    Just wondering, for those who cannot track well (@sub) / don't know how to track after trying to learn it, what do struggle with / find the most difficult about the system? What improvements could be added to help you learn it better? I'm just thinking of this now and I don't really see what is so complicated about the system, so please let me know if you lack confidence in your tracking abilities. Improvements can always be made, so voice your feelings!

    I get asked why you might only see one direction for some players and 2 directions for others/ how do i track a player with only one direction/ how to calculate cords (do I add or subtract)

    Maybe to reduce clutter only when you /track (name) it could give a more detailed info about the player you are tracking eg pre calculated cords for them and how far in what direction they are within and when you just /track it's the same as it is now.
    Eg.
    /track 0racle
    Tracker Cords: 6000, 6, 6000
    Tracker Range: N 1000 E 750 West 1250 S 500
    0racle NE
    Between:
    X6000 <-> X6750
    Z5000 <-> Z6000

    Yeah I like that idea. I think this, along with a way to simplify that math end of it will help the learning process a lot for newer players.

    @Speedcell made a few tracking tutorials, which explained the system pretty well. If it's requested I could make a tracking tutorial covering some of the more advanced stuff / a fullmap tracking tutorial.

    yes I am a sub member, but I'll manage

    What's different with full map tracking and normal tracking?
    The only thing different I can think of is you need to be careful when building to not have spawn half way through the range of your tracker to make it easier to see when they warp back to spawn.

    I’m not sure if this is what @Jeenss was talking about but in terms of fullmap tracking he could be referring to using stacked trackers instead of narrowing yourself? It’s pretty advanced and might be hard to explain but teaching people to have say, 500 narrowed stacked trackers and then teaching them to set up a temp tracker at the 250x250 location, etc.

    Lots of newer players trying to figure out tracking usually always PM me the same question. We’ve tried a lot different of ways to help players learn, such as: Wiki, Videos, Threads, Tracking on build, etc. Even though some of these do work there’s still more we could do. Something that players can do in-game to help them learn would be ideal. Something similar to /track help could spawn you in a different world with a small 500 ranged tracker (similar to spawn) and a tracking tutorial book and then have a test dummy spawned and the player would have to track it.

    Build has most of the tracking plugin working (players don't show up on it, maybe they need to be in gms to appear on the trackers)

    It would be great if you could work with eil and spawn in a tracker on raid or wait till the next map reset and use your current tracker and post a tutorial / video of you actually tracking a player

    I normally get raided everyday before actually setting it up, to much time to be raided tbh.

    Yes, players are supposed to be in Gamemode S in order to be trackable on Build.

    @0racle

    I asked 7 people who play raid for quite some time but dont track and i figured out that the main reason why so many people dont track is not the tracking itself but the building of trackers. I know of myself that i need about 9.5 straight hours of obby mining (6 hours with booster) just to get enough obby to make a fullmapsetup with 500 narrow. Thats about 10.000 obby or 3 dubs. (I know there are cheaper ways to get 500 narrow fullmap but i guess thats the average amount you need.)
    Moreover you need depending on your design 48-70 diamond blocks which takes you depending on your mining tacticts 4-6 hours haste mining. (Without waaayyy longer.) The next step, travelling to all the Coordinates (at least 4 if you build "save" trackers. Then the mining out of all the holes is without a booster a pain. Covering everything properly up (Caves, ravines, and the 1 block above the obby) takes you again an enormous amount of time.

    So alltogether I would say noone with less than 3.5 days playtime has his personal fullmap setup. Considering the majority of raids playerbase still has to go to school only very few of them can spend about 4 days just on building trackers, which is no fun at ALL (I know what i am talking about.) Most of the people want to have a fun time with pvping or building and not with hardcore sweat mining.

    Another point you need to take into consideration are the "fails" of new trackers. They are easy to track (@Exaggeration and @Seph_MC best examples. :wink: ily ) and loose many trackers before they know about offsetting, indicators and when sb is at his vault/good warp.

    To be honest i really cant see a good solution to this problem.

    So essentially trackers are too difficult to build / too time consuming? If I understand properly, I definitely agree. 90% of the tracker's skill comes from the tracker they use imo. The only way I can think of making trackers easier to make is having a booster to make obby easier to get. Another thing could be having a custom villager selling it in exchange for gold at spawn. It really does boil down to grinding through it though and trying not to get raided. Sort of the whole concept of the server, but so is tracking /shrug

    Some of us have school, and very limited time to get on. Just because I make small trackers that aren’t effective for super quick tracking doesn’t mean I don’t know how to. My schoolwork is to the point where I don’t get on during weekdays anymore (with special exceptions), and so I have about 6 hours a week to play. Now, if I enjoy PvP more than tracking - why would I spend all my weekly time building trackers and mining obsidian?

    I’ve seen your trackers, and I’ve seen and used full map tracker setups. After playing Soup PvP for years, I’ve just decided the time to mine for the materials for these trackers, and to build them, then to temp track just isn’t worth the reward I feel for each raid. I’d rather do pretty much anything else.

    In short - congratulations, you raised a 2 stacked tracker that took me an hour to mine for and build. I’m not sure if you understand this - but just because I don’t make a full map huntslos (or whatever design you prefer) doesn’t mean I don’t understand the concept or I don’t have the mental capacity. It just means that I don’t have the time on my hands that you do.

    It was one simple joke. I didn't expect you all to freak out over it. I will keep this in mind for next time, but please, all of you get back on topic. I want this thread to collect information, not to be an argument.
