Hey. Title subject has reached a point of being super obvious.

What are some ways Brawl can push Twitch and encourage gameplay streaming?

Can we implement a way to link Twitch accounts and a "Streaming Now" thing?

I noticed minecraftforums.net is requiring members to link to a twitch account. Which I though was a bit much at first (and requiring would definitely be too much for our community), but is amazing for staying relevant. Any thoughts?

Also, I don't think youtube is irrelevant for some types of content, but I think most streaming types of content have migrated. Edited/instructional/compilation stuff still has its home on YT.

    HmMmMmMm thoughts?

I personally think the problem is more about Minecraft relevancy rather than Brawl relevancy and no matter the platform, other games such as Fortnite would continue to leave Minecraft in the shadows. It’s to my knowledge that putty streams more Fortnite than Brawl, if any, which just proves my point exactly.

Other than promoting Brawl’s exposure, would a visible “Streaming now” be meant to bring the current community together because it seems like every time there is a stream it’s announced everywhere on Brawl already and if some players don’t stream now, I don’t think they’d stream if Brawl promotes it muchless have Brawl gameplay as their content.

@Miskey streams on Twitch when his PC works and I do get alerts for whenever his stream starts - however, Miskers shouldn't be the only Brawl staff or media team member streaming, which is the problem.

F*cknite is a stupid fad whose popularity is being ruthlessly exploited by wannabe PewDiePies for likes, subscribers, and donations.

I do agree that Minecraft isn't very appealing, mainly to people over 16 (apparently its becoming even more popular among children - god help us). And seeing as the "old" community is either ending High School or going to college/university if not getting a job games like League, Fortnite, Overwatch, or Far Cry are more seeing a lot more attention than Minecraft. As someone who has been around longer than most on McPVP/Brawl, Minecraft is just boring for me. It's not exciting doing the same thing over and over and other games, particularly League (for me), offer more stuff to mess with and better gameplay.

As for streaming... streams are only going to do as well as the person streaming. That is, if a stream isn't pulling in a decent base of viewers on a consistent basis (say 50 people for Brawl) then what's the point of the stream? Even YouTubers with 400-1 million subscribers like BunnyFuFuu and SoloRenektonOnly (I watch a lot of League streams) only get 500-1,000 viewers on their streams. Streams are heavily dependent on both the personality of the streamer and the content that's being streamed. But particularly the personality. Personally I like stream highlight videos more than the actual streams since a lot of awkward/boring parts can just get edited out for the video

If people want to watch a stream they will watch it on their own time. Constant notifications aren't going to do anything other than annoy people. Although I do think if someone is a streamer (Miskey) that information should be much more publicly available than it is

Any bets on how long we should set the countdown clock for Brawl's impending death?

A successful streamer has to put the audience's entertainment above his/her own. That's how I've been on a constant, overwhelming rise since I started. Well, that and my unstoppable video game talents. If Brawl wants to stay up, acting now to create a unique image through streaming would be a smart move. Earning a reputation as "that server with the [insert server such as BR or HG] streams" would be excellent to Brawl's growth, PR-wise. The fact that Brawl has so many servers is good for keeping playercount up, but the lack of a uniform public image could be Brawl's Achilles tendon.

"1 step back, 2 steps forward. Let’s climb the mountain, let’s dominate. Violence, speed, and momentum and guess what? We’re at the tippity top of the mountain...but we’re really only half way up."
