Disclaimer: These are simply rough ideas I’ve found from old documents, threads, and discussions I’ve made; they are not polished, balanced nor complete. I haven’t played this game in ~ a year, so please bear with me if some of my logic is lost to what Raid’s player base feels of the game . These are just my opinions, so don’t get your willy in a knot, thanks.

After observing Raid as an outsider for the past several months and trying to get back into it within the last week or so, I have noticed that A LOT is wrong with the server and that it has lost a ton of players, and most importantly, the fun of it. After talking with several people, we could agree that Raid is no longer the fun, fresh and exciting server it once was. To me, the whole idea of Raid just seems old fashioned and boring it needs a complete rework in my opinion and needs to freshen up the entire gamemode. A rework of it should focus on the things that people love, such as pvp, tracking and team competition, while also bringing in new aspects that make Raid truly unique compared to any other server out there. This, in theory, should spice up the same, monotonous server that’s essentially been the same for years now. The (dedicated) player count has just been declining even since when I was still staff, and something huge needs to happen to Raid to restore it. Note: I do realize that reworking the gamemode will make some players quit, however, it will be better in the long run **if and only if** sufficient advertising is done to promote this new, unique survival server. With this being said, I guess I’ll get into my proposal.

    • Goal: Give incentive for players exploring features in the game and promote activity / dedication
    • XP earned by completing custom quests such as building a tracker, killing end dragon, collecting 1k gold, etc
    • Rewards given per level earned, with milestones giving extra special rewards
      • Rewards could be gold, exclusive gear, etc
      • Milestone rewards could be special tag / name appearance, extra warp, exclusive crate or something like that
    • Goal: High team competition and commitment, high advertising feature
    • Have a “season” ranking system where the season / map will last a specific amount of time
      • Each team will earn points by killing other teams, claiming bounties, and raiding
      • Team points will also be achieved by individual player scores (ie gold, etc)
      • More details below
    • Goal: Promote raiding, tracking, and competition
    • Each player will be able to summon a “core” that will allow them to instantly warp from a personal warp set
      • This core will be deleted if the warp is deleted, and set if a warp is set
      • If another team destroys your core, your team will have their points stolen and given to the team who broke your core
      • You or your team mate cannot break your own core
    • To avoid “farming” of raid points, you can only break one person’s core every 72 hours (think of more ways to prevent farming)
    • Make farming points of any type having your team disqualified from the contest + have an easy way to track this.
    • The team with the most points will win an actually valuable prize at the end of the season (cash or something)
    • This will attract people very well if the prize is something externally valuable
    • Goal: Promote rivalry and pvp
    • Use a command to set a bounty on a player, and have another command to track current bounties (+ see new spawn section)
      • Bounties would essentially be paying someone to go and kill them for you by using gold
      • Bounties will fail after X amount of days, returning the gold to the person who set it if their victim wasn’t killed
      • Shows the bounty on the person similar to ROGUE on WW
    • Todo: find ways to prevent farming of this or sneaky ways to claim it (possible?)
    • Goal: Keep things fresh, exciting, and competitive
    • Have events every 2-3 days similar to Koths that will have a /event warp to them or something
      • Prizes / loot gained, and team points for winners
      • Last man standing, breach the fort against OP mobs, tower race thing, etc
      • End cartel capture
        • Whoever captures the cartel for the longest time of the day wins points per day
        • Yes, people could afk here, but you can just warp and kill them, perhaps bringing more pvp to the end
    • Make the end custom if possible to have features that promote pvp and activity there in general
    • Goal: Provide income for Brawl + make ranks actually valuable
    • If possible, say **** EULA and have all rank info in spawn instead
      • Have a kit command (not as often or OP as factions, but still worth something)
      • /Portal command to transfer dimensions easily
      • Saving % of xp on death
      • Etc.
    • Individually purchased, monthly allowance of them with ranks, prizes for things
      • Different tiers of them with different loot
      • Monthly ones, more expensive / valuable ones etc, "series" such as pvp pack, etc
    • Note: People love crate keys; they are fun to open, and somewhat addictive definitely need to add them (can you get away with naming them “cosmetic keys”?)
    • Sick animations for warping (like skins if you will)
    • Purchase boss fights
      • Custom bosses that have epic loot and are fun to fight
    • Purchasable events
    • Update koths somehow
      • Do research to see why people complain / suggestions
    • See if there is a way to update tracking
      • Make easier to learn and more interactive maybe?
      • Add an ingame calculator for math / coord stuff
        • Major source of frustration for people learning it
          • Damn degenerates (I’M KIDDING)
    • Rework Boosters
      • Uninteractive, generic, and not too valuable atm
    • /Base command
      • One time use to create a small starter sky base for noobs to be informed + have a starting point in the game
      • Spawn resets daily up to 500 blocks out, then have another 250 out from there that resets weekly
      • The 250 area is where the sky bases would be
      • Equipped with a bed, furnace, etc but most importantly signs explaining what to do
    • Have a “glade” sense of spawn
      • Safe haven full of resources
      • Have a farm with food (replenishing like the WW crops)
        • Helps noobs a bit / takes away from some of the boring grind of MC
    • Black smith
      • Minor custom enchanted tools sold here
        • Spend X amount of gold to gain the enchantment
          • Ie a pickaxe that digs a 3x1 area for you, Axe that cuts entire trees down, armour that gives fire resistance etc
    • Bounty hunter cantina
      • Yes, star wars
      • Have a place visible for all bounties set and the prices for each person
      • Perhaps you need to bring the players head (which will drop with the bounty set) to claim the prize
      • MUST have music playing in it
      • Mainly for fun, not anything serious
    • Other features to the spawn?
    • Make exiting the “glade” dangerous
      • Can’t just walk back in
      • Traps maybe outside, pvp enabled etc

Thank you for reading my post. I hope some discussion can be made about it - I am open to hearing other suggestions working off of mine and would love to hear if the feelings I'm facing with Raid right now are shared. Again, please be aware that these are just rough, incomplete ideas, and that this is a REWORK of the entire Raid idea - old principles and ideas are NOT the focus of this proposal - creating a fun and new survival server is. I understand if this is not a popular idea, but again, this is my opinion on the current status of Raid.

    Cheers.

Ok, first of all, welcome back.

Now, my opinions about your ideas:
    • Player leveling system: Sounds like an awesome idea, +1. I definitely want this added!

    • Team point / ranking system: I like the concept of the idea, however, this would provoke people to kill noobs, which isn't good for brawls playercount. If you'd remove that kills give you points you'd have my +1.

    • Player bounty: I don't think that there's a way to prevent people from farm bounties, so there would be no point on setting a bounty on someone (except if it's tracking bounties) +0.5.

    • Random events: Yes, we definitely need more events, +1

    • Updated ranks:
      • Kits: I don't really know what I feel about kits, maybe an iron kit once every two weeks for whitenames, once a week for VIP's, twice a week for MVP's and 3 times a week for ELITE's. That would improve the PvP aspect of the game.
      • Portal command: Not really necessary, because they can just set a warp at each dimension, and where would people end up if they did (e.g) /nether?
      • Saving XP on death: +1
    • Keys: There should definitely be a limit on how many keys a person can purchase every month (or week), otherwise people could just buy a lot of keys and get rich way to easy. There should be a small chance of receiving a rank when you open keys.
      • A possible reward could be these custom "warp cosmetics"
    • Random Purchases:
      • Warp animations: +1, would be cool.
      • Boss fights: I don't know, seems a bit like too much pay to win, I'd rather have you spending gold on boss fights, great idea though.
      • Purchasable events: Could you explain what type of events you mean?
    • KOTH: Thanks for the idea, I'll start a survey right away!

    • Tracking: It's already quite easy to understand, you just need an in-depth tutorial in-game.

    • Rework boosters: How would you rework them?

    • Base command: Should be implemented, however, this should only be able to be used once, and last forever (not reset once a week, that would lead to noobs losing their stuff and quit). The base would be spawned in at random coords (with no other warp from another player within 500 blocks or so).

    • Safe: I'll give my opinion on this one later.

    • Farm: What's wrong with the pig-spawner?

    • Blacksmith: -1, custom enchants shouldn't be a part of raid, it makes farming way to easy and ruins PvP.

    • Bounty hunter cantina: Seems unnecessary, and how would all bounties be able to fit in there?

    • Can't walk back in: +1

Purchasable events: Could you explain what type of events you mean?
    - Things such as koths, the random events etc, perhaps more unique ones could be made tho if anyone has ideas

Bounty hunter cantina: Seems unnecessary, and how would all bounties be able to fit in there?
    - Just have a wall with the heads on them, or even better, an NPC with their skin on a platform or something
    - could sort them with highest bounty, recent, and soon to expire or something
    - I don't see it being filled with bounties at a time, as it would cost a significant amount of gold after a while
    - Again, mainly for fun and creating a rivalry against someone

Farm: What's wrong with the pig-spawner?
    - I feel like a farm inside of the "glade" would be more thematically fitting, plus it would provide a little extra support leaving spawn, as you could start up your own farm easier as a noob

Base command: Should be implemented, however, this should only be able to be used once, and last forever (not reset once a week, that would lead to noobs losing their stuff and quit). The base would be spawned in at random coords (with no other warp from another player within 500 blocks or so).
    - I suggested this on another thread, and anon made a good point that the map could be littered with bases if it is contained within a certain area, this reset would prevent it + having multiple signs within the little base would make sure the noob would be informed that their base is resetting soon. I personally don't care if there are multiple bases around, as it would be sorta fun to have a village of noobs. And yes, this would 100% be a one time use command

Rework boosters: How would you rework them?
    - No clue, but they suck imo. They are pretty boring, and I never really liked them when we released them originally, it was more so just a "whatever, slap this on" type of thing
Blacksmith: -1, custom enchants shouldn't be a part of raid, it makes farming way to easy and ruins PvP.
    - I do agree, however, I think we need to move past the "raid" aspect. Essentially, this should be a 'new' server. I think adding a few enchants / more so custom tools would be beneficial because people are lazy af and this might help them to stay and feel better about actually making a project. Example, trackers could be made a lot faster with a super pickaxe as described in my post. If they are really expensive, I think it would be ok, as you couldn't repair it if it is a custom tool.

Player bounty: I don't think that there's a way to prevent people from farm bounties, so there would be no point on setting a bounty on someone (except if it's tracking bounties) +0.5.
    - Agreed. I absolutely love the idea of bounties, but this issue is something I cannot see a solution for. Perhaps other servers have a way around it? Maybe I'll look into it. A possible idea though is setting requirements to claim a bounty. Ie needing to be on a team for X amount of weeks, X amount of gold, and X amount of playtime on the server so that you couldn't just hop onto another team or have an alt kill you if it was placed on you. Also, since it is player gold going to someone, and not spawning resources, I think this solution might work, although it is quite complicated :u

Tracking: It's already quite easy to understand, you just need an in-depth tutorial in-game.
-Well, yes, it is easy to understand but some people just can't get over the math, or the "Did I actually do it?? Why aren't they here???" and just having a tutorial for it might not be enough for someone to stick to it. Maybe if there was an output system that said something along the lines of "player is no longer within range", or "player south of this direction" when you track someone down a single arm on your tracker. Once you learn tracking, you basically have this knowledge already, so I don't see this as being too easy or anything. I would also add a feature to disable this, but have it on by default, as it would help noobs, but would be annoying to people already experienced in tracking.

Team point / ranking system: I like the concept of the idea, however, this would provoke people to kill noobs, which isn't good for brawls playercount. If you'd remove that kills give you points you'd have my +1.
    - Yes fair enough. I think if maybe we had a "Noob" rank / status for the first X amount of hours spent on the server it might solve this, as it wouldn't count them for kills during this time, and could be used to give more information and whatever. Removing kills would be a possibility too, however, I would like pvp to have an incentive some how. Another possibility could be setting a requirement of a KDR > X needed to count towards the points. So if you have a KDR of say 0.04, you wouldn't count for points, but someone with say a 4.8 one would count.

    Bounty hunter cantina:
There should be a limit, e.g. only the 10 highest bounties show. +1, however this is not something that developers/staff should focus on in the first place.

    Farm:
Agreed, but this would take up a lot of space - which would cause the spawn to be huge - which would be a problem if you're trying to track someone down at spawn.

    Base command:
    Fair point, +1.

    Rework boosters:
I might do a research on this one too, ty for the idea aha.

    Blacksmith:
If they cost a huge amount of gold or that you could get them in crates, that could work. This would also make it funnier to raid storage vaults since they might contain a rare OP weapon.

    Player bounty:
Yes, that might work, and maybe make it bannable to bypass the bounty system? I mean, if a staff member spots an alt kill his main for bounty, the player who broke the rule will get a 7-day ban.

    Tracking:
+1, should be easily toggleable with /trackertips or something.

    Team point / ranking system:
The noob rank needs to be brought back, not only does it help people like me (that like to get noobs started) to find those players, it also will make most stronger players less aggressive towards the newer players.

The KDR idea is great imo, how would you prevent kill farming (when a player kills an alt that has high KDR (KDR isn't that hard to get) to get points) though? Making it bannable would work but that would be a lot of extra work for staff.

I agree with a lot of your comments. The issues for farming could be tracked quite easily, as xraying is done that way through diamond ores being mined. With Raid being focused on the high competition and reward at the end, I think it would be a lot more popular, and more staff would be on it, thus leading to more moderation of these nitty gritty things.

As for the spawn thing, I kinda want a huge, open spaced common ground that looks epic. The ones now are cool, but I feel a larger one would host a better epic first impression

My thoughts on the ideas proposed:

    Player Level System

    • Rewards - I love the idea behind it, we could mix it up and give players XP and/or Gold for completing major milestones. This could include: creating a team, completing vanilla achievements, using the /track command, small simple things like that to give players not only an idea of what to do in the server but also keep them going. Personally though, don't think tags/extra warps would work, gold + xp is good imo.
    Team Point / Ranking System
    • Don't really like the idea of it, seems much too complicated and for HCF servers. Also would just further push the usual "top two teams" or maybe even one team completely dominating in this area. Overall +/- 0.
    Raid Points
    • Similar to the team points idea, sounds a lot like HCF and I really don't like the idea of having an external prize, maybe in-game prizes or ranks. The core would also be annoying for base builds (skybases, very small vaults, trackers, etc.). -1.
    Player Bounties
    • I think this would heavily encourage PvP, but there are some issues that arise such as targetting, and preventing players from targetting a specific player constantly. With some changes we could make it work - such as: 100 minimum bounty (can't be from teammate), with a week time to claim. Also, if the player avoids being killed maybe he/she could get a percentage of the gold? Overall, +0 with some work I'd be all for it.
    Random Events
    • Big +1, I've always wanted lots of random events, and a lot of it is possible. Just need an SMod who has access to creative/WE. These would be more mini/unofficial events, but they would be fun and keep players online. There are however plans for a more "official" event revolving around the end.
    Ranks
    • +1, always wanted more things for ranks. The ones that specifically stuck out to me that I could see working include: /portal command to transfer dimensions easily, saving % of xp on death, and warp animations. On your note about violating the EULA, I would be against it. Definitely not worth the risk or pissing off Mojang even more.
    • Crate Keys - This was a big idea when you were still SMod, I would be okay with it. However, it would violate the EULA, other then this +1.

    Misc.
    • KOTH - The raid staff team is really drilling this, we're trying to balance it and find changes that would benefit gameplay. I also hope to add different, cooler, KOTH platforms that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also good for PvP/Gameplay.
    • Tracking - There are always plans for making tracking easier (Constantly updating Wiki, Tracking Videos, in-game chat tips, etc.). There was also an in-game calculator before but some players abused the command and lagged out the servers so it was removed.
    • Boosters - Boosters are actually doing quite good right now, lots of people love the Haste + Speed booster the most. With our current plans we hope to make the Double XP/Loot booster a lot more vaulable though. We could also add more, we're open to ideas.
    • /Base Command - Lots of problems arise like mentioned before - Litters the map (spawn area), players would probably camp and kill these players (discouraging them), and how would they get down if it were a skybase? I would prefer an in-game tutorial upon joining instead, -1.
    • Spawn Changes - Spawn should be fun, open, and helping for new players. So, I agree with some points, but I don't think it should be dangerous as this is literally where new players expect to start and make a safe escape.

To conclude, very nice ideas and suggestions. Although I'm more of a traditional/old school wannabe player I like the ideas you've proposed and will definitely bring these up with the staff team, thank you.

    Try hard lmao.

But ye, fair criticisms. As I said, I'm pushing more towards a new game mode, not revamping the game mode. Understandable for some people to be against that. Honestly, whatever helps the playerbase both quantity and quality wise is good with me

    Bounty:

I think that if you kill a player you get 10% of their gold. This is not abusable since gold is conserved (and not created out of thin air) and targets the OP players. It encourages PVP and tracking,

Also KOTH- this is a cluster, so many people say it’s not worth it and the keys can give crappy prizes. My fix to it:

    Remove the key/chest system
The prize is straight up XP to the team that wins. The levels of XP awarded is the number of minutes that KOTH took, capped at 60. This gives an incentive for everyone to come and risk sets if they know they can enchant any lost/busted sets at the end if they win.

    Borriiingg...

That's not a fun prize to get, I'd rather open a crate and get back stuff than know that I'll get a lot of XP.

So just automatically killing someone would give them 10% of their current gold? I dont understand

A possible solution for the bounty could be x% of the bounty price paid deducted from the player's balance corresponding to the price paid. Example: the price to place a bounty on someone is 100g, and 120% of the bounty price deducted from the hunted player is the reward.

Pros: people couldn't farm this with alts - they would be losing more than what they get. It would also allow for people to value bounties, ie I could place a 200g or 500 gold bounty on someone.

Cons: negative balances would be needed so people couldnt just save their gold externally. This would require a lot of balance though, such as only allowing players to have a limit of a negative balance and stopping any bounties being placed on them if their balance is negative. Also, the bounty price would need a limit.

Too complicated? Probably, but I've always fantasized about bounties on raid and would love for this to happen somehow.

The crate prizes suck, sorry but pretty much everyone agrees the prizes aren't worth the effort of many busted sets of P4

The bounty system is purely based on the gold balance of a player. How it would work is that if I have 10,000 gold, my bounty is 10% of that or 1,000 gold. Then if player x kills me and has 0 gold, I end up losing 10% of my balance to player x (I'll then have 9,000 gold and player x ends up with 1,000 gold).

Overall gold is conserved, and there's no opportunity for abuse or unnecessary loss of gold.

Added /kits and regenerating blocks under spawn.

I'm interested in bounties, but abuse will ruin them.

Interested in doing leveling (time consuming), team points (time consuming), crates, random world events, custom end, and donation perks.

The other ideas need more definition.

Anonymous said he would make more little events if he had access to creative mode. Dont be so cringy and give this man access to creative. I think he has done a lot for raid and could do even more things like funny events for which he needs creative mode.

What do you mean with /Kits and regenerating blocks?

    Why can’t @Eil do it?

Could you clarify what you mean with those blocks and where I can find them?

Eil does a really great job and his committment for raid is extraordinary, however he is often very busy with reports and testig bugs or new things. If there was a second smod for raid it would be a lot easier to make more spontanious events

How about @Miskey? He's literally a randy SMod.

What? I never said that he was a bad mod? A server can only have one SMod, which is Eil.

Maybe i was not clear enough. It does not necessarily have to be SMOD even though i think he earned it after 1 jear of beeing MOD. Just give him access to /gamemode 1 and some other commands so he can make some funny minigames like a king of the ladder orwhatever comes to his mind.
