Hi there! I'm just some randy from CTF, and like a lot of other randies from MCPvP, the chat system is very different and occasionally a nuisance for us. After viewing a few discussions on the matter, Brawlers want to keep it the same, and MCPvPers want it gone, so why don't we try some middle ground?

    Suggestion:
Have an option to turn off the chat filter

    How this would work:
Each player would have the ability to toggle the chat filter for them. This would stop other players messages from appearing as they would filtered. Ex if you turn off chat filter and another player was using all caps, it would remain as all caps.

Thanks for considering, and any feedback would be great

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I like this idea... For those that are on the older side, they'd be able to see swear words and such.

That'd remove virtually any purpose of the filter. Practically any kid, especially someone young would have this disabled.

They could make it so you had to ask a mod/apply to get the filter. That would make it a little more protective, I guess. Not foolproof, sure, but better than nothing or having an automatic option to turn the filter off.

And that's an issue why? If the person set the filter off it's obvious they didn't want to have a filtered chat.

There really isn't much point in a filter if it was optional, because it's supposed to prevent certain words from being directly displayed at the younger community. Unless there was a way to only place the filter for someone younger, I don't see a solution.

Its not an issue if the person sets it off out of their own will, as they decided to turn off the filter. Just because they're kids doesn't mean they need a chat filter, and if they do want it off then it just proves that a toggle option is wanted.

Maybe you are right (we have gun servers), but what's really the point of keeping the filter since practically any kid coming on to Brawl knows profanity?

That's what I'd like to know. It's cool to have a filter for those who actually do want to censor words, but I'm pretty sure many people know what a curse word is. Just because the demographic is children doesn't mean they don't practice that stuff, as CoD and Counterstrike are rather curse heavy, and War/Minestrike are based on them.

Options, maybe? For those who want a filter and don't want to see a bunch of spam and caps lock, there's a way to turn it all off. Maybe for when those 12 year olds who will curse the most mind you, start flaming on you in chat, maybe you might change your mind and want to stop listening to them.

Another addition (if Brawl doesn't have it) would be the ignore command, since curse filters don't censor harassment /ignore would be a great thing for those few rotten people.

This. Except that one time I wrote a teams plugin. That didn't count.
