Gun Names

    I think that gun names should be able to be changed in resource packs. This can be done quite simply (or at least I think it could) by only adding the ammo count to the name of the gun, instead of the name of the gun and ammo count. This would add some more work to making a resource pack, but not too much. Once again I do not know how much work it would take as I have not made a complete resource pack before, but I believe it's not too hard to rename items.

    THis can't be done. The files in the server that change the names of the guns cannot be changed by YOUR own files...

    Its the servers files vs your own client computer, so the posiblities are zero.

    Nice idea though!

    Even though Phanta's War client ain't a resource pack, he was able to edit the l120_isolator's name to make it the l115_isolator. I think it's possible to edit the gun names as I think I've seen it done before.

    Just for customization. For example if you were using a texture for a gun that isn't in the game, you could rename it to go along with its texture. It wouldn't be much, but it's pretty simple to do.
    You didn't read it correctly, the name of the gun would be removed and replaced with the custom name and only the ammo count would be kept.

    Great idea, I would name the Isolator the IsoLAGer @Striker_Sly

    I've never made a resource pack though, so I don't know if you can rename items. I will research it a bit.

    You can indeed rename items in a resource pack. Search for the en_US.lang file, there you will see a list of names for items of which you can rename.

    Infact, I read the comment perfectly. You are the one who doesn't understand.

    The ammo count and the gun name is part of the name. It's all in the name.

    To change the gun name you need to edit the server files, which isn't possible as a regular player..
    I am saying that the ammo count and the gun name is the name.

    When did I say that a normal player would change the name? The gun name would simply be removed in the configuration files of the server and only the changed name and ammo count would be kept.

    I'm using regex to replace the gun names in my client.

    .*«\s*

    or something.

    It's impossible to do server-side.
