I think that he means that when you play War and click Tab you see the player's flag and same with Teamspeak. Correct me if I'm wrong, personally I like the idea but think of the lag :I if there would be any

This would work better as a forum implementation than in War.

It's not really possible to code something like this, but I'd assume your flag would be assigned based on your geographical ip when you log in.

It is possible. There are existing plugins that can identify a players country. The only issue is that most players want to keep their location disclosed because they like their privacy.

 

I don't think this shows the country of origin in the first place. I think you mean country you are in (that is what teamspeak does). Although I was born in America, I could be playing in Canada (I do go to Canada a lot). As said above, it is almost impossible to code. It also could invade the privacy of some (some people are sneaky spies that don't want people to know what country they are in). If it were possible, I would want it to be current place in the world you are in. Another possible problem could be VPN's and Proxy's (I don't know how they work so correct me if i mess up please) Say I live in china, but I am using a VPN because i wanna use facebook and youtube. I would be connecting to brawl on that VPN which says (I think) that I am connecting from the U.S. even though im in China. Again correct me if i'm wrong. Finally, why be concerned about someones origin, when the admins could be more focused on coding 2.0 (i hope)?

The server efficiently track your location at all times anyway, so that's no problem.

Useless feature, but at least it would bring a little bit more color to War. +1.

 

Maybe not the flag of your country. Not like teamspeak. But maybe the name of your country. Like this:

For exemple: FRA-60+Algelier

 

What if someone's from Syria and they don't want anyone to know. . . . .

 

One problem, (this is by no means offencive), but in my time of war, Americans have dominated over all other amounts; some have been nice and fun to play with but others have just been offencive, snobby and immature, thinking America is the only country in the world. This idea is bound to cause hatred over the community and people being disrespectful by joking around saying they're from Korea or something.

 

That could be with the ip indeed; although it seems a bit far fetched.

 

My cape is the Armenian Flag, what more could I ask for? :v

 

My thoughts on this

 

Great idea, but players should be able to disable this feature for privacy issues.
