    McBrawl Mod Application:

Here is something, which I would put in the ‘Anything else we should know about you’ section, but I think people should know before they read all of my application. I really am the player followhenis, I was posing as Skulduggery57, a 15-year old boy. I really am 12, the main purpose of this account was to show people that first of all, 12-year-olds can be mature enough to be moderator and second of all, not to judge people on their past, because, I admit, I was very immature on the account followhenis. However, I made a big apology and so as far as I know, all is forgiven. If you want a link to the apology thread, here it is: https://www.brawl.com/threads/10027/

A positive, one of the few, about me being an old member is that, regardless what my profile page says, I have been at Brawl for over a year.

Are you active and helpful on our servers, forums, and Teamspeak? – Indeed, I am. In terms of forum activity, I have 539 posts and I normally post around 10 a day (these figures may be different by the time I post this application). I try to make sure all my posts are helpful, informative or funny. I apologise if the following is very similar to my last application, but my activity levels have not changed much since then. On schooldays, I will wake up, get ready for school, and be on the forums for half an hour. I may post a couple of things on the forums if I have time during school. Then afterwards I will get home, do something other than MC-Brawl, I won’t go into that, then normally play WarZ or War, mostly WarZ for two hours minimum. Then, when I am told to get off the computer, I will get off, and once again, go do something else. After dinner, I am either on the forums or in-game for another hour or so. I am normally on TeamSpeak for about half this time, the rest of the time I am skyping my friends, or sometimes I am just playing/browsing the forums. Weekends are a different matter; I wake up early so I am normally on for about three hours in the morning. I am on for another two hours in-game throughout the day and then another two hours or so on the forums. In terms of my helpfulness, I will always answer someone’s questions, even if it puts my life in danger on WarZ.

Which server are you applying for? – I am applying for the position of moderator on MC-WarZ.

How old are you? – I am 12 years of age, but for two months I successfully posed as a 15-year old boy, which leads me to think, that perhaps I can be nearly as mature as a 15-year old. I hope that you can look past my age and judge me based on other things as well.

What time zone are you in? – New Zealand time zone, which I believe is (+13) GMT.

What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft? – I have been playing Minecraft since April 2012, when I first received my Android Tablet. I downloaded Minecraft PE within several days and I have never stopped loving it since. Within three or four months I bought the PC edition and I played creative for several months. I made massive buildings. Then I got bored of having no challenges except architectural ones, so I started playing survival. I was pretty good and soon I had enchanted diamond armour and was fighting the Ender Dragon in Hardcore Mode. But I soon tired of that too, so I went to servers. I briefly owned a server, but it did not run for long and I turned to other servers. I came to Brawl around Christmas 2012 and since then I have not really played anything else. That is my story and experience of Minecraft, and as for my knowledge, I would say that it is not as good as some people, but I would judge that it would be more than enough for moderator position on WarZ. I know how virtually every block works, but as for command blocks, I am not so sure. That is probably my biggest vanilla minecraft-related weakness.

What is your experience with moderating servers? –As I said in the paragraph above, I owned a server for a couple of months, and it had around 20 people on at any given time at its height. I also moderated on a Minecraft server which was fairly big, with hundreds of regulars. I apologise, for I do not remember the name, it was almost a year and a half ago now, and I did not think I would need to remember it. It was a survival server with economy plugins, and I’m afraid that is about all I remember. I am also planning to co-own a server with Mrcowlick and fast11471 called GondolinCraft. It is currently up, but I have not yet incorporated my ideas into it, I am still just a normal player. However me and fast are discussing ideas, it will definitely soon grow.

What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status? – For one thing, I will clamp down on ragers, and anyone who uses swear words or insults numerous times when killed. A couple of players who I am friends with, when asked if they wanted to play WarZ with me, declined for the reason that there are too many people accusing other people of hacking when they weren’t and too many people raging.I believe this could be one of the reasons why WarZ does not get as many players as War. I am not quite so firm about the ‘hackusing’ because in some cases the player who is being accused may in fact be hacking.

Another thing, I would bring is a moderator who is in love with the server, not just the idea of moderating it. I believe that it is very important to have a moderator who actually likes to play the game, but not so much that it stops them from moderating. I am really passionate about this topic, so let me explain this further. Imagine there are three moderators, a, b and c. A doesn’t much like the server he is moderating, he finds it boring. And so, eventually, A leaves. B loves the server so much he is extremely active, which is a good thing, but when people need him for moderating, he will tell them to go away; he is busy playing the game. C loves the server too, but not as much as B, so he doesn’t leave, but when people need him to moderate, he will stop whatever he is doing that is game-related and help them. I like to hope that I am most similar to Moderator C out of that example.

How active do you consider yourself in-game? – I am active on MC-WarZ around an hour and a half minimum on weekdays and three hours minimum on weekends. I also play MC-War sometimes, so if need be, I will leave it and devote more time to WarZ.

How active do you consider yourself on TS3? –Whenever I am online and not skyping a friend, I will be on TS3, except for rare occasions when I just want to be alone. Overall, this would add up to about an hour minimum on weekdays and about two and a half hours minimum on weekends.

How active do you consider yourself on the forums? – I think this is one of my strong points, as I have 540 posts, but I only joined at the beginning of December. This comes to around 7.8 posts a day, which I have been told is a good standard for a moderator. This may be different by the time I post this.

What do you consider your greatest strength? –This was probably not true when I was followhenis, but I have tried to make this strength of mine as Skulduggery57, and I hope I have succeeded. I would say that it is my ability to rise above the situation and no matter how many insults a person will throw at me, I will remain calm and be reasonable and understanding.

Example: This happened earlier today, and although I remember it, I sadly did not take screenshots. This was on WarZ, by the way.

    Skulduggery57 was killed by Player

    Player: Skulduggery57’s a retard.

Me: What makes you say that?

    5 Minute or so Gap

    Player was killed by Skulduggery57

    Player: HE HACKS TOO!

Me: If you are going to accuse me of hacking, please provide proof.

    Player: SHUT UP HACKER!

Me: I do not want an argument with you, please calm down. If you do not, I will stop conversing with you.

Player: YOU WERE IN GOD-MODE, I WAS HITTING YOU, DON’T LIE, HACKER!

    I stopped the conversation there.

What do you consider your greatest weakness? –On my previous application I put ‘impatience’ for this question and I believe that is still true, I often cannot wait. But I have identified this as a weakness of mine, and I am working on it. I can also be slightly OCD, and I don’t mean this as a small thing, I have some of the symptoms, but I do not believe this will hinder my ability to moderate, should I be granted moderator status. If it does, I may resign, but I hope that will never happen.

How would you handle someone making a minor transgression for the first time? – I will tell that what they are doing, and the consequences. Then I will ask them to stop breaking whatever rule they are breaking. If they do not do this, I will then instruct them step by step how to do this. I will try my best to be polite, but I will be firm and I won’t use insults, swear words, or caps.

How would you handle the same person doing it again a second time? – I will once again tell them they are doing something wrong . If they fail to do something about it I will tell them that this is their last warning. I will be more stern with them, especially if they know what they’re doing, which most people would by this point.

How would you handle that person doing it again for the third time? –I will then give one final warning, very firm, and then I will kick them. I will possibly temporary ban them if they are breaking a very serious rule and/or insulting me and refusing to stop. When they log back on, I will watch them closely to make sure they do not break this rule again.

What is your reaction if someone publicly proves you wrong on the forums? -As far as I know, this has not happened yet, and I cannot gauge exactly how I would act, but the following is what I believe I would do:

First of all, if it took them a while to prove me wrong, they put lots of effort into it, or they were very clever or creative to prove me wrong, I will congratulate them on this.

Second, I will apologise to the player who proved me wrong for misleading them and I will be as gracious as I can.

Thirdly, I will apologise to anyone else who was misled by what I said.

I will do my best, even if people are being rude, making fun of me, or insulting me, to maintain my cool and not be immature.

Last of all, If anybody took my advice which then turned out to be wrong, I will inform them either by tagging them on the thread, posting on their profile page or via a PM that my advice was wrong and give them a link to the thread so they can see the correct advice which I hope would have been provided by the player who originally proved me wrong.

What would you do when someone breaks a rule on the forums? -I will let the player know that they are doing something wrong, both on the thread, if there is one, and in a PM.I will then ask them to delete it. If they do not comply, I may lock the thread, depending on the circumstances. I will also report the post for the benefit of other staff members.

When would you lock a thread? -When it has gone off-topic and it is not in the off-topic section.

When people have started to swear or insult players to a point where it is not to be tolerated.
    Spam.

When the thread is a question and the question has been answered thoroughly and clearly.

A gravedig, which I would classify to be when a player posts on a thread that has not been posted on for at least a fortnight, possibly longer.

When a thread is asking a question that has already been asked before, or a thread that has an extremely similar topic to another thread.

If there is a thread that needs locking in another forum, I will report it to GreenPeas_ or another senior staff so that they can act upon it if they see fit.

Describe yourself in 3 words: Friendly, Thorough, and Approachable

Describe yourself in 1 sentence: I have a past of immaturity, but I am a new person and I am now much more mature, friendly and a better community member generally.

Anything else we should know about you? – Look to the start of this thread for the main answer to this question. Also, my Skype name is Skull-man57, let me know if you have any questions or queries, no matter how embarrassing, I will not judge you.

I have made many previous applications but I was immature and I am very sorry about this. All the applications made under the name ‘followhenis’ were made before I had changed, but I hope that the people who are reading this can understand that I am a changed person. My previous application under the name ‘Skulduggery57’ was mostly to show that a 12-year-old, not to mention a 12-year-old with a immature past can be moderator. But seeing as this was denied, I thought it better to reveal myself. So, here I am, applying for moderator for the first time as a new person, not to prove a point, but to give something back to the community, especially WarZ, as those servers are lacking of moderators.

Situation: A player is out of the map on MC-WAR. What are the steps that you would take to ensure that this player and situation is properly dealt with? - I would invoke the steps I have posted above about when a player makes a minor transgression. I would just apply it to the situation and tell them to do /spawn, get back inside the map, disconnect, or kill themselves.

I am applying for WarZ so I will add in some WarZ-related questions to do with hackers and the like.

You see a player hacking on MC-WarZ. What are the steps you take to ensure that this player and the situation are properly dealt with? First of all, I will ask them up-front if they are hacking, and I would also tell them that I am a server moderator. If they admit to hacking, I would report them, take screenshots and footage if I can, but I would add in the report that they confessed. If they apologised, and it seemed sincere, I would also add that to the report. If they deny it, and the problem goes away, I will apologise, for it will have just been lag or some other bug. However, I will still take screenshots and report it, just to be sure. If they deny it, and they continue to hack, I will warn them and then kick them. I will also take screenshots and footage if necessary, and then I will report them.

A player you have never met before says another player is hacking on MC-WarZ. What are the steps you take to ensure that both players and the situation are properly dealt with? To make things easier, I will call the player who is supposedly hacking Player ‘A’ and the player who is accusing player A of hacking, Player ‘B’. First of all, if either players are swearing or insulting each other, I will attempt to get them to stop. Then I will try and get Player B to explain to me what kind of hacking he thinks Player A is doing. Then I will teleport over to where the situation is taking place and witness it with my own eyes. I will ask Player B to take screenshots, and I shall take some myself, and then report Player A. And then I will follow the steps I provided in the question above.

Do you generally know how all the plugins and commands work? – As far as I know, I know of all the commands that I will be given access to, and how to use them, should I receive moderator status.

Do you realize that if you are disrespectful or abuse your power, your power will be taken away? – Indeed I do, and I promise now that if you make me moderator, I will not disappoint you. I would never want my power to be taken away, and I have no reason why I should ever abuse it.

I rarely comment on Staff Applications, but as WarZ is my home, I feel inclined to do so on this occasion.
Skul, this is a very good applications, I must say so myself. I think your maturity both on the servers & on the forums, is a clear indication that you are ready for this role.
We are in need of WarZ moderators, and I would be happy to help you out and show you the WarZ ropes, as I have with past new WarZ Moderators.

I understand fully what it is like to be young and so not gain the attention you deserve. You are mature, and your poll speaks for itself.

Only bad thing I have to say is you were very rude and immature on the servers at one point. But you seemed to have shaped up a bit. +1

Over the past few months, you have proven yourself to be able to change, and might I say, it was a mojor change. I was suprised at your significant increase in maturity, and I feel you are ready to take on this position. You are very active on the forums and servers, and I feel you would make an excellent WarZ Moderator. You have my (+1), and best of luck to you!
