In this thread I want to discuss the latest news regarding minecraft.
I am going to keep a very close eye on this thread and I won't hesitate to call Mr. @Lord_Roke on skype if I think a flame war is about to break free.

Why am I making this thread? Simple Minecraft java is on it's way to its grave.

So what are the latest mc news and what do they mean?

    https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/all-news-e3

Simple 800 words that mean much more than you think.
But we only need the important 60 words.

Simply said there are two minecrafts now.
Our minecraft for pc/mac/linux (gonna call that one the java version) and the other for your phone xbox and the windows 10 edition that no one uses. (this is the BTU version)

Well, the thing is that if you buy minecraft java (our version) you also get the windows 10 version which is good, a 2 in one deal. But it's not the other way around. So if you buy the windows 10 edition you won't get the java edition.
    But why is that?
    Well it's pretty simple:
They want to kill off the java edition.

Why support the game that gives you skins maps servers for free if you can make money of off that stuff in the other version?
Microsoft wants to milk minecraft using the marketplace.
Skins, maps, texture packs and server cost a lot of money if you're on the BTU version. I first didn't want to believe it myself but I downloaded the win 10 version and checked it out.
There is one free map in that store... The others all cost money.
No free skins or texture packs.
But not even that everything is overpriced...
You have three amounts of coins you can buy.
    320 coins 1020 1720
    1.99€ 5.99 9.99
Well... to add something into a game that only children without money play is pretty damn sick...
I mean you can only buy a few things with the 1.99 pack... 2 ****ty maps and 15 skins... want a texture pack **** you 5.99.
Everything else is also in the 5.99 area.

They are charging pretty much the same as the big publishers for some of their dlc...

You're paying for something we on the java version get for free...
Let's also ignore the fact that multiplayer on there costs money.

Now you also get why the eula got implemented...
They don't want to protect the children, they want to kill off the servers so people stop playing minecraft java. That way they can stop selling it and only continue with the BTU version.

Also, check these videos out they have more information than I can write down in this thread.

Well... let's talk about it. Do you guys think that microsoft is killing the java edition, or not? Keep it cool and try to use common sense.

Flame and **** posts will be reported.

Also RIP future mac and linux players...

This whole argument goes off the assumption that Mojang knows what the hell they're doing, which seems completely false.

For the past 3 years, they've been more focused on removing content (blacklisting and financially hurting servers) than adding content (glazed terracotta blocks!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!!). Ever since Microsoft took over*, Mojang has been doing terribly and Minecraft's inevitable death is getting closer and closer. Probably a few years off, but there's not really much you can do about it other than make the most of it.

*This isn't because Microsoft is doing anything bad - I know it's still Mojang who do everything. It's because Notch left at this point, and Jeb doesn't know what he's doing

This really does sound like a stupid decision that they made. Java content will always be a lot bigger than what they have now. Just think of all the millions of plugins people made.

Also, not trying to defend it, but not all content has a price. I am noticing a lot of people aren't informed about it, but some stuff will still be free.

Here is a site for the free stuff:

Wow, I really don't know where they are going with this. Recently they have done a lot of hated updates such as inforcing eula, and now this? It seems like they want to 'kill' this game, imo.

They're trying to get as much money out of it before the game dies anyway.

That's at least something but I don't think you can download that for your xbox or your phone.
