Language specific forum

It is an interesting idea, but we will run into one problem: How to moderator a subforum if no staff member understands what you write there.

 

This could be possibly abused, as no one from staff knows a certain language, and therefore, we could run into quite a bit of trouble. A good exmaple could be Russian - I'm pretty sure I'm the only staff member who can speak and write in Russian :v
So, it would be really complicated.

 

Great idea in concept. Getting Mods and players that speak or read the number of different languages could prove difficult.

Having a number of different languages forums could also be difficult to manage.

Just my thoughts.

 

This is a good idea, don't get me wrong, but there are a lot of ways player could exploit this, especially if there are no staff members who knows how to speak it. Recruit staff members who can? Well, they need to be mature and just because you speak a certain language does not mean you're mature. If we could possibly find a way around this, I think this would greatly improve the forums and our community.

No reason for more than one language subset if people can simply translate something they don't understand, and yes I'm aware it's not fluent sometimes, but it still works.

Also, both Firefox, and Chrome have similar translate abilities on right click, you simply have to click.

 

I agree with these. The problem will be moderating these forums.

How would these forums be kept under control? Imagine if the forums we have right now could not be moderated. It would most likely be hectic.

 

This community has a large ethnic diversity. If someone's being abusive, their message could simply be reported.

 

How are we supposed to judge if the report was correct or not if we don't understand it?

 

Google Translate could translate the jist of what's written. Have faith in the power of a translator. :V

 

About the problems stated above. We could do a forum if a set number of staff spoke the language.

 

Devil is in the details. People could talk trash or it might not translate right.

 

Not too many threads actually get reported even on the forums now. Think of how this absence will accumulate on a forum with a different language, where even less people will use it. There would not be too many reports.

 

Couldn't the staff just use a translator to quickly copy the text into? With all this modern technology I don't really see how translation is a problem on a page where it is written text

What do you mean? A translate option for the staff or for the players? Also, there can't be too many languages because that would get really complicated, especially when people start arguing about why their language isn't included...
