I'm going to get a mic soon, and I have a question about it. On the teamspeak viewer, there's a little icon of a mic with an x across it to the side of a person's name. When I mouse over it says, "Insufficient talk power" or something like that. Is it saying I have insufficient talk power or they can't talk at all?

Insufficient talk power is revoked ability to use voice.
You could have a perfectly working mic, and still have your talk power redacted.

I don't really understand. Is it because they broke a rule? That can't be the case though since I see with staff too.

    Sorry, but I'm a ts3 nub :grinning:

It can be due to the channels permissions, requiring a certain amount of talk power, for instance if I made a channel, and set the req. of talk power to 1337, I'll give myself 1337, and I can talk, I'll give someone else 420, and they won't be able to.

I can understand the lobby channel being like that, but I see it with other channels. Looks to me like nobody can talk at all on pretty much any channel. I'm really sorry about the questions, but I've never used ts3 at all. The mic I'm getting soon would be my first one.

EDIT: I think I get it now. I wish there was a thread explaining the ts3 system.

When you create a channel, there is this option:

At the moment, it's set to zero.
If I change it to 1337, and make the channel:
I have that mic symbol, this means I have not been given permission to talk in the specific channel by a channel owner, admin, or operator.

If you right click, grant talk power...:

Bam, now it's a check, and I can officially talk.

Your mic will work perfectly fine with Ts3 so long as you know how to set it as the default for it, which is very simple.

Yes, I believe I can set my mic as the ts3 default mic when I use it as soon as I learn my way around the system.

So basically (on the ts3 viewer on the forums) if there is no mic icon at all, they can talk right? I get the thing about talk power, this question will most likely be the last one about this particular subject on ts3.

Also, about that last image, can anyone grant themselves talk power or just the channel owner/admins?

Pretty much so, if you're just a user in one of the main channels, you're normally blank I believe.
Regarding the image, I was the creator of the channel, only the creator of the channel or people that have been given a channel rank by the creator can grant talk power.
