The thing is about censoring it would be that, what if people said it for a good reason? But i understand why you would want it to be censored

 

I lost my English teacher to cancer about a week ago. I agree, it should be blocked.

Yes, cancer is something not to be joked about and it is a serious thing. I think it should be censored.

 

Yeah, I'm coming from more on the other side of this one. Sure, cancer is an issue that many have struggled with in the world, but so are many other things. I wouldn't consider the word "cancer" to be inherently offensive. I mean, it's a thing that can be used in normal conversation without any offense intended. It's not like it's a swear-word. Brawl already has done a good job censoring, and many already consider it excessive. While I truly am sorry for all of you who have lost family to cancer, I don't think that that warrants a censoring of a word not inherently offensive for the majority of the community that has not been affected by cancer. That being said, I wouldn't be too troubled if many wanted it censored and it was on account of that. I just don't want this setting a precedent. I'm just waiting for a thread asking for the censoring of the word "confederate" or something. .-.

 

Yes also censor aids, 41D5, kys, fak, Ez, scrub, nub, noob, scroob, die, and ho cause they're slightly offensive.

 

I think it depends on how the word is used.

There is no screenshot? I've never heard of another instance of this happening. If it becomes more of an issue, then maybe something should be done about it.

 

I notice how some people use the word cancer (rage-wise) to insult and or make someone feel bad. Honestly cancer isn't something to joke about, and using it as an insult makes it worse for some people.

 

Cancer means an extraneous part of something that should be removed. Cancer is also a very general name for a disease. TBH calling someone "cancer" is like calling someone useless crap. It's not that bad and sounds really stupid. However, saying "get cancer" is a threat. Tl;dr: this should be moderator-enforced.

 

I agree that people shouldn't joke about such a serious issue but censoring the word, although is a good idea, is easily avoidable.

 

I don't think the word cancer will be censored, it is an actual usable word.

 

I agree that things like that and Ebola and terrorist words should indeed be censored. They can really touch people and hurt them far more than some 'normal' swear words. Good post and hopefully the staff read this and respond in the way we all want them to.

Well I'm sorry about your friend, but I don't think just because of one instance where someone used the word "Cancer" offensively, should make it outlawed for everyone. Although I see where you're coming from, it's just not necessary. If he really bothers you that way, ask him to stop. If he doesn't, report him if you can

I think cancer shouldn't be censored. It's a regular word. They should instead make it bannable for a day or something, so take a screenshot of him using it inappropriately and he'll get banned or something like that
