Why do parents hate video games so much?
Last report card I got all As and 4 B+'s.

"You play too many video games"

I didn't make on on the cross-country running team

"You play too many video games"

This is REALLY getting on my nerves.
Remember when comic books were supposed to rot children's brains?
Now parents want us to read comic books, read graphic novels, "hell I don't give a **** just read"

When we all become parents is some entertainment medium gonna come out and we're gonna tell our
    children to play video games?

    ..............

oh **** I put this in the wrong category xD
haven't been on the forums for 6+ months xD

I haven't played MC for a year plus, so can someone tag a mod to move this to off-topic?

Parents don't hate video games :V They are just afraid that you will get addicted to them, which is very possible.

My parents don't give a sh** about how much I play, unless if I don't do any work in the house.

Video game addiction is a real thing.

I don't really have anybody riding my ass about games though, Schools extremely easy and I do very well and do what I have to do so I am hardly bothered.

Because it's time "wasted". If i spent the time i spent gaming working on a decently paid job instead, i'd be a millionaire by now.

It's time wasted, as many have said already. That is what they do not like.

Set a computer time for your kids. I will end up telling my kids not to play video games because they need to become a surgeon, and you get that through hard work and taking difficult classes, not deciding which block to place to make it look more fancy.

I was addicted to minecraft for nearly 2 years, so yeah they exist.

That being said, my stepfather plays Forza and pinball for nearly 3 hours per day and my mom plays like 2 hours of facebook games so the statement that 'parents hate videogames' is weird :stuck_out_tongue:

Parents play different "games" like updating facesmash(book) and other useless tasks too or watch TV.

I think games help problem solve, network, and in Wars case survive in a Mad Max society....hehehe.

Get all A's and it's not a problem. I play sports and lift so I get plenty.

Sometimes you just need to blow some sh#t up, kills 100's of noobs, and wreck some fools.

Imo, the only good video games that help with brain development are Legend of Zelda and Pokemon, unless the game is specifically designed for brain work, like Brain Age. They force you to think, because things aren't spoon-fed to you. I play 1-1.5 hours of SSBM, about 2-3 days per week to improve. For a while I was obsessed with Minecraft until I realized I could do other things, like play an instrument. My video game playing is pretty minimal, and I also read for 45-60 minutes per day, and I practice trumpet for ~1 hour, if not more. Most video games, especially Minecraft, can be very bad for you, unless you play it in moderation.

I'm not sure why your parents are telling you to read graphic novels, because actual chapter books are much better for you.

EDIT: I only account for video games I have played. There may be other video games that are helpful for brain growth, but I have not tried them.
