A better way to balance guns

    Alot of people complain about, oh this gun is too op oh wtf hax op

    and there has been a lot of changes to these

    a better way to balance the guns is just for each category to have the same damage (unless its aa12 or dissa) and then let the other stats determine how good the gun is

    heres what i got

    assault rifle: low damage high fire rate (about 5-7 shot kill)

    sniper rifle: extremely high damage (about 2 shot kill) extremely low fire rate
    (dissa damage is 3 shot kill)

    shotgun: high damage low fire rate (about 3 shot kill)
    (aa12 damage is 5 shot kill)

    smg: extremely low damage extremely high fire rate (about 10-12 shot kill)

    pistol: medium damage medium fire rate (about 4-5 shot kill)

    No way, everything would be totally generic and this would unbalance more weapons.
    Also, too weak.

    • This would make the lower tier guns more powerful than the higher tier guns.(the m16 will be just as good as skully. HELL NO!) This just makes the guns too equal. The main aspect of the higher level guns is higher damage. The other stats are pretty insignificant exept for a few guns. None of the SMG's are OP and therfore should stay the same.

    This would make every single gun the same. The only difference would be fire rate, range, accuracy, and clip. It would be incredibly difficult to make each one somehow different from the rest. The prestige guns namely would barely be different from the normal ones, and if they were no one would bother to use under prestige weapons.

    Great example right now with your system with the current system is the l118a and the barrett. The barrett does like 1 extra heart of damage or something like that, but it doesn't one shot and requires the target to already lose a small amount of health to be better then the l118a. It has less ammo overall as well (can not say anything about fire rate,as I do not know the difference). The l118a is a starter weapon, and is better than the barrett 9/10. Now imagine this with every weapon. Examples would be the Famas and m16, or M4 and AK. What can you change without one being better than the other? You would have to do this with every gun.

    i dint say only change the damage

    i was thinking about every thing having the same damage but other stats are different

    say you could nerf the m16's fire rate and buff the fire rate f the skullcrusher

    plus in real life all the guns do the same "damage" its only a matter of where you shoot them but this is a cod based server so nothing is realistic

    In Call of Duty, each weapon has different stats.
    Let's go to CoD 4 and compare the M4A1 with the AK-47.

    As shown here, the AK-47 does 10 more hp of damage (40-30) when compared with the M4 Carbine (30-20).
    However, it has a slower firerate and higher recoil.
    Giving all the guns identical stats in terms of damage would make the game quite boring. Rather, they should be different but balanced.
    For example, let's take the M16 and Skullcrusher.
    The M16 could do 2.5 hearts per bullet while the Skullcrusher could do 3.5 hearts. (or 3)
    However, the Skullcrusher has more spread and recoil, as well as a smaller magazine capacity.

    Yes, as BBSlayer stated above, this would just make every gun equal except for damage, fire rate etc...
    And just to add an example. The dragunov, 2 shot kill and high fire rate (For a sniper). Very good in my opinion. Sometimes I use it for some specific maps too. After all, I would say it's a very good gun that you can unlock in lvl 8, which is very hard to get. Also, look at the ak-47. You can get it in lvl 14 or 16 ( I don't remember xD ) which isn't a very high lvl. Ak is a good gun, especially with scavenger.
    My point is that the guns doesn't need to get balanced or anything. You get good enough guns in the earlier lvls, so I honestly don't see the problem.

    This idea would make leveling up almost pointless, all the guns would be the same besides the damage and fire rate. I think it's fine the way it is now because there's so much diversity in weapons that you can use, if this idea was implemented, only the higher tier guns would be used. Also, all the players (so far) that commented on this thread don't approve of this idea, imagine the players in-game that don't use the forums...

    i don't think 4 weapons in each category is very diverse

    They may not be too unique, but they're more unique than having guns that all do the same damage.

    I meant all the guns; shotguns, snipers, etc.

    Much hate.

    Although I don't think this would work either.

    The guns seem fine to me.

    If people are complaining, they can just survive a couple of infects, level up, and get the better guns.

    Problem solved.

    Weapons need to have different stats, assault rifles can't always be the same with slightly better changes.
