hello everyone! As you may know ALOT of people dislike peoples staff application polls (and I am not just saying that for me) as you can see on this threads poll: https://www.brawl.com/threads/38191/ has MANY dislikes and I don't seem to know why.. @RyGuy88228's application is very well thought out and well said and yet people still dislike it and I only have one theory for this and that is the person who disliked it has been denied in the past and I am not saying that for everyone that dislikes but at least a 40% rate of the people who dislike have been denied in the past and since they where not accepted they bash on someone else's staff application so they don't get accepted. I would like to ask the community of McBrawl to give your honest opinion on someones staff application because they may be able to help you in the future and other players in the future. So I am saying this for everyone that votes on peoples staff applications give your honest opinion and even if it is your friend that applied STILL give your honest opinion don't just boost your friends rep just because they are your friend give your honest opinion about how they did on their application if you think they did great than +1 it if you think they did bad -1 I guess my point in all this is have a honest opinion in someones application. And for those people who dislike because someones grammar is not good.... Like what??? you dislike someones application because of their grammar did you not read how the person answered the questions?? You just came in to see there grammar? That's ridiculous when you are giving someone rep on their application you don't -1 because of stupid little things they missed you -1 because their application is not good, not fitting for McBrawl community, lacking detail and key words. Sorry for ranting I just had to say this because every application I go into no matter how good it is has TONS of dislikes anyway sorry for wasting every ones time with this I hope you see my point in all of this and have a great day! -Mellow :grinning:

I'm always honest (staff apps, Creative apps, etc). If someone votes no, so be it. It's their opinion if they don't like that person; we should respect that.

P.S. The poll has very little influence on the final decision.

What Nine said and also, maybe the people who voted no had other reasons apart from his application? They might feel like he has the wrong character for Moderator, isn't active enough ingame or on Teamspeak.

If I dislike someones character I'm not going to vote yes on his application just because its well written.

Just for clarification, I was not denied because of my application. I was denied because of my age

    This sums up my opinion.

    Well, Mellow, you see,
Long applications are too common these days. And if I believe the person isn't ready for such a responsible position, I'll give it a -1. I purely judge the apps based on how ready the applicant is, and how active they are.

    EDIT:
We already have enough staff members.

We don't really have that much staff... IF you think about it, during certain time zones, there are no staff on certain servers.

    *cough* APPLY *cough*

    On Topic-

Players vote "no" on applications for many reasons. Jealousy, hate, may be age, activity or just to go along with what a staff member said.
Everyone can give their opinion on a player when he/she applies for staff. However, we use the poll just to get an idea of the community's thoughts. I'm no SMod or Administrator, but I don't think they look at the number, they look at who voted what.

I stated that in this rant that it's not just one thing people vote no for. But then explain why @RyGuy88228 application is very good well written and yet people still bash on it? and the people that -1 because of dumb things like grammar why does it matter if someone has grammar as long as they are good in all other fields? It's stupid of some things people -1 for.

Well of course not but if the player has proved them self in all fields you would still vote no just because of there character? What if the person that you used to know that applied has changed their ways and now they are doing things good for the community you would still vote no?

Yes but that would not be their honest opinion on the person's application they are only voting no because they dislike them? that is pretty stupid if you ask me. But I am not here to fight and I respect your comment Nine. I just feel it's not right just to vote no because of someones age, grammar, or simply because they dislike the person. As long as they are mature and they are helpful in game on the forums and on TeamSpeak age and grammar doesn't really matter and yet people still -1 because of it.

The poll doesn't influence the decision at all because it can in some cases be very biased.

As for your point about people voting no simply because of the applicants grammar, no one will ever bash anybody for minor grammar mistakes. Even the staff make loads of mistakes. However, if the application is full grammatical errors, that is a sign of bad english speaking skills. This is a major issue because as a mod, you will have to deal with players in english. Not only players that speak english quite well, but also players who don't speak english that well. And to be able to understand players with bad english, you have to be pretty good at speaking and writing the language yourself. I therefore think that voting no based on bad english is a perfectly valid reason.

Just because someones punctuation isn't good does not give you the right to vote no on there application. Or if someones grammar isn't exactly good does not mean they can not speak English.

And also, I can vote no if I want without you ranting about it. The poll is almost ignored when the staff reviews the applications.

Do your best and forget the rest. People are not going to always support what you decided to do in life and you will here more "no's" than "yes" answers. That said, keep doing what you want to do.

Point of this: Don't let others tell you what to do. Sometimes you have to go against the grain to be great.

Yes but what would you be voting no for? Nothing? That's pretty selfish of you.

I'm not going to list evey possible reason for me to vote no. I've already listed one very good reason for voting no above. And how is voting no for whatever reason selfish of me?? I'm only giving the applicant MY HONEST OPINION. Isn't that exactly what you wanted? Just because I'm giving my honest, fair and unbiased opinion does not neccisarily mean that I'm going to be voting yes.

You did not state it was your honest opinion you stated: And also, I can vote no if I want without you ranting about it. The poll is almost ignored when the staff reviews the applications. You said nothing about your honest opinion.

He did not state it was his honest opinion. he just said he will vote no. No matter what I say but it's not up to me it is up to him.

Ahhhh you must have misunderstood me lol. I didn't mean that I'm going to be voting no just because I feel like it. I said that I can vote no if thats my opinion on if the person should be mod or not, and it doesn't matter that much anyways as the poll has next to none influence on the admins' decision. I hope this cleared it up for you mate:smile:
