Figured I would post this here since it involves a lot of MC-War players, and it would get more views and comments here than in the literature section.

The other parts to this "book" are under the literature section. You can find them yourselves, you can't take the easy path and click on a link I put here.

    Without further ado;

    Chapter 9: Revelation

“Theo, Pyro, stop. The containers were filled with North Korean soldiers. They're exiting now." Soulless said into his radio.

    Theo swore. “How many?"

“Too many. Thirty or forty." Soulless said. “Overwatch to base, we have North Korean soldiers in the harbor. We are under attack. Repeat, we are under attack."

As he said that, Soulless heard a whistling sound. When he looked, he saw a rocket fired from an RPG headed right for the window he was at. He grabbed his rifle but it was too late.

The explosion blew him backwards, and he felt his back crunch into the wall. He lay there for a couple moments, his ears ringing, before his hearing rushed back to him.

“Soulless! Are you all right?" Pyro was yelling.

“I'm here." Soulless said, grabbing his radio. He was covered in dust from the drywall. The room was filled with dust from the detonation.

Pushing himself up, Soulless found his rifle laying nearby. He grabbed it and raised it to his shoulder, looking down the scope. The scope was still functioning, and he looked at the deck of the container ship. Theo and Pyro were still in cover, but the North Koreans were fanning out, looking for them. One of them, obviously the leader, took a team of thirty towards the gangplank, and they ran down onto the harbor. Another team of 20, which had come from the containers, were fanning out, AK rifles in low ready.

Soulless flicked off the safety on the MSR.

    ---------------

Evil stopped. “Did you hear that?"

Evil, Rock, Titanium, and Platinum were walking back to the base, but they now stopped, listening carefully.

“Yeah." Titanium said. “Sounded like an explosion."

    “Another bombing?" Rock asked.

    “Maybe." Evil said.

Then, the radio crackled. “All teams, North Korean forces in the harbor. We are under attack. All teams, we are under attack. Spread out and set up strongpoints."

Everyone pondered the words for several seconds.

“Well." Evil said. “I was wondering if anything would happen today. Let's move."

The group began to jog back from where they came. Evil checked that his magazines and grenades were secure on his vest and persons. His M&P handgun was locked in his holster, ready for use.

“Omega team, Zeta 2-2 providing overwatch assistance."

“Copy Zeta 2-2." Evil said. “Where are you?"

“Airport one klick north of you. Police are rounding up people and moving them away from here."

“Roj 2-2." Evil then changed frequencies. “Base this is Omega 2-3, requesting airlift to San Diego International for four operators."

“Copy Omega, helo inbound on your position." The comm officer responded.

The team set up on the road they had been traveling by. Evil kept his weapon on safe and the chamber empty just so he didn't get trigger happy because of a passing civilian. A tourist came running around a corner on a sidewalk. Evil tracked him in his M4A4's scope but didn't touch the trigger.

“Please, don't shoot!" The tourist skidded to a halt, holding his hands out like a shield. “I'm just a traveler! The soldiers are that way!"

    “What soldiers?" Rock asked.

“They came from the shore, in scuba teams. I don't know how the got past Coronado, but they're headed for the airport."

Evil immediately went for his radio. “Base, where's that airlift?"

“Should be at your position right about now."

As the words were said, the sound of a helicopter reached Evil's ears. A Blackhawk swung around an office building and began to descend.

Evil turned to the tourist. “Do you have any relatives here?"

He shook his head. “I'm from Maine, looking for warmer weather."

“Get yourself to safety." The helo was right on top of them now. “Find some sort of weapon and a closed room. Shut the door and lock it."

The tourist nodded, beginning to back away. “Take care of yourselves."

“Just worry about yourself right now." Evil said, raising a hand in farewell. The tourist was in full sprint away now.

Evil stepped onto the Blackhawk. “San Diego International, on the double!" He yelled to the pilot. The pilot nodded and the helicopter lifted off.

    ---------------

Pyro leaned around the corner and fired a burst from his M4A4, missing his target. The Korean fired his own burst around the corner of the steel container, and Pyro flinched as a round struck the corner.

“Stay in cover, I got this one." Came the call from the sniper, Soulless.

The Korean ducked back around for another burst, and Pyro felt the air near his head move.

Then, there was a loud sound of a bullet hitting metal, and the Korean slumped over.

    “He's down." Soulless said.

    ---------------

Soulless cycled the bolt on the MSR and swept the deck again, finding a Korean readying a grenade. He set his sights and squeezed the trigger. The rifle bucked but made almost no sound, the suppressor mitigating the gunshot.

“Deck is clear. Exit the ship and meet me on the street." Soulless called. He grabbed his rifle and clipped a sling to it, strapping it to his back. Drawing his Glock 17, he took one last look around the room that had been his position for the last hour. One whole side was replaced by air, the edges of the wall lined with charred black plaster and drywall. Through the missing floor, Soulless could see down into the next apartment, which was thankfully empty.

He turned and opened the door, first sweeping with his handgun, and made his way into the hall.

    ---------------

Evil clipped out of his rappel line, and grabbed his M4, finally cycling the bolt. He checked that all the members of the team were present, and then jogged through the entry way.

Instantly, marines swiveled their M4A3 rifles to point at the operators, but they held fire. Then they relaxed and returned to their positions.

The marine sergeant jogged over to Evil. “Who the hell are you guys?" He asked.

“Special forces, you've got a load of Koreans headed your way."

“Glad you're here. How many of you are there?"

“There's us four, a Delta Force team at base gearing up now. A pair of SEALs at the harbor with our sniper. They should be linking up with the other two SEALs and be headed here to assist." Evil said. “Where do you want us?"

“We have the lower floor here pretty well covered, but we could use some guys up top. We have no DMR/long range stuff or ordnance." The sergeant glanced over his shoulder and leaned in closer to Evil. “If we have to hold out against their main force if and when it comes, we are so screwed."

Evil nodded. “We'll take the next floor. You guys take care down here."

    The sergeant nodded. “Thank you."

That was when the missile hit the building, rocking it. The floor shook, and there was a cry of “Man down!"

Evil moved. He vaulted over a plant box decorating the airport area, and lay on his back behind it, taking cover. There was a rumbling, then another missile hit.

Evil looked over, the marine sergeant having taken cover next to him. The sergeant looked at him, eyes full of fear. Evil said one word.

    “Drone."

    ---------------

Soulless stepped out onto the street with his Glock ready. “We clear?" He asked Theo, who nodded.

“The airport's been hit too, along with the airbases. Drone strikes. Who would have thought the Koreans would have drones?" Pyro exclaimed.

“That's not the Koreans. IAI PMC probably has them." Soulless muttered.

    “What's IAI?" Theo asked.

“Independent Arms International." Soulless replied, beginning to jog. The SEALs followed. “Private military corp, opened fire on me in Afghanistan a while ago and held our team captive too. They're tough."

“If they've got a drone, they obviously do." Pyro said.

A Humvee rounded the corner of the street ahead of them and pulled to a stop next to them. Out jumped Snail, Trogs, and Crazy. Snail nodded to Soulless, who nodded back. The SEALs drew to a halt.

“North Korean forces on the way to the airport, armed to the teeth. We're on the way to help." Trogs said. Crazy held out Soulless' M4A4, which he had thankfully remembered to grab. Soulless took it, nodding his thanks. The Humvee took off again, a Marine manning the .50 cal MG on top.

Soulless holstered his Glock and cycled the bolt on his M4. He checked that his optional suppressor was on his harness and that he had a couple extra magazines. He let the MSR stay on his back. “I assume we're headed to the airport?"

“Yes." Snail said. An explosion occurred. “We have to watch the drone strikes to see where they're conning from. There's a comm jamming blanket over the city, so our AA and guided stuff isn't working." Another explosion happened, closer this time."

“Sounds good." Theo said, speaking for the first time in that conversation. “Let's move."

    ---------------

Evil lay where he was for the moment next to the marine sergeant. Another missile hit. There was another pause, then then the rumbling and another strike.

Then, the pause came, and there wasn't another missile. The silence returned.

The sergeant looked at him. “You good?" He asked.

    “Yeah." Evil coughed.

The sergeant got into his knees and peeked over the concrete plantbox. “Everyone ok?"

“Negative sarge." One of the marines called. “Five casualties, two wounded, one serious, three KIA."

Evil winced. They hadn't even seen the enemy yet, and already they were losing men.

Then bullets began to zip through the air around the marines and Evil's team.

“Koreans! Go! Go!" One of the marines started yelling.

“On me!" Evil yelled. His teammates began to follow him, Evil making a dash for the stairs. He hit them running, his combat boots pounding on the steps. Evil raised his M4, sweeping. All he found was a few marines firing out into the front of the airport, using assorted items as cover.

“Titanium, Platinum, Dark, get some fire on the Koreans. Conserve ammo. Rock, with me." Evil said. Everyone ran to do their assorted jobs.

Rock checked the airport hallway. “Clear." He said, and Evil pushed in.

They continued throughout the airport, finding very little hinting at the chaos that was going to fold out. They came across a large hole in the ceiling from a drone strike.

Then Rock and Evil reached a locked gate. Rock reached out and rattled it. “That's stuck good."

Then the lights in the airport winked out.

Immediately Evil and Rock turned and pointed their M4A4s behind them, but they found no one. It was now eerily quiet aside from the assorted gunfire coming from outside.

“You sure we aren't walking into a trap here?" Evil asked Rock.

“Possibly. Let's just worry about getting the gate open first." Rock said.

He turned to lift the gate, and then the lights flashed on again, and they were surrounded by SWAT operators pointing AR-15 rifles at them. “Get on the ground!"

Rock and Evil jumped, not sure what to do. “Check fire! Special forces!" Rock yelled. The operators were still yelling at them to get on the ground.

Then, one of the operators started yelling at his SWAT teammates. “Stand down! Stand down! They're friendlies."

The operators all relaxed and came over. “You guys scared the hell out of us." One of them said. “We almost shot you on sight but the M4s threw us off."

“It's good. We're just securing the airport. North Koreans attacking out front, and a drone was pounding the airport here. Mercenaries are working with the Koreans."

The SWAT operators opened the metal gate. “We have the civilians secured here, which is why we almost shot you. Drone strike almost took the ceiling out."

Evil nodded. “You guys can take the Koreans?"

The SWAT guy pursed his lips and shrugged. “We'll do our best."

Evil nodded. “Take care of yourselves." And he then jogged through the gate, Rock behind him.

They continued through the airport, checking throughout. Soon they reached the rental car lot.

Rock swore. “Three tangos next to the red Jeep."

Evil took cover. “How do we wanna do this?"

Rock reached onto his harness and grabbed his suppressor. “The quiet way."

    ---------------

Snail ducked down behind the landing gear of a plane, Crazy with him. “Tangos next to the baggage truck, three next to the plane. 200 yards."

Soulless grabbed the lever on the scope and turned it, zooming the image. “I have them."

Theo and Pyro hopped a metal fence and grabbed their M4s again. “Two next to the terminal entrance, another two preparing an explosive charge."

Trogs cycled the bolt on his MG4. He was set up next to Soulless.

“I can take one of the guys prepping the charge, the rest will be in cover by then." Soulless whispered into his microphone.

    “Hold fire." Pyro said.

“Base, this is Sierra 2-1, standing by at the rental car lot at San Diego International, requesting permission to engage." Theo said into his radio.

“Copy Sierra 2-1, what's your numbers?"

“Omega 2-1 is with us, along with Delta Force operators. We have enough people to help." Theo responded.

“Copy Sierra. Marines and the rest of the Omegas are holed up in the terminal, taking losses. They're preparing to fall back to the TSA checkpoint. SDSWAT has all the civilians either evacuated or secured in the shop area. You are now clear to engage."

“Copy base. Weapons free." Theo said.

Soulless squeezed the trigger on one of the guy's preparing the charge still. He cycled the bolt, and looked for the other one, who was already moving, diving away. He transitioned his aim to the group near the Jeep. Two of them were getting into cover, but the third guy was slow on the uptake. Soulless dropped him.

Pyro and Theo moved around, their M4's suppressors mounted. There was a few ringing sounds like coins hitting sheet metal, and then Pyro said, “Tangos down, moving to enter."

“Copy. Moving up." Soulless radioed. He got onto his knees and reslung the MSR, grabbing his M4 off the ground next to him. Trogs stood too, folding the bipod on his MG4 and making a dash for the airport. Soulless cycled the bolt on his M4 and checked that the suppressor was in place, and flicked the safety over to single fire.

Theo and Pyro had stacked up on one side of the four-door entrance to the airport. Crazy and Snail were on the opposite doors. Trogs took a knee with his MG, and Soulless kept advancing, M4 leveled on the doors. He tightened his grip on the rifle. “Move in."

Theo and Pyro stepped around the corner, while Snail and Crazy took the other. Soulless moved in with the SEALs. Checking their corners, the team advanced.

    ---------------

Dark squeezed the trigger on his M4A4 another two times before the bolt locked open, the weapon empty. He crouched back behind the pillar and searched his vest for another magazine, and found he was out.

“I'm empty!" Dark yelled over to Titanium, who tossed him a 40 round magazine. Dark nodded his thanks. “This is my last one." Titanium told him, taking a mag and shoving it into his M4. Dark nodded again, and brought his rifle back to his shoulder, taking aim down the scope. Spotting a North Korean with an old Russian grenade launcher, he squeezed the trigger once, the round punching through the soldier's head.

There was a rumbling. “Incoming!" One of the marines below yelled. Another drone strike rocked the building.

Platinum took his time, placing shots wherever they were needed. A Korean came up spraying fire from an AK and then took cover again, a bullet tearing through the air he had just been in.

Then, suddenly, new soldiers were running across the green to the parking lot. These ones weren't dressed like the Koreans, but in the armor of IAI foot soldiers carrying G36c carbines. They slid into cover next to the Koreans and began spraying fire at the airport.

A marine took a bullet through the head below the trio. Another was hit with a burst through the chest.

There was a ton of gunfire now. “Fall back to the security checkpoint!" Dark yelled. The marine sergeant looked up, nodding, before gathering his remaining twelve men to make a dash for the stairs. Dark, Titanium, and Platinum left the safety of their cover, bullets nipping at them the entire way, and ran for the TSA checkpoint.

    ---------------

Evil leaned around the corner to throw his flashbang, and slid back around the wall before it went off. He felt he vibration from the bang but barely saw the flash in the midday light. He and Rock then stepped around the corner, rifles raised.

Evil set the dot of his sight on one guy and pulled the trigger on him twice, as Rock fired a full-auto stream into another guy. Evil put a headshot into the third guy blinded by the flashbang, and then Evil slid into cover behind a car. Rock dropped in behind another one across the lane from Evil. There was a burst of fire that hit the car Evil was using, and then more. Popping over, Rock got a couple shots away. When he dropped back in, he clicked his comm. “These guys are their special forces."

Evil popped up and took one guy down with a headshot. He noted the Korean was using an M16A1. He dropped back down. “Saved the best for the two of us, eh?"

Just then there was a cry as one of the Koreans dropped, followed by a gunshot from a ways away. There were two more gunshots, then a call over the comm. “This is Paq, enemies down."

    “All clear?" Evil asked.

“Affirmative. I have Skully with me, we're on the way." Paq said.

“Who's Skully?" Rock asked Evil directly. They had left their cover and were checking that the Koreans were down.

“The SEAL's sniper." Evil said. “We've cleared the airport, what now?"

“I vote we go outflank the guys out front and make me fight on two fronts." Rock said. “Once the snipers get here, we could probably do enough damage that we could keep the airport."

“Yeah." Evil said. Clicking his comm, he said, “Paq, Skully, we're going to be flanking the Koreans out front. If you guys have any form of transportation that would be nice."

“Negative on transport, we're on foot." A new voice came, Skully. “We're coming in on the northern section of the compound, we could head to the west and set up for sniper fire."

“Sounds good. Me and Evil can proceed then?" Rock asked.

    “Affirmative."

Rock looked over at Evil. “Let's go then."

    ---------------

Titanium took cover behind the millimeter scanner at the checkpoint just as a bullet plonked off its control box. He leaned around the left corner and squeezed the trigger. There was a cry as the Korean fell back, the .556 bullet catching him in the throat.

Another bullet plunked off, and Titanium caught a glimpse of a scope reflection. “Sniper! Get down!" He yelled to the marines and his teammates, who took cover. The Koreans and IAI mercs were slowly whittling down the American numbers. They were paying for every meter in lives and blood.

Titanium tried to pop around the scanner and a bullet shattered the glass next to his head. “Dammit!" He yelled, grabbing a grenade off his harness, yanking the pin and risking a bullet to the chest to throw it around at the enemy. There was yelling and it detonated with a loud bang.

Titanium was able to peek around and get a couple more shots off before the round hit him on the left shoulder. He slumped back into cover, his shoulder on fire.

“Titanium!" Platinum yelled. Dark looked over but kept trying to return fire.

    Then, the amazing happened.

From the terminal area came Soulless, Trogs, Snail, and Crazy. Trogs immediately opened fire with his MG4, holding the stream on the stair area.

A marine stepped up from behind the x-ray machine to toss a grenade and took a bullet, falling, the grenade falling to the floor next to him, the safety catch flipping off. Soulless immediately snatched it up and tossed it over the marines' heads, the grenade landing right in front of the stairwell, taking out three Koreans.

Crazy took off his backpack and reached inside, pulling out a C4 charge. He armed it and, Call of Duty style, threw it out over to the stair well, where it rolled on its side and, by miracle, began to tumble down the stairs.

    Crazy hit the detonator.

The stairs blew apart in a flash, all the Koreans who had been taking cover killed instantly. Then the dust cloud began to roll up, and engulfed the TSA checkpoint.

    ---------------

Soulless looked over at Crazy. “How much C4 was in that again?"

The Delta Force operator grinned. “A lot." Crazy had rarely spoken, but now he was grinning like a child.

Soulless chuckled. “Everyone clear?" He yelled. He got a few “yes" replies, and there were a few calls for a medic.

Then some gunfire started again. “More hostiles out front!" One of the marines called, opening fire with his M4. Soulless grabbed his own M4 and came over, sighting up and finding a target.

    His heart stopped.

A team of 20 IAI soldiers was jogging across the parking lot at the front of the airport, lead by a face Soulless recognized very clearly.

He had a flashback to the IAI compound in Afghanistan again, where his team had been captured. The main man who had Tased Soulless. Same hair, same face, and, of course, he was even wearing the Taser.

All of Soulless' rage began to boil, but he forced it down and moved his mind into his zen. .556 bullets tearing through the air around him from the uncontrolled full-auto streams fired by the enemy, Soulless set the edge of his rifle on the railing.

He set the red dot of the unmagnified scope on the leader, who was now holding a Desert Eagle. He looked so calm and in control.

Soulless moved the dot up to the man's head.

    The man kept walking.

    Soulless fired.

The man dropped from the headshot. A few soldiers around him took one look and turned to run. Soulless fired another shot, dropping another foot soldier. And then another. Soon the remaining thirteen were back in cover.

Then there was a scope glint.

Instinctively, Soulless ducked. The marine next to him moved too. A bullet tore through the spot Soulless was standing in a moment ago. He made a dash back for the checkpoint and vaulted over the gate, landing flat on his rear next to Platinum. They looked at each other.

“Pinned again." Platinum muttered, taking his magazine out of his M4. “Just when I thought I was finished for the day." He banged a new one in and cycled the bolt.

    ---------------

Skully locked the bipod on his SR-338. “You see him?" He asked Paq, who lay across the top of the airport from him. Skully was in a prone position, his rifle set up. The pair were searching for the snipers that had been assaulting the airport.

“There." Paq said. “Two guys with Dragonuv SVDs, using the concrete slabs."

Skully adjusted. There. Two Koreans firing shots at the airport from old Soviet era rifles.

“Take em both on three?" Paq suggested.

“I got the right guy." Skully said.

    “Lining up left."

Skully set his crosshairs on the sniper on the right. “Ready."

    “3, 2, pull."

Skully pulled the trigger, the DMR kicking against his shoulder. The shot was center mass, taking out the sniper. The one next to him died too, slumping off to the side.

    “Clear?" Paq asked Skully.

    “We're good."

    ----------------

    Coronado Base

    3 hours later.......

“Well, you guys did a hell of a job defending the airport." Random said, looking through a file. “Total enemy casualties, one hundred thirty combined IAI and Koreans.

The room shook as something slammed home. Random sighed and shook his head. “IAI drone strikes keep hitting us hard. The fight is still on, but you won't be a part of it."

Omega was in Random's personal office reviewing the defense of the international airport. The room was only accessible via an underground elevator and surrounded by six foot thick walls made of concrete, but the vibrations of the predator strikes still managed to shake each of them.

“Well, I have a bit of good news, and a bit of bad news." Random said. Soulless tilted his head, as he was seated on a chair in front of the table Random was using as his desk. The rest of the team was seated in a similar fashion around him.

“And what good news would kicking off a war with a communist nation be, sir?" Soulless asked.

“The good news," began Random, eyeing Soulless disdainfully. “is that we have pushed the North Koreans and IAI forces back to the harbor. They're retreating out to sea on the fleet of boats that brought the IAI groups in, Operation Overlord style."

“And the bad news?" Asked Rock.

“The bad news is that we had a notification from another one of our agent that North Korea is readying several fully-operational inter-continental missiles for launch at key locations in the U.S. Here at Coronado, the White House, Pentagon...you get the idea. And believe me, because of the attacks here and coordinated attacks elsewhere, our entire missile defense system is down."

Soulless swallowed. That was really, really, scale-of-one-to-ten-equals-fifteen-bad.

“The missiles are planned to launch in 48 hours. I have to get an operative on the ground now." Random said with a sign. “There's no other option."

“Hold up." Evil said, becoming alert instantly. “You said operative singular, not plural. That means only one of us?"

Random nodded. “Sadly, yes. If you can get to the control facility at the missile platforms, you can initiate a self-destruct sequence. It's straight out of a movie. There's only one issue though."

    There was a silence.

“And that is?" Dark asked quietly.

“Whoever initiates the sequence has no chance of surviving. There's no countdown, no boss battle, nothing. Just a press of a button, and a really big boom."

    There was another silence.

“I wish I didn't have to ask this question, but who wants to go?" Random asked solemnly.

    Nobody stood up.

“Please." Random said. “I would send you as a team, which is what I'm sure you all want to do this as, but the less people that make the infiltration, the less chance of being discovered."

What am I doing, Soulless thought.

    Then he stood up.

“No." Evil said immediately, placing a hand on Soulless' shoulder. “I won't let you Soul."

“Evil." Soulless said quietly. “Let go of me."

    “But-"

“If I do not return." Soulless said. “You are to lead the team in my stead. Is that understood?"

Evil gritted his teeth. “I will."

Soulless nodded, reaching up with a hand to pat Evil's hand. He then slid it off of his own shoulder. Turning to Random, he asked, “What do I need?"

Random gestures to the door. “Stop at the armory and grab whatever you feel is necessary or vital to completing the mission. Then report back here."

Soulless nodded. Then he turned to the door and exited. He didn't look back.

    ---------------

    The end.

This book will end in Chapter 10. It's been great writing for you guys, and I thank the few who read these for the love and support they show for my literature. You all deserve trophies for sitting down and reading my ramblings I like to call stories.
