I've always been a sniper since Legacy days and infact played and quickscoped with my trackpad until level 131. Once I transitioned to mouse due to the risk of breaking my laptop because of my intense trackpad use, I was able to move my cursor around faster. I actually believe I quickscoped faster in my trackpad days than my mouse days, but movement is key.

Of course sniping, and using any gun in general, and becoming so good with it (disregarding natural talent such as sight and coordination skills) I believe comes personally from always rushing and pushing myself over my limit (ultimately mostly leading to me dying). In Legacy I never quit when I was spawncamped and never hesitated to get into impossible situations such as 10v1s and running through the enemy spawn. Gradually doing that increased my skill and I could take on 2v1s, then 3v1s and currently clutching even more harder fights. And I still do it to this day on (explains why my kdr is horsesh*t). BUT, I know 99% percent of you will NEVER do this. Because it's not a part of your playstyle and personality (such as caring for kdr). I probably have some small case of ADHD because I cannot, and I mean canNOT stay still for over 10 seconds without action in-game. I'm always rushing and camping, waiting for players, is something I can't do mentally. Doesn't matter how close I'm to a killstreak or what I'm doing I'll always rush.

Alright, since no one will actually do that, here are some tips anyone actually can do (no particular order):
    • Always keep your cursor on playerhead level, this makes you automatically headshot the enemy when you shoot at a ground level player. This saves a huge amount of time and results in a quick kill. Obviously if you are shooting at a player that is not on ground level, aim for the head.
    • This is a rather general tip, but just because a shot seems almost impossible doesn't mean you can't hit it. Always try to shoot a player if there's even a small chance. For example shooting a player running behind some slabs out of your sight doesn't mean you can't hit him. I'd say 10% of my 'impossible' shots hit.
    • Use sniper in infect. Since infecteds' only concern is to dodge bullets (and not shoot guns like you normally do) their dodges become better and will be good practice.
    • Some of you probably know this already, but when noscoping with a sniper the bullets usually seem to go to the right, so I almost always suggest noscoping in a close range fight.
    • Have you tried quickscoping slower than you used to do in Legacy? I noticed if I quickscoped rather fast my gun unaims before my bullet shoots.
    • Automatically switch to shooting your secondary after shooting an enemy at mid close range, since there's a big chance the player jumps and you'll miss your headshot; comboing.
    • Use snipers on every map; more practice. It will improve your overall aim in my opinion. Here's my two cents on guns on close range (which most fights are): shotgun; no skill required, automatics; no skill required, but more skill than shotguns, snipers; some skill required.
    • And for the noobies out there, don't think – shoot! Your automatical reaction to the sight of a moving enemy color and/or shape should be to shoot. Thinking costs time and time decides a battle.
There's some tips for everyone. It's actually quite hard to decode how you play since you just do it automatically. I just started analizing myself only a few months back.

    Keep 'em questions coming!

Holy heccing friccing fraccing succing Jesus :open_mouth: And nope, I didn't realise that quick scoping slower is better. In legacy it didn't rly matter how quick but I suppose it does matter in 2.0 tyty

Ice Bear's 2 cents press F3 + B to see better for maps with lots of bushes like Jungle also it can be like legal wall hacks as the line that protrudes from a player's head can go through walls.

Ice Bear's question is what is the best way to jump snipe so when facing another good quickscoper?

What loadouts do you use when you want to nuke, when you want to get lots of kills and when you want to get a good score?

I have not played 2.0 yet, in what ways have the bullet mechanics changed and how has that effected sniping (can you still quick scope?)

First of all — why do we even jump when we quickscope? You may not think about these things since they happen automatically, but it is because you're lowering the risk of getting headshoy and it highers your chance of headshotting as you are higher. For those reasons we tend to jump in fights where the other player has acknowledged you.

If you're talking about a situation where you are in the open 1v1ing a quickscoper at a distance, the best way would be just to simply jump from side to side while quickscoping. There are two efficient ways of doing this:
    1. Quickscope with no breaks between shots, which means you can't aim as much (only works with dragunov, msr and m21 ebr)
    2. Quickscope with breaks between to adjust your aim (works with every sniper)
The first technique is good because you're spamming the enemy with bullets and he wont get a break, and the second one is good because you'll most likely kill with the first shot. Personally I favor the second option.

Sometimes running away and then turning around to jump and quickscope can work, but since it exposes your back to the enemy and your movement is easy to coordinate it is usually a bad idea. It can work depending on the situation, though.

If you're in a normal situation where you have any sort of cover, the possibilities are infinite. Do what is best and utilize the environment. Rush, bait, escape completely... there is no specific technique.

NOTE: All loadouts are personal preference, these are the loadouts I use(d). I advise to NOT use the same loadout for the reason that "Lekosa1 used it".

Nuke loadout: m21 ebr, five seven, tomahawk, flashbang, ICU (nowadays I use marathon because I rush). Attack Helicopter, AC-130, Nuke.

I do not have a kill and score loadout because I couldn't differentiate them from eachother as my playstyle is the same for every loadout. (Read first post for more info)

Here are the current loadouts I use (I think I'm lvl 49):

Infect/MG4 protesting loadout: MG4, five seven, tomahawk, flashbang, steady aim. RC-XD, Sentry, Combat Dogs. Tomahawk is switched to c4 in infect.

When I'm doing **** loadout: acr, five seven, tomahawk, flasbang, steady aim/marathon/first perk (I switch them up depending on my mood). RC-XD, Sentry, Combat Dogs.

Normal loadout: m21 ebr, five seven, tomahawk, flashbang, marathon. RC-XD/Sentry, Attack Helicopter, Combat Dogs/AC-130.

FFA loadout: m21 ebr/acr/MG4, five seven, tomahawk, flashbang, marathon/steady aim. UAV, Carepackage, Sentry.

Keep in mind that I change these loadouts every game according to the map, mood and players online. I listed the loadouts as they are on "default".

The bullets are faster and smaller. The hitreg is also unreliable, so prepare for that. Sniping is pretty much the same as before and, yes, you can still quickscope.

No. It hasn't affected my gameplay at all.

Ice Bear also asks what perk is better light weight or marathon for a sniper loadout Ice bear was thinking light weight because Ice bear feels a lot more slippery and harder to hit but this is only in theory.

That is indeed the reason I use it when I do. I personally don't think I'd switch marathon to anything else, but for you I think light wight could be more efficient.

F can also work if you have E as your inventory.

Use lightweight on msr at low lvls. Run around and quick scope ppl. Use cold loosed when u get it. It's op cuz dogs, sentries, helis, harriers (not the bomb part) will do nothing to you. Msr is best sniper before you get m21 ebr.

Or just charge some1 with an mo5 or striker. U will be hated tho.

@SuperBen4 can't handle striker well :smiling_imp: just charge em and spam.

Just practice. One thing to know though, is that you can quickscope faster if you use the tip of your mouse but it makes aiming harder.
Practice. I made a post about sniping a few posts above so you can read that for the starters.
