    Build Tutorial 5: Paths

To start off you are going to want to make a "path template" as such.

This will just be a flat cylinder that is radius 3. I prefer to use this if the area is open, however, you can try many shapes. In this shape, you can edit the blocks. When you like your combination, you can do //sel cyl, and click in the center for pos1, and the outer block for pos2. (Picture below -- diamond=pos1, gold=pos2)

After that, do //brush #clipboard or //brush clipboard. Finally, when you are done, do //sel cuboid to go back to setting in "cubes"

Additionally, you could come up with a block "mix" (ex: 50%stone,50%cobble) and just do //brush cyl 50%stone,50%cobble 3 1 on a specific tool)

Here are some potential path templates just to get you thinking. Keep in mind there are hundreds of them. Something that you might want to also do is to include the primary ground block in your path. Ex: include sand in your "path template" for a desert map.

    Farmland/Rustic

    Desert

    Ruins

    Snow

    Underwater

Note: Try putting another block below transparent blocks as such.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when you have a 1 block 'elevation', it is a good idea to add slabs! Be sure the slab fits in with the theme.

That is it for now! I hope you learnt something out of this, and sorry for not doing these as frequently as I can.

Do you lengthen the path with world edit, or do you actually place the blocks, I didn't quite understand what the commands did except for //set.

You lengthen the path by binding a brush tool onto something and right clicking.

I just now saw this thread. I've never thought of layering the blocks or using clipboard templates for brushes. Thanks for sharing.

I need to read through more of these.

I've found elevated stone bricks to be a good form of path. These are very nice though, great job.
