    Should people make choices based on what will benefit the majority of people in a society or should a person make choices based on what is best for him/her regardless of the consequences?
    this question has really stumped me, does anyone have an opinion for this? please provide an example if u can.

    It depends on whether or not you benefit in any way by doing something majority wants. If you gain something from that, you may as well do it, as long as you are capable of doing it and taking full responsibility.

    If you want to do something more self-focused, then make sure that it doesn't affect your reputation or cause harm. Being selfish can be both good and bad. It heavily depends on the situation.

    Depends on the situation. Your terms are too vague to give a good idea, but in general if it would have a positive effect on society but a negative effect on a person, society takes priority over the individual, no matter how harsh that sounds.

    This is a essay topic that i have and my opinion is right in the middle so i dont know what to choose. to me one cant exist without the other and the good and bad effect of both balance each other out

    Say you do one good thing for yourself: That benefits 1 person.
    Say you sacrifice a majority of your time helping a starving village: That benefits the entire village and more generations of that village to come.

    Easy enough question tbh.
