Idea Grenade buff

Grenades suck. (except infect ones) The majority of players use tomahawk or C4 instead and for good reason. It is hard to kill with a grenade by the time it explodes you are either clear of the blast or at least far enough to avoid any lethal damage.

The Buff
Grenades currently have a fuse time of about 2.5 seconds or 3 seconds this timer goes down as soon as it is thrown. The buffed grenade has a fuse of 5 seconds till it explodes but you can now cook it for up to 3.5 seconds so by the time it is thrown it will explode after 1.5 seconds. Like the tomahawk the indicator to how cooked the grenade is will appear like a bar above your hot bar exactly like the tomahawk. Pulling the grenade out starts the timer and you can toss the grenade at anytime. If you hold it over 3.5 seconds you will automatically throw the grenade. To compensate for this buff you can now blow yourself up with your own grenade. Also players can kick grenades away by right clicking with their knife on them. This is fair anyways since you can already hurt yourself with a C4 or Molotov. Hopefully these changes will get more players to choose the grenade.

 

Well you can damage yourself with a C4 anyways and it makes sense. If you stand in front of an explosion or walk in fire you should be damaged. The system will be fairly intuitive just hold the grenade longer if you want it to blow up sooner or shorter if you want more delay. Also I thought of new players who might hold it too long and potentially blow themselves up so it is automatically thrown after 3.5 seconds. If the bar counting down the grenade is confusing you can always count to 3 then throw it. Forgot to mention that the timer resets if you put the grenade away or switch weapons.

 

What I don’t understand what you mean by this also the grenade is thrown like normal only difference is that you can control how fast it explodes.

 

In the majority of shooting games that include grenades this is a common function. I don’t see anything wrong with perfectly timing grenades to explode instantly when they reach the target.

 

Maybe a good compromise is that it only applies to the single grenade and the grenade is renamed to a Semtex grenade.
