If you're gonna make build assets, make them good, please.

The point of schematics is for players to add things to their builds they don't know how to build, or to use the schematics as ideas or inspiration for their own builds. These are two builds that you based this thread on, and while they are not the best, I know plenty of builds in the schematics that are excellent.

There might have been a problem with configuring the schematic for the airship, which can be fixed.

Thing is, we weren't aware that assets on mcbuild was a planned update... The schematics were taken from a world on the bt server, where we store random stuff from houses to cars. Some of them obviously look crappy and rushed since the build team didn't build them for this reason.

 

Just to make things clearer, the build team didn't individualy built each asset, the assets (or at least most of them) were taken from maps built by the build team. Of course if you ask a build team member to make a stone path or an airship, it's not gonna look like this.
The first time I tried the assets, I loaded the "airship" and I gotta admit that it was not what I was expecting ... still gave me quite a laugh.

Well, for instance, take someone making a little city, if they want to bring more life to their map, they can add a few cars from the assets. That's how it's meant to be used, and how I see it being used too. I don't think people would just spawn some assets as if they built it.
And for the "they didn't design it", well it's minecraft, you're already using things you didn't make (textures for instance) to create new things with it, same thing with the assets. I know this is kindof a poor comparison, but it's just to put things in perspective.
I agree that it won't really help people to get better at building tho. But I also don't think it was the point of the database.

I think Gala said the schems were meant to be easy pastes to make an RP world or something. Tbh woulda just wanted an update with Voxel instead of this stuff

 

Having Build assets gives new inexperienced builders something to look up to, use it and make similar things out of it, trying to improve themselves as they go on.
Of course there are exceptions of very simple and rushed builds but I can see why this is so from what others said.

I can agree on the “claim as theirs” part but since everyone has access to them, they should know that this is an asset and not something a player claims to have built.

That might be mistakenly messed up with the Bill Cipher asset.

Nevertheless, I believe build assets were made to give amateur builders things to add on their worlds.
