2 Updates on What I believe should be done

Former MCPVP players still need to get used to Brawl's staff system, rules and all, so most of them are not ready by now. They also still need to show to us, the brawl staff, that they are trustworthy, mature and active. It is great if they already were on MCPVP, but we would like to judge that ourself.

 

They got denied because they applied for PVP survival, a server they aren't fit to moderate. They will be given trial mod on the servers they moderated on MCPVP when they are ready. They are being prepared currently. Just be patient.

 

We will not just promote anyone claiming he was a MCPVP staff member, we have the staff lists and @NomNuggetNom to help us pick the right ones.

Very informative post, I like it a lot. I agree with most of what you're saying, you make some good points.

As you know, I'm very new to the community, however I did have lots of experience with the old staff on MCPvP. I'm not 100% sure how the promotions have gone thus far, however I did peep around in the applications area. I've read over the applications, and kind of noted what is usually accepted and what isn't.

Based on what I've seen, I think the administration is doing a fantastic job in selecting their staff members! I feel for you, I see where you're coming from, however this is a new community, a new server, and a relatively new start. If an old staff member from MCPvP who was abusive does end up coming into a position of power, I'm more than certain they will be removed! Since there are new administrators, things that could have slid by before won't be accepted this time around.

You must realize that this isn't a community on its last legs which needs to let any mistakes go. There's no shortage of staff applications and/or people who are more than capable of being promoted, if someone messed up before, and does so again, there's no reason that they must be given amnesty. Things being the way they are will either result in the baddies being caught and demoted, or forcing them to change.

I wouldn't stress too much over it, in my opinion the best thing to do is put faith in the administrative team to handle any issues that may arise in the staffing system. I'm more than positive they'll do a fantastic job, and you won't have to handle the abuse you did in the previous server!

Reading onwards, you also said that you think great potential moderators are getting denied because of their activity, on the forums as well as in game.

I have to disagree, at least partially. Just because you come to a community with a perfect attitude and knowledge of Minecraft doesn't mean that it makes up for never being online, you know? Activity is a huge part in every community, and is a must have. You're correct, never judge a book by its cover, but how can you make a just judgement if the person in question never lets you get to know them?

Thats just my 2 cents on the matter, even if I did ramble on a little much.. My opinion is that the way things are staff selection-wise is completely acceptable, unless I'm missing some key factor anyway.

 

Don't forget they'll start off as trial mod, meaning they'll be more closely monitored and assessed than global mods.

You make some good points.

However, based on everything I have heard it does make sense to evaluate everyone based on the new expectations and then select those that meet the expectations.
