Spring Cleanup and Summer Plans

Hello Brawlers,

I'll be explaining what we've been doing behind the scenes with the maintenance and our general plans for this summer at Brawl.

• Maintenance Details
Last Thursday the servers and website were down for maintenance. During this time, we migrated our main server and database server. Since we had these servers since 2014, it was quite the ordeal for us to move the data and services on them. In return, we reduced our monthly expenses, implemented a new and revised backed for the Minecraft servers, and we future proofed for things like self hosting MinecraftBuild maps.

We appreciate the patience everyone provided as we kept the website and servers down for a full day. This allowed for us to ensure everything would run smoothly. At this current moment, all major issues have been resolved. There is only one minor issue with connecting to some servers which we will resolve tonight.

• Reducing Gamemodes
In general, we are trying to slim down the amount of gamemodes we have. This is especially needed for us to be able to focus on developing and maintaining the most popular servers.

• Battle Royale Closed
While this server was my personal favorite, we have chosen to go ahead and shut down the gamemode. With games like Fortnite that can be played on any platform, there aren't many players wanting a mode like this in Minecraft. Bigger networks have tried to implement the same style of game with no success.

The most recent influx of players was thanks to a French video creator named Furious Jumper. We thank him for taking the time to make the video and actually credit us with the IP in the description. This is quite rare in today's Minecraft community. We welcome you all to check out the rest of our gun servers.

BR itself will be kept around if we want to start it up for an event or contest. It isn't necessarily gone for life.

• Hardcore Games Temporarily Closed
With no spoilers, we will be re-launching this gamemode this summer. Our attempts at minor updates and tweaks haven't been successful, so we have something else in store. We encourage all MCPVP veterans to stay tuned for more information about this.

• Raid Reset
New map hype! Raid will be seeing a reset this month. We will have a thread posted about end of map events and reset date by this Saturday.

• Summer Events
You cannot escape entertainment this summer. We're going to be lining up as many events as we possibly can. As long as players attend them, we will continue to host them. Leave your suggestions and ideas for events.

Also, we will have giveaways on our social medias - so make sure to follow those.

• Conclusion
There are a lot of things being planned for this summer. I'm trying to be as time efficient as possible while the staff and myself have the most free time. We won't be spilling the beans on everything we have in store, but we have a general theme we're following:

• Improve current gamemodes, or retire them
• Improve player retention
• Improve the ability to AFK
• Stay away from queue based games
• More transparency and general updates​
