Negative Ratings Discussion

5/7/8. I honestly don't see what the problem with negative ratings is. However, I assume that it can get frustrating when one player is spamming another player with negative ratings.

 

I got to say opinion number 1 .

What is the point of it ? To say oh that wuz very lame an I am gonna dislike it . Or if someone says good luck on your team thread . You rate it pointless . Are you happy ?

Let's use @ErebosGiant for example .
he got spammed with negative ratings . So he got mad and spammed back which made his reputation even worse . I also want to add that what ever he posts he gets a negative rating(s) .

Another example is , Brawler's resign thread . See ? He literally got a pointless , dislike and even a late !

Another example is YOU Chickenputty ! You basically get negative ratings everyday . Dont you get kind of mad when that happens . I for sure do .

Now the real question is Why keep the negative ratings ?

Option 7 would lead to a bunch of post spamming on the forums. Personally, I like negative ratings how they are. One thing I don't like, is that whenever I give one, I get a bunch of profile spam asking me to remove my rating because they care a lot about it. :|

 

8 but 1 is also fine to me.

 

Option 2 sounds best, although people should be more sensible with ratings.
Yet I don't think all negative ratings should become neutral, dislike I think for sure, yet pointless is deserving to be negative.

I love what @_PublicEnemy_ said. I also think negative ratings are EXTREMELY useful. Let's say someone with around 106 negative ratings applied for mod, while he only had about 287 positive ratings. That shows that a lot of community members might not like him, and he shouldn't be mod.

 

1 becuse negative rating makes a bad inpact on the community (i am like 10 on the list of negative ratings)

 

7 or 8 would be great, I would really hate to see dislikes go.

Also I think option 7 could be improved by mixing in having to have a certain amount of likes/other positive ratings as someone who just spams useless/****ty stuff would still be able to rate something like anyone else.

If someone has a lot of dislikes it is because of their doing due to them being assholes/morons etc etc. Basically if they weren't assholes they wouldn't have all them negative ratings.

Haha you just want to be off the dislike list scrub, if you didn't do whatever **** you done to get those dislikes you wouldn't be on the list.

You hate me becuse before i spammed and now i have learnt a lesson and have many negative ratings. dont have like "peace no hate" wean your a hater. no flame war intended.

 

For one I don't hate you because you spammed, don't go jumping to conclusions.
I never had peace no hate, don't know what drugs you are on.
Also if you can't handle me being "mean" then I feel sorry for you.

 

Rating a stupid post negative helps making the one who made the post make better ones.

But a few idiots did get annoyed at how good I was at building and disliked almost every post I made in the ceasefire thread.

 

Plus if you are being spammed with dislikes that are unjustified then you can always report the one spamming the dislikes.

I would remove dislike because people spam it and says "I disliked it" as an exuse for spamming. But spamming pointless is abusing the ratings system which is against the rules. However, people spam it and get away with it so remove this aswell. But I would add a inappropriate rating for innappropriate posts. This would show the poster that his/her post was inappropriate without the rating being spammable and having an exuse.

The main issue with negative ratings is that people misuse them.
They are a good addition to the forum, but people just like to misuse them.
Let's say someone makes a sincere thread about how donators are not noobs. (War)
Quite often, said person gets a lot of pointless ratings. But their thread was totally sincere.
Let's look at my resignation. I got every rating possible. However, I don't see where a neutral or pointless rating would fit. I mean, the dislike could work because said player(s) disliked the fact that I was resigning. But a resignation isn't late or pointless.
Negative ratings should only be used if it's something like racism, something really stupid, or whatever. But the majority of the older forum members like using negative ratings on new members that don't know too much. This is similar to War, in which the excessive trash talk causes the majority of new players to leave because their feelings were hurt by the overwhelming amount of people calling them noobs and other insults. Or maybe when someone posts a "good luck" message on a thread and receives a pointless for it. (calling you out @F1r3tar ) And of course, the administration claims there is some trash talk in games (true) and that War is fine as it is (not true), filled with trash talk and ragers.
I kind of want negative ratings to be like, something that you use very occasionally. Maybe some guy posts a thread saying that "randomplayerign420 is a f***ing n00b & should die" or something else quite offensive. That should be, like almost the only occasion where you should give a negative rating. And of course, if it breaches forum rules or sounds totally stupid.
TL;DR - Negative ratings are good but people misuse them. Therefore idea 1 would likely work the best if nothing changes, or idea 8 if somehow the community can change their usage of negative ratings.

Remember when we had the old old forums where we just had likes? It was so much easier when it was just liking peoples posts or just disagreeing through a quote.
Plus people weren't banned over the forums :v
