    Chapter one

    Reborn

    Guard
Hurry! The bunker is right there!
An unarmored guard is almost dragging two children, a boy and a girl, across a snow-filled path, leaving a mansion that's at least twice the size of the white house behind. The guard grabs the two and throws them over his shoulders.
The disturbing sounds of world war two warplanes are echoing through the sky.
Bombs drop onto the enormous mansion, leaving only a very few pieces of it behind.
Another guard is holding a heavy bunker door open.
    Guard II
    Come on! Hurry up!
They make it inside. The steel door shuts close and silence fills the small room.
The guard drops the children onto the metal floor.
    Guard II
    What are you doing?
    Guard
Shut up. They don't feel anything. They never did.
The two kids calmly get up and sit down in the very back of the bunker.
    Guard
    See? They aren't even human.
    Guard II
That doesn't change the fact that we are supposed to protect them.
    Guard
So what? Our god is probably already dead.
    Guard II
As long as we are alive, we can surely say that he is too.
    Guard
Don't annoy me with that crap. I've had enough of this. We won't last long in here.
Either they are going to bomb us to pieces or we are going to starve in here.
The two children are sitting there in the back. Emotionless with their eyes are glued to the ground. Like a powerless machine.
    Guard
    Hey, Jack!
    The boy looks up.
    Guard II
    Leave him alone already!
    Guard
You think your father is going to come and save you?
Jack only stares before his eyes meet the ground again.
    Guard
    Great. What about you?
Both men are looking at the little girl, but she doesn't react at all.
    Guard
    Why do I even bother?

More and more bombers fill the sky. Their bombs leave a devastating mix of death and fire behind.
They approach the destroyed mansion. In the center of the formation is a heavy bomber, at least three times as big as the others with two wings and four roaring engines. It has one big bomb attached to its body.

The deadly sound of the army of bombers hall through the bunker.
    Guard II
    You hearing this?
    Guard
    We're all doomed.
The heavy bomber drops its insane bomb. It's a direct hit onto the bunker. The area turns into a sea of nuclear flames.

    THE SON
You had it rough, didn't you?
I am going to grant you a second chance.
    Make good use of it.

    Jack's eyes pop open.
The bunker is unharmed. A bright light is shining through its door.
The guards and his sister are gone.
He goes outside to see a breathtaking jungle full of flowering plants and life.
    Jack
    Whoa!
The emotionless boy now is feeling all kinds of emotions, emotions he has never felt before.
He starts to run, as fast as he possibly can. It's dream come true for him. He is running like he already has done this a million times. Jumping over massive roots. Dodging mountain like trees. Until his run comes to a rapid halt.
    Jack
    Verly!
He turns and desperately sprints back to the bunker.
Tree after tree pass by. All kinds of animals watch him as he finally reaches the bunker.
    He slowly goes back inside.
    Jack
    Verly? Are you in here?
There is no one there. He jumps back outside.
    Jack
    Verly! Where are you?

    Chapter two

    The flames within.

A bow held high by child's hands is arched heavily. His eyes are pinpointed. He lets go and the arrow jumps out of the hold. It hits the red perfectly.
The child smiles towards an elderly man who's observing him. He shakes his head.
    Old man
    No.
Concentrate. Use the power given to you by the gods.
He spans the bow again. He pinpoints the target again.
    Old man
The target is not your goal.
The boy closes his eyes to reopen with fiery red eyeballs.
Fire spreads over the arrow. The target blows into pieces as the lightning-like arrow hits it with brute force. It sets the remains and its surroundings on fire. Multiple men run in to extinguish the building inferno.
The boy's eyes are burning until he closes them again.
    Old man
    Good.
    Boy
    Can I go out now?
    Old man
Alright. Go and have some fun.
    Boy
    Thanks.
The boy throws the bow away and runs off the training range.
He runs onto a heavily crowded middle age street.
He ducks and somehow manages to get through the mass of humans with ease. He starts to climb up the double stage building on the other side. He reaches the roof. An infinite town is surrounding him. It's like every building is the same. Only a very few buildings are unique. His is one of them. Next to the training range is a huge tower, his home.
He takes a running start to jump off the building. Fire bursts out of both his hands and feet, boosting him towards the insane tower.
The half controlled flight ends as the boy manages to hold onto the rough stone facade.
He climbs up the building with heavy leaps from side to side until he reaches the wooden top of the tower.
Standing up tall the boy screams as loud as he can.
    Boy
My name is Ken and one day I will rule this world!
The scream can be heard miles way.

A day opens and two children run out of it. Lina and Darwen. Lina has silver hair with very bright colorful wisps all over it. Darwen's eyeballs seem to have crystal clear blue water constantly running through them. Making it look like a river flows around his pupil.
They run onto the street and jump on one of the many carriages.
They lay down on the roof and look at the sky.
    Darwen
He is going to show you all kinds of tricks.
    Lina
    Really?
    Darwen
Yeah. These guys are the best warriors in the world.
The build the great wall all by themselves.
    Lina
But that is just a myth.
    Darwen
    No! It's true.
My dad told me everything about them.
    They are our protectors.
    No one can beat them.
    Lina
    Whoa.
The carriage makes a turn and Darwen gets up.
    Darwen
    We're here.
    Get ready to jump!
The two jump and run to one of the many houses.
    Darwen
    Here we are.
Behind this door are the ones who will teach you everything there is to know about magic.
    Are you ready?
    Lina
    I don't know.
The door opens and a dark clothed hooded man steps outside.
    Àrthes
Uh, sorry. You two waiting for someone?
    Darwen
No, we just wanted to go in.
Lina is hiding behind Darwen's back.
    Àrthes
Hey, I know you. You're Durgez son, right?
    Darwen
    Yes, Sir. I am.
    Àrthes
Alright, make sure you don't touch anything.
    Darwen
    We won't! Promise.
    Lina
    Yeah.
The two enter the house and Àrthes closes the door behind them.
It's almost like a library, just with many wierd things like wands and swords all over the place. Lina is holding on tight to Darwen's back.
    Darwen
    Séiss? Are you here?
Another hooded man, but this time with a black mask, steps into the library.
    Séiss
Darwen? What are you doing here?
    Darwen
Well, Lina didn't believe that you guys actually existed. So I wanted to proof it to her.
    Séiss
And Lina is the little girl hiding behind you?
    Darwen
    Yes.
    Lina
    Nice to meet you.
    Séiss
If you want you can read through a few of the books we have here. I don't really have the time to tell you about your past.
Séiss's head disappears behind a desk.
    Lina
Darwen said you could teach me.
Séiss almost busts his skull in as he hears her words.
    Séiss
    God dammit!
    What?
No, no this is not how this works.
You can't just teach someone dark magic.
    You're born with it.
    Lina
But Darwen said you could do it.
    Darwen
Séiss please. I know you can. Just a little bit.
    Séiss
Darwen, you of all people should know how magic works.
I really am sorry, but there is just nothing I can do for you.
    Lina
    Bu-
    Darwen
Séiss! She didn't find her powers yet. So we though-
    Séiss
    Please, Darwen, It's not possible.
You should ask your father about her powers.
In the end, he is a two-time spiral ball champion.
He knows more than I do about the common powers.
    Alright?
    Darwen
    Alright.
    Lina
    Thank you.
    The two quietly leave.

A wooden door opens and the two depressed children walk into a welcoming hall.
Durgez, one hell of a handsome man in his mid thirty steps into the hall.
    Durgez
    Are you two okay?
    Darwen
    No.
    Durgez
What happened? You said you wanted to talk to Séiss.
    Darwen
    Yeah.
Do you know how we can find out what Lina's power is?
    Durgez
Her power? Oh, you still didn't find yours yet?
    Lina
    No, sir.
    Durgez
Well, how about you practice a little with us?
Maybe we can tickle it out of you that way.
    Darwen
    But dad-
    Lina
    Yes, please!
Three buckets filled with water are standing in the wooden living room.
Durgez is standing opposite to Darwen and Lina.

    Durgez
Alright, Darwen, show her how it's done.
Takes a deep breath. He raises his arms over and over again until the water slowly crawls out of the bucket.
    Durgez
Darwen, concentrate. You're making a mess.
    Darwen
    Sorry.
Lina is observing every single movement of Darwen.
The water rises higher and higher until the bucket is empty and all the water if floating in the air.
    Durgez
    Bring it.
Darwen spins around. The water follows his every move. But it stops just as it is about to hit Durgez.
    Durgez
Not bad. Should be enough to flip a coin.
    Darwen
    Dad!
Lina giggles at the embarrassed Darwen.
    He boxes against her shoulder.
    Lina
    Ouch!
    You're mean.
The water hits Darwen with full strength sending him flying across the room.
    Darwen
    Dad!
    Durgez
    What?
I thought you would block it.
    Darwen
Yeah, as if I could block an attack of a two-time spiral ball champion.
    Durgez
Would you rather practice with a less qualified trainer?
Darwen rolls his eyes in annoyance.
    Durgez
Lina, do you want to try now?
    Lina
    Yes!
Lina also takes a deep breath. She mimics Darwen movements perfectly. Her eyeballs turn blue.
The water rises almost immediately. The whole content is floating in the air.
    Lina
    I am doing it!
    Look Darwen.
    Durgez
    Amazing.
    You're a quick learner.
Darwen holds out his hands and swings them towards the ground.
The water splashes all over Lina.
Darwen laugh as Lina stares at him in anger.
She raises her arms and all the water around her floats up.
Darwen laugh disappears as he sees the mass of water.
    Darwen
    You kidding?
She screams and the mass of water hits Darwen.
Lina starts to laugh and so does Darwen as he sees the happy Lina.
