Rewards for bug reporters

I think boosters or a $5 coupon would be a nice reward for reporting bugs. I never said anything bout wanting a reward tho, nor that it's a gamebreaking bug.

 

I don't see a point in a reward, if you're reporting the bug as redslime said your reward is a less buggy game and a repair to something you felt was needed to be mentioned to staff.

 

Not all bugs are unfavorable from the player's perspective. For example, you used to be able to overwrite warps when you lost your rank and were over the max amount of warps, essentially eliminating the need to purchase more than a month of a rank. This is a bug that I reported.

 

It would be hard to judge which bugs are worth a prize :/ I could report tens of minor bugs from War right now

 

You don't always need a reward for doing something good.

Although I think this idea is nice though, I don't really think encouragement / sign of appreciation is needed. People generally will want to report bugs regardless if there is a reward or not, and even if it is a gamebreaking one, it usually will get around to staff fairly quick.

 

If no one knows about it then it isn't an issue. I wouldn't report it for a reward at this point anyways.

 

Yes, but appreciation is different from rewards. I fixed the code that was making tracking inaccurate and received 0 credit for it. Things like that make me less inclined to explain non-gamebreaking bugs.

 

I feel as if you might be speaking for a small percentage of people here. Of course you would be receiving appreciation for pointing out a bug in game. The reward is knowing that you contributed towards making the game less buggy and better for all players to enjoy.

Since when? I had staff actively telling me that I didn't help the server when reporting gamebreaking and revenue-compromising bugs. There's no appreciation to be had here.

 

Personally handing out money or prizes for bug reports creates a system that's similar to the internet black marktet - people will start hoarding bugs and start charging more and more (even actual money) for a game-breaking advantage.

 

If you're that concerned about payment for reporting bugs, then you're not the kind of person that I, as a player, would want the server spending its money on.
