how did the other races come into play then? Where there different racial variants of Adam and Eve that weren't in the story? Why were they left out?

Looking for an answer from a knowledgeable christian.

I still think it's possible for some sort of divine being to exist that we are unable to understand, because if we can't fathom its existence, we would never know it existed. Trying to argue against or for the existence of a deity is completely pointless. We will never actually know unless it reveals itself. It's just like before the Big Bang/Creation. What was before that? Nobody can truly know right now because we simply cannot understand it.

    1. This is an AMAZING display of ignorance, even from you Gehenna. Neanderthals are NOT humans. The skulls are clearly different, as are other bones and count archaeologists and biologists have confirmed this. You can deny evolution Gehenna, but you can't deny physical evidence. I believe you're not trying to be racist but trust me - Neanderthals are clearly a different species, any way you measure it.

Noah must have stocked supplies. Dried meats and plants can last for a long time. Some animals might have reproduced while on the ark. It was 10 months they were on the ark.

I don't think Noah had light skin. He may have had olive-toned skin. The other skin tones and appearances may be the result of genetic mutations.
Why punish the only good group of humans along with the rest of the world?

Same thing I said about Noah.

Our utilization of science is limited and materialistic. Therefore, we can't understand or observe things that are in the realm of God.
God has revealed Himself to us through the Bible, and He literally came down to the Earth as Jesus. Of course, lots of people have said they are God, but only Jesus made a real impact on the world.

I only believe what I physically observe. Our brains make us see pasterns where there are none. Until I physically observe it I don't agree or disagree, I remain neutral (I don't really believe or reject the idea). (I also see almost all religions as equal). And for the most part people I know that are religious tend to say god is behind everything they can't explain. It is OK not to know things and just say you don't know.

^^ If everyone thought like this, the world would be a MUCH better place.

However unfortunately a lot of religious people are hostile or closed-minded to such ideas, so I need to take a stronger stance on my atheism.

How can we be sure He didn't? In a secular understanding, we have a neutral status on the situation.
Why do I choose the "God" side over the "no God" side? I have experienced things that are unexplainable. Things that I identify as divine intervention. Plus, I can't grasp how all this just happened. I mean, the way the big bang happened and how everything is perfectly in place and running like clockwork without intelligence behind it all just doesn't make sense to me. It's like throwing a bunch of Legos on the ground and somehow they pile on each other to form New York City.

what do you mean the universe is running like clockwork

are you aware entropy is increasing and heat death is inevitable? the universe is a fked up place, man.

also why do you think God has intervened in your life but didn't do anything to stop the holocaust

have you ever seen a billion dollars in person? just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist

I personally believe there's something out there bigger than us but I don't go around trying to convert everybody. just learn to respect others beliefs, you can't make everybody see your way Gehenna you need to learn that

    observation =/= sight

I've heard people say that I never physically saw my great-great-grandfather but I know he existed... it's the same with God. Which is a retarded line of argument.

and yeah I know it's kinda futile but hey a) it's fun and b) there is no b
