Rewards for bug reporters

Staff said this?

 

"You reported other bugs in the past and claimed in-game that you had been helping the server." That's the quote. It implies they don't think I was helping the server when I was reporting bugs.

Also, this is what I got told after I fixed tracking and it needed to be tested:

tf is greed? I'm not a payed developer nor staff yet I fixed an actual gamebreaking bug that was plaguing the server. Expecting some kind of mention when they made a post stating that it was fixed is greed? Get outta here lmao.

No, that was addressing him calling me greedy. Read the quote above that part.

 

The way I see it, what you said above that also has something to do with you wanting some type of acknowledgement for bringing the bugs to a staff’s attention. Not telling you that’s bad, but that’s just how I’ve been interpreting what you’ve been saying.

 

People don't need a reward, or validation from others for doing something positive. If you report a bug and the staff fixes it, problem solved. The max reward you're probably going to get is a simple: "Thank you". Even if they don't thank you, you should just be grateful that it's fixed. After all, isn't the point of reporting a bug to fix the issue? If no one knows that you specifically pointed out this bug, who cares?

TL;DR: You shouldn't need praise or rewards for pointing out bugs. The reward is enjoying the game with one less bug.

 

The differnce as I understand it is that he actually fixed the code that caused the bug, as opposed to just pointing out that it was a bug. I'd say that's worthy of at least some recognition in patch notes or wherever bug fixes are released.

 

I never asked for reward nor validation. I said:
1: That I thought I deserved a mention when I fixed code for a gamebreaking bug when they made a forum post stating that it was fixed.
2: That they have said things on their own fruition that have shown they're unappreciative.
