Jokes, but here are some tips:
Don't play spy until you get better gear
Pyro and Heavy are good starter classes
Scout is if you know maps well
Sniper on large maps like high rise
    Medic when playing in tournaments
Spy when there are lots of snipers
    Demoman great over all
Pyro is easy, fire axe works well with flamethrower

    First, friend this scroob: http://steamcommunity.com/id/BBSlayer/
Second, friend this scroob that knows a lot more about TF2 than me: http://steamcommunity.com/id/majorajora

Now, like any game, researching the mechanics, map knowledge, tip videos, or general how-to's are a great place to start. I would start off by picking a character you want to play with and going from there. Learn the strengths and weaknesses of each class, and figure out how to use them effectively. TF2 is like any other game, the basic stuff seems unimportant, but it helps in the long run. There is no one thing that will make you better than anyone else.
Oh, and just plain old in game experience is great too. Devote a lot of time into the game so you can get a feel for everything. You might fail, you might succeed, but know could help to improve you.

Message me on Steam if you ever want to play. I am always willing to have some fun in TF2.

Thanks for the tips. I actually started playing as a soldier and I'm enjoying that class a lot more than the others. I'm pretty sure that I'll start off with soldier and then learn my way from there with the other classes.

Excellent! When I get home tomorrow from school, I'll go through my inventory and see if I have any spare soldier equipment that you could use.

Want to hide the noob inside?
Don't wear the gibus, mercenary, or anything you get from achievements really.
Make sure you know what you're doing when you play MvM; don't play until you've gotten tf2 experience.
Medic is probably the hardest class for starters; don't try to push yourself and play classes you don't like.
Soldier is a good choice to start with, It's my main.
If you want any tips on soldier, I can add you on steam. Pm me your steam if you want :3

Add me on Steam: MattXzK or Doge.

    1) Don't give a damn about the KDR, because it doesn't matter in this game.
    2) Watch some YouTube tutorials.
    3) Don't listen to Endercow, I have had a very high score as a stock spy multiple times.
    4) Play through training levels before getting into the action.
    5) I can give tips on Heavy, Scout, W+M1 pyro, Engineer and Demoman.
    6) Practice offline with each class separately.

Scout, dies easy and is very powerful at close range if you can aim.
Pyro, very easy class to play.
Soldier, probably the most versatile and mobile class in the game, has the ability to get around the map super fast and can do a lot of damage.
Demoman, can be a fairly durable class along as being a great melee class.
Heavy, fairly easy class to play with his large amount of health.
Engineer, fairly good class for defending a certain area.
Medic, Is good for keeping the team alive, not a whole lot a medic can do in terms of damage.
Sniper, can be a really good class if you have good aim, can one shot any class with a headshot and low health classes in one shot anywhere if fully charged.
Spy, a hard class to play, stock items are actually fairly good though there is a watch that makes you very hard to kill.
