How do you feel about neutral ratings being removed?

Discussion in 'Off Topic' started by BrawlerAce, Oct 28, 2014.

?

Should neutral ratings have been removed?

  1. Yes, they were causing a negative influence like negative ratings were.

  2. No, their removal causes even more restriction and strict rules.

Personally, I think removing them just took away a lot of the freedom. May as well return to likes only, while we're at it.
The rating system was supposed to let us express our opinions without making a single post.
Now we have to directly reply. There will be more insulting and flame wars, now...

I feel like the admins are making this too strict. Now how are we supposed to say we disagree with someone without making a pointless post saying I disagree?

Sometime I really want to give someone a rating, I was indifferent,or they deserve a rating but i'm on the fence. Neutral rating was were I would go...but now I can't. Now I have to disagree or agree, which bugs me,bad.

Members brought this upon themselves with spamming disagrees... And then once they where gone people started spamming neutral ratings.....

I am not surprised about the admins actions and don't disagree with them.

    A thought:
    Why?

We can always reply to the post, but does removing the rating make the forums any better?

I wish I could rate this agree.
    Or like. :v

But yes, does removing ratings really make the forum better? Or does it restrict us, and cause other negative effects?

I don't think that "Confusing" is needed, but I think the disagree rating is likable.

There was nothing inherently wrong with neutral ratings. It was the people using the ratings that were the problem. It's like the old brick metaphor. They can be used to build a castle, or to give someone a bloody concussion. As for their banning, I am, ironically, somewhat neutral. However, with what I have seen, especially recently, I am leaning more in favor of their removal. Their removal matters relatively little to me. It has it's pros and cons. Perhaps it will encourage people to respond to posts, rather than just rating and leaving. However, that poses another issue, as people most likely cannot be trusted to use tact while disagreeing. However, posts are easier to deal with than ratings are. So, the question remains. What is the least of the two evils? That remains to be seen I suppose... However, if indeed neutral ratings have become a problem, then I, one who knows how to use ratings responsibly, am willing to give up my freedom to use them in order to make the forums a better place. Sacrifice... listen guys, don't only take yourselves into consideration here. Take a moment and consider everyone else, the community as a whole. Can we say in all truthfulness that we as a community have been responsible with our ratings? Clearly we haven't, otherwise we would not be having to discuss the present issue. So, I will repeat myself. I, for one, am willing to sacrifice my freedom to use neutral ratings in order to make the forums a better place. I hope I am not the only one with this mindset. Please take into consideration the greater good when making your decision.

The people who disagree with the removal of the ratings, already say the same things as I would say. So I won't be saying anything but just letting you know (those who disagree with the removal) that I strongly disagree with what has taken place.

Is this all about what happened with previous threads? It kind of seems like its going into that path. Besides that, for now you can remove neutral ratings and if a flame starts, then you can always change it back.

If I could rate this post agree, I would. I agree with everything you said, especially that each side has its pros and cons.

Thats like guns, plastic bags, pills, and cars being removed from society because people were shooting, littering, abusing, and running over others.
Just because something is used wrong, doesnt mean that it should be removed. I feel like removing the neutral ratings was just a sloppy, temporary fix for this so-called "problem"

Now people have to actually voice their opinion publically instead of mindlessly ganging up on one person and creating a disagree train on single members just because they have an unpopular opinion. Pretty good change.

Then its gonna be a giant orgy of opinions on a thread and not everyone is going to like that.
You really think that people who cant even handle getting a neutral rating are going to appreciate someone publicly stating why they think theyre wrong?
