The way I use trackers is broken! (solved)

    Using a temporary tracker I tracked down a few people in different 25x25 areas that are each more than 25 blocks away from eachother. The Z coordinate works, these people aren't tracked when I leave the 25x25 area, but the X coordinate always is fine with showing them no matter where I am.

    I suspect these people are actually in spawn but the X coordinate doesn't care and shows them anyway.

    Update: Definitely broken.
    Ztream was at spawn and I tracked him 1.5k blocks away

    You are aware that people have to appear on both cordinates to be "within spawn/25 blocks of tracker

    ?

    Trackers track on 2 separate directions. X and Z.
    'Spawn' is about 100 blocks in all directions from X:0, Z:0.

    As you can see from your above screenshots, you are getting frequent results for people on N/S (Z direction). This means they are within range of your tracker on the Z. All your trackers are at very small Z locations (8, 7, 11, 46, 50). While you're only tracking 25 blocks on the Z, you are within range of spawn due to your tracking location.

    Lets take the last screenshot you posted. Your Z location is X:-1412, Z:50, tracking 25 in all directions. You have no results for E or W, meaning no one is within 25 blocks of X:-1412. However you get 2 results for S and N; meaning 2 people are within range of 25 blocks both S and N of Z:50.

    In otherwords:
    PepsiProducts has Z: 25 -> 50
    sgo89 has Z: 50 -> 75
    (Both of which are within 'spawn')

    Does this make sense?

    Ah, I was assuming that both directions had to be satisfied for them to show up. I see how it works now, thanks and the title has been updated.


    I don't think tracking really needs to be taught, you just need to be told what it is and you understand it. My mistake was I just read it incorrectly on the wiki.

    Pro tip: Don’t try and track people’s bases with the spawn tracker.
