Well, I'm going to make a computer soon, but I don't know what I should get for it. (graphics card, etc) Any suggestions on what I should get for it? I'd like it so the computer can run at at least 85 FPS with shaders and the maximum settings. (fancy graphics, maximum smooth lighting, far render distance, all particles, fullscreen, etc) Also, I don't really care how much it costs, I just need a really good computer because I'm going to be recording lots of videos in the future, and I don't want the videos to be laggy.

I don't really know much about building computers, but I have a suggestion for you. I know everyone will say this com. Sucks, but it's one of the best out there. I play on a $3500 mac osx, and I have ZERO lag. It's my fathers computer, but I'm on it more than he is (hehehe). But I think 3 grand is a little out of your price range

I'm not talking about the operating system, I've already decided on Linux. The thing I'm asking you guys about is the specs.

Look at alienware for some nice prebuilt computers. Why did you choose linux?

If you have i7, you can render videos incredibly fast. I tested it myself

I'll customize you a computer once I get to my computer. In the mean time, craftlumberjack posted a similar topic, and the computer I customized for him should do this. Also, I'll give you a link to my computer. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1XV9k

I haven't built this computer yet... Though in theory I should get at least 200.

I have all the parts except the motherboard... One pin is bent on the original motherboard I got, making the mobo useless. I am supposed to receive the new mobo soon.
    And some part suggestions:

CPU: Intel i5 or i7, i7 is better for video editing, and i5 is minimum you would need for high graphics games. (be sure to buy one with a k at the end of the name if you want to overclock)

Motherboard: Any motherboard with the correct CPU socket should do the job

GPU: Depends on how expensive you want to go. Gaming GPUs can go up to about $1000... But if you want an NVIDIA card at this price, be sure to get a 780 Ti, it is better and cheaper.

RAM: I recommend that you get at least 8 GB of DDR3-1600 RAM.

Storage: SSDs are faster, more expensive and have less storage than HDDs. In my computer, I will have one SSD and one HDD.

Case: Choose at least an ATX Mid Tower size case, my 780 doesn't have much space left over once it is in the case.

Power Supply: find out how much power your CPU and GPU need, then add a bit for your other parts.

Optical Drive: If you want to watch movies and download games from disks, then you might want a good one, but otherwise you would just need a basic one to install your OS.

    OS: You already chose Linux

Sure, I just have some questions to ask: which processor, i5 or i7? (i7 being better)

GPU: what level of gaming do you want?

    Storage: any preferences?
would you like an ssd for your operating system (computers with an SSD can start up in about 20 seconds)

General: do you have a defined budget?
what games do you want this computer to play, aside from minecraft
