    Sup Brawlers,

I’m a stats junky and I was looking at the stats on our leader board today. Based off the data that I was able to extract, for players with 10,000 kills* or more I was able to develop a bell curve based on how statistically good a player is.

Here’s what I came up with as a way to measure how statistically “good” someone is based on data from the leader boards which provided the sample size. I analyzed a variety of factors such as KDR (Kill Death Ratio), total kills, total deaths, and rank.

The truly great players are not the ones with the most kills on the leader boards. In some cases, these players are mediocre to just plain average, but they just play more.

    • Rather, the best players are those with high KDR’s versus the field of competitors and over time someone with a higher KDR would statistically beat someone who has played more to appear on the leader boards.
To take subjectivity out of the equation, I took the standard grading bell curve to provide a better quantitative look.

The data may surprise you. I’ve sorted the data to reflect what I came up with as the best player ranking. Number of kills leader board rankings were statically less important than KDR.

This was just a statistical look at the best players, not an evaluation of their total contributions to the game.

    Evil

*@Yinscape was excluded because he didn’t meet the 10,000 kill minimum and he would be considered Elite.

The good old times when my KDR was 4.45. Atleast I'm still in the Professional part :stuck_out_tongue:

A long time ago I suggested a formula like KDR multipled by kills to determine how good a player is, because that would consider both, skill and experience, and strike those with 150 kills and a 150 kdr out. This is a pretty much similar approach.

I was just pulling data off the leader boards. With a 4.0 you would be a "Professional" based on my calculations.

And although I am not on the leaderboards I would be considered "Elite"....go figure.

That was a very similar idea yes. I ruled out the outliers who didn't meet the 10,ooo Kill minimum and I modeled out a million battles to simulate them all having the same number of opportunities to make the sample size even.

    @Lord_Roke brilliant minds think alike.

Increasing to 50k kills would only eliminate 1 player on this list (the top one).

Like sjuka said what about shugy? He has almost a better kdr than melt.
Oh and he's not some lvl 5 guy with 8kills and 0 deaths.

Kdr neither any stats tell nothing about your true skills. For example most players with 3+ kdr just camp in a corner and nuke; everyone with scavenger can do that.
True skill is knowledge of maps, able to dodge bullets in the middle of the battlefield, fast switching with items, and quickscoping. (real quickscopes)

Exclude smurfs and you will have a somewhat proper list.

I think true skill has to be measured numerically somehow to truly determine the best.

Otherwise it it is just a guesstimate.

I think there is a trade off to be on the leader boards. Either have no life (possibly fail school, no social life, low relationships) or time manage and limit hours played.

My conclusion is the best players that have a high KDR per time spent playing are better. Anyone can be average and just play for hours and hours but not be great thus they would appear on the leader boards but not truly be Elite.

    Just my opinion.

    So I'm a professional huh?

BTW, there is one flaw in your plan. Many of these players leave whenever a gungame or FFA comes on because they want to protect their KDR, your formula doesn't take those players into account. Some players play for KDR, and others play for fun, and by the way happen to have a good KDR too. Their is no statistical way to tell them apart.

Regardless of how a player plays, whether they leave during certain games or dodge bullets the numbers are what they are. Everyone plays the game, knows the rules, and has the same opportunities.

Some are just better than others and the data shows that.

Many players that think they are "Elite or Pro" are really just average who play a lot. I modeled out a billion battles so everything was equal in the sample size and KDR was the determining factor as to who the best was.

I looked at variety of factors of the best players on the leader boards. KDR was the determining factor of the best players the rest was simple math.

The fact that you rank the top fifty by KD ratio means you're bound to have a higher error percentage with the players that have a lower KD in this spreadsheet (i.e. x < 5.00).
