It's a virus. Brawl doesn't have any popup ads.

 

Go to settings then extensions, check if you see anything odd, delete if you do.

 

I get TONS of this stuff (mod downloading), here's what I do.

If you're using Chrome;

1. Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
2. Click Tools.
3. Select Extensions.
4. Delete any unknown extension.

Usually, these would extensions would cause problems like this.

If you're using Firfox;

1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button. On the menu bar, click on the tools button. At the top of that menu, click Add-ons.
2. In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions or Appearance panel.
3. Select the add-ons that are unknown to you.
4. Click the Remove button.

If this doesn't work, try re-installing the browser.
I would also recommend getting some anti-malware software in the future to reduce this problem.
