Story Mission: The Girl on Fire!

Life has an interesting way of working out.

Jennifer Cruz was more than a Superhero, known as Fireball, and a model she was secretly my girlfriend.

The "official" story is that the United States government asked me to lead a special mission into the zombie infested area of Santa Cruz with mission parameters to rescue civilians and end the zombie apocalypse.

Unofficially, I called her boss and told him in uncertain terms "Evil" was going in to rescue Fireball. The conversation didn't go well in the beginning. After the blackout and the discovery that some of the heroes had infected did he decides to go with option B. After all, his options were limited and besides what was he going to do to the super human threat no one had been able to contain much lest stop.

I had semi retired from my role as MR_EVIL_OVERLORD, having never been caught and known throughout the world as the most dominate Super Villain to ever exist. In most countries, I was public enemy number one. Interpol, the FBI, and CIA all classified me as a metahuman class five, the highest threat level. The funny thing was that no one knew my identity. I was after all very cautious.

We fell in love the first time we met in person. A few weeks earlier I had seen her on TV fighting some mutant nobody. She was a hot Spanish chic and had a pistol of a personality. Dare I say she was both physically and figuratively "En Fuego" (on fire). Her power set was unique in that she could fly and produce large amounts of ambient heat and projectiles. In layman's terms she was the girl on fire. As a class 5 metahuman she could easily be my match had we ever battled.

We officially met at gala. It was mine, I had donated some obscene amount of paintings and cash to charity for the Children's Hospital system in California. My stipulation was that I wanted to meet her. From that day forward I was smitten. She was a dark haired beauty with soul crushing eyes, her hair was a mixture of red and brunette. Her figure in her costume was quite amazing. The girl worked out and she was built like an Amazon princess.

After we met at the gala, I gave her a private tour of my mansion. I could tell that she was attracted to very powerful men. As one of the richest men in America, I certainly met that criteria. You could say I swept her off her feet that night. I was so enamored that I stopped crime for three months straight just so I could spend time with her and not have to worry about her flying off to stop some super villain.

I was watching on TV when the first heroes were bitten. As powerful as she was, I knew based on my calculations that she would only be able to last a few days. There were too many zombies in the city.

It was time Evil got into the fray. After her boss agreed to my terms, he allowed me to specially select my team of Super Villains to stop the zombie apocalypse. It took me all of two minutes to tell him who I needed.

He called my team the "Suicide Squad" for going into the area.

I preferred to think of us as something else.
