While reading the Q/A, I found somewhere where it said that no major gun servers would be created until after 2.0.
Well, with 2.0's arrival quite near, I thought about Battlefield. And after a lot of rethinking, I realized that if it was changed plenty, it could be pretty different from War, like MCCS is.
I know there is a thread on it here, but I don't think it's detailed enough.
    https://www.brawl.com/threads/11448/

    So let's start.
Battlefield is a tactical shooter, meaning that it requires a lot more teamwork than War. Anyone pissed off at the excessive elitism in the War community would definitely enjoy this. Although there is a learning curve to it like War, it's significantly easier since all guns counter each other and have weaknesses/advantages.
Why should there be a Battlefield server?
It's a more strategic and unique server. It's quite different from War, and there are no well known Battlefield servers out there yet. Why shouldn't we be the first to recreate Battlefield?
This would be a perfect server to take advantage of 1.8's features.

    Classes:
There would be 4 classes, just like any game past Bad Company 2. They are the Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon classes.
Assault: This class is the medic class. However, with later unlocks you can replace your medical equipment with more offensive weapons if wanted. He is able to use assault rifles.
Engineer: This class is the vehicle class, responsible for repairing or destroying vehicles. He gets personal defense weapons.
Support: This class supports advancing troops with his ammo bag and his light machine gun. The LMG is capable of suppressing enemies to allow allies to push in.
Recon: This class is the sniper class, utilizing long range sniper rifles. He also receives explosives to take out tanks, so he isn't totally useless when it comes to vehicular combat.

These classes effectively counter each other, both in infantry and vehicular combat.

    Weapons:
Most weapons are exclusive to a certain class. However, some are available to all classes.
Assault rifles: These are balanced automatic weapons utilized by the Assault class.
Personal defense weapons: Similar to SMGs, the Engineer class gets these for close range.
Light machine guns: Pretty straight forward. Large machine guns with a huge capacity.
Sniper rifles: Weapons built for long range combat. Some are DMRs, while others are legitimate snipers.
Assault carbines: These are scaled down assault rifles, available to all classes.
Shotguns: These are best at close range and are usable by all classes.
Sidearms: Available to all classes, these are the weapons you switch to when your primary runs out of ammo, needs to reload, etc.

Different weapons are used for different situations. They have different traits so that each gun is different, but they all balance out in the end. For instance, the M16A4 has a higher firerate and is more accurate, but is a burst weapon and does less damage compared to the AK-47. If a weapon has a high fire rate, it's countered by other things like recoil, damage, etc.
Note that quick scoping is impossible.

You can pick up weapons from down players, with the exception of Gun Master and Scavenger.

Vehicles: Vehicles can, of course, be retextured and repurposed mobs. A few servers have used mobs for vehicles, so it's definitely possible for War. I won't go into major detail on the vehicles.

Maps: Maps are mostly large. Some are smaller and repurposed for alternate gamemodes like TDM.
If you try to go out of map, and you go too far, you have a limited amount of time before you are killed automatically.

    Spawning: See the Gamemodes section.

Scoring: You can score points in different ways, other than by killing people. Participating in your team will get you points. For instance, reviving someone gets you as many points as if you killed someone. And a squad revive gets you more points than a kill. There is no huge emphasis on KDR, as it's mostly team based fighting. There are different ways you can gain points, like -
    • Neutralizing/capturing the objective
    • Kill assists
    • Vehicle disable/destroy [assist]
    • Destroying enemy explosives or equipment
    • Etc
Gamemodes: These would be split into separate servers. Let's say there are 10 servers. The first 5 rotate between team gamemodes, like Conquest and Rush. Here, you can get a lot of points. The last 5 rotate between other gamemodes which don't get you as many points but are fun too. These include TDM, CTF, Gun Master, etc.
    • Conquest: your goal is to bring the enemy team's tickets to 0. This can be done by simply killing enemies or by capturing objectives. When over half the objectives are held by one team, the other is put in ticket bleed, which means their tickets will slowly go down. Tickets are basically the number of respawns you get. You can regain tickets by reviving people before they die. You can either spawn at objectives, at your deployment point, on a squad spawn beacon, or on your squad leader.
    • Rush: the attacker must destroy all M-COM stations, while the defender must protect them. Initially only a small part of the map is open, and there are 2 M-COMs. After those are destroyed, the next part of the map opens up, and 2 new M-COMs appear. This repeats until the match ends. Attackers have limited tickets, but the defenders have unlimited tickets. After destroying a pair of M-COM stations, the attackers' ticket count is replenished. The match can end either if all M-COM stations are destroyed, or if all attacker tickets are depleted. You can spawn on squad leaders, at your deployment, or at a squad spawn beacon.
    • Domination: Think of CoD domination. However, you can spawn at an objective. Otherwise, you spawn at a random location. You can capture objectives faster.
    • Team Deathmatch: This takes place on portions of normal maps. You must get to a set amount of kills with your team to win. You can spawn randomly or at a squad spawn beacon. Great gamemode to unlock attachments for your guns.
    • Gun Master: This is basically team Gun Game. You must cycle through 18 or so weapons and get two kills with them, before getting the final kill with the knife to win. Usually, it's pistols > shotguns > PDWs > assault rifles > LMGs > rocket launchers > M320/GP-30 > Knife. There is no class selection, and you can only spawn in random areas.
    • Scavenger: You can choose a class here, but it doesn't matter. All you get is your pistol, a grenade, and a knife. You can find better weapons in the map, but you lose them when you die. It's kinda like Domination, otherwise.
Specializations: These are like perks. You can choose from faster sprint to extra ammo or explosives.

Health regeneration: Health will only start regenerating within 5 seconds of taking no damage. After, it's similar to a basic regeneration effect aka kinda slow.

Spotting: By default, all enemy names are hidden. In addition, everyone's armor is like a gray, brown, or green color. However, if you shoot an enemy or right click with the spotting device, their name tag shows for about 10 seconds. Their helmet turns red for your whole team to see. Enemy name tags will also show for you only if you look right at them.

Recoil and spread: When firing an automatic weapon, its first shot will have twice as much recoil as normal. Recoil can be done with 1.8's teleporting mechanics for up and side recoil. In addition, your spread will increase when running, walking, or shooting. It will decrease when you stop shooting, you crouch, or aim down sights.
These are factors that can be partially negated.
The foregrip decreases recoil but increases spread when aimed down sights.
The laser sight creates a laser similar to the Ray Gun that allows for good hip accuracy, but has that visible laser.

Attachments: Attachments will enhance one part of your weapon while making another part worse. For the most balance, don't use attachments.
Some attachments like the laser sight are able to be toggled by sneaking and pressing the drop key.

Damage drop off: As a bullet travels, its damage will decrease. Nuff said

Destruction: Using C4, rocket launchers, tanks, etc. you can cause destruction. You can break glass with your gun or a knife, as well as stuff like grenades.
But by damaging the supports of a building enough, it goes down, killing anyone inside, on top, and within a 1 block radius of the building collapse.

There are many things I could go over, but basically this replicates Battlefield, a tactical shooter. It emphasizes teamwork over KDR, and unlike CoD there are no kill streaks. You are the kill streak.
What do you all think? Vote on the poll, leave suggestions, you know.
When/if this is started, I'd love to help with development if possible, but as long as it's balanced and fun, fine by me.

    The most important part is:
    ALL WEAPONS ARE BALANCED!
For instance G3 may have high damage, but it has a 20 round mag. etc

Would the server have a destructible environment? Or at least a limited destructible environment? Anyways, I would game on this server. You have put a lot of thought into this and making this into a reality would be a milestone.

Yeah, probably. Due to MC limitations you likely wouldn't see major destruction, but there could be minor destruction like destroying glass, supports, etc.

If you have played Minecraft Shotbow server "Wasted" you have seen that buildings and all terrain is destructable.

A long time ago I played myself.
Like normal TNT explosions, but if you hit the lower part of a building the higher parts of it will fall down as well. Hard to explain.. But that is the basic mechanism of it.

I like this idea very much and I hope it will get a place between the brawl servers. I also had this idea by myself before, but you've put in an amazing amount of detail. Good job!
I would like see this added. Playing on a large area, working together with your team. Amazing.

Great idea! There's just one thing, however: I was literally just about to make a thread on this.
    Seriously.
