(This is probably going to generate some hate, so I'm sorry in advance)
The brawl community has seemingly become what many may call "trash." More specifically, War.
    Example of this: http://imgur.com/PPORW05
I'm not here to just rant on about the people, I'm here ranting on about the people who try to stop these hooligans. Yes, I know many people do a good job of asking people to stop, or whatever, but it's the people that don't know what they're doing, or not making sense.
    Bad Example:
    1) Hooligan> ADASDassh avahiashiidhaishfashfiashuds
Pleb> Can we not? (I see so many people respond with this. It should really be: "Can you* not." The person who is saying this is not involved personally with the sin, so they should not be addressed in the argument.
    Good Example:
    1) Hooligan> **** you all mother ****ers.
    2) NonPleb> Chill, (fam*). (or) Relax, (bro*). (or) /msg Hooligan Hey bro, can you chill, please? I don't want you to be reported or banned. (You want to be nice/open/chill to the person that's the hooligan. You don't want to be like: "YO, STOP SPAMMING F***ER!" or "Let's not." You want to approach the person with good intentions, and try to be a "friend" to them. They will openly stop if you're being nice to them, rather than if you're being a jerk.

So overall, try to be open and calm to the person that is abusing the rules. Don't be too calm, but have a sense of relaxation. I often see people (and sometimes mods) with responses that seem like they're a robot or automated machine. By repeating the same thing over and over, with little to no care, the person will still spam, or curse, Today, I practiced this method. There was a huge chat war, and I managed to stop it by chatting with one of the offenders, and making him feel calm. Problem resolved.
So the next time you see someone abusing rules, be calm. Don't spit out an automatic "Let's not," response. Be human. And if that doesn't work..... /report.

Okay, this is bound to start a war, Pls no. I'm just expressing an opinion that I think could make the server a better place... -Flubbeh

*Not always needed, but can create a sense of calmness to others, seeing that you're being chill.

You might think our replies are often automated... That's cause they are. We have a command which allows us to effectively reply to any situation without us having to constantly type out a message which really gets tedious. A good way to sort of solve this is let the staff do the handling when they are online cause often someone will spam etc and then 4 people all tell the spammer to do things and the mod often gets overruled. If a staff member isn't on then report it if it's a rule violation and in the meantime try to reply like you were a member of staff: "Mrcowlick, please do not bypass the chat filter. It is against the rules" etc.

The part about mods is actually way too true.
It gets really annoying seeing the same exact response over and over and seeing nothing get done

I think "how to properly prevent problems" is you shouldn't make threads like these that are just stating problems that have been discussed a thousand times and have not been fix. All these threads do are make flame in my opinion.

Everytime of have ever dealt with a mod they have been this way. @Lord_Roke is a great example.

Also, I just thought of this, most people probably don't know what "Bypassing the chat filter" is. When I see someone saying things like "Fck!" or "F c u k," I just tell them to chill/relax. By saying "Don't bypass the chat filter," they probably don't understand what it means. Even if you want to say something like that, just phrase it different. You could say: "Please don't say things like that." or something of the like.

All around good points. The automated staff thing is probably annoying, but as cowlick said, it gets difficult trying to be creative with warnings. Maybe the auto-warnings could be more polite? idk. If everyone simply ignored the people who are like this, things would be better. ;V I've gotten to the point where everything that goes on in the chat simply amuses me instead of bothers me. :V I'm probably one of those people who are waaaay too relaxed, lol. :V
Wow, you new kid mods get all the toys. :V Back in the olden days, we actually had to write a warning letter (by hand), and send it to their address we stole by hacking everyone who ever came on Brawl.

The context of this is just hilarious.

    "Chill, (fam*)"

Oh that's some priceless daycare humor you've got there.

No, the best way to approach subhumans, is just to not to, unless you have some way of removing or getting that waste of tissue to shut up, then always choose the latter.

    "sin"
    Okay.

I'm just at a loss for words at this point.

I totally agree with you and I sometimes try to handle them in this way. I often ask them for the reason to why they are rude or whatever they are doing.
But sometimes these rule breakers need to understand that what they are doing is wrong. That's when I stop try to tell them politely and tell them instead, for example: "Stop with the spam."

Why can't the mods just kick the guy?
I mean for 10secounds or so..
Kick message = Count to 10
    and reconnect

it would be easy to make a command wich would be able to do that

This thread reminds me of this one time I managed to convince someone to stop cussing by saying this one girl likes him but doesn't like his cussing XD.

What'd you do tell him Chap was a girl?
Anyways, IMO stay put pf it unless it personally bothers you, and if you say something, say it like you are a guest in someone's house and are talking to another guest. Because that's really the scenario. No, MrWaffleman didn't invite you over for afternoon tea but you get the point.

I've used /report something like 10 times now and staff have come in a pretty timely fashion. Maybe I'm just getting lucky?

tl;dr: Sometimes saying "can ya not" is a better solution then trying to be polite for everything.

To be honest, saying "Can ya not" and "Chill bro" gets the same message across. One is arguably more respectful than the other. Highlight on arguably.

But the thing is that telling them to "please stop" will probably procure you the same results as "can ya not". Why?

Because people that are bypassing chat filter are intentionally doing so. They know that if they type in the f bomb, it'll come out as ****. They know that, and yet they choose to keep trying to type a bad word. They eventually type it in a way that makes the swear word obvious, but still passes the chat filter.

They are going out of their way to break the rules. If they were completely unaware of what they were doing, being respectful would make more sense; you don't want to accidentally piss off someone by saying "can you not" when they think they're not breaking any rules at all.

But that's hardly the case. These people that are bypassing chat filter are fully aware of what they are doing. A more forceful/less polite reprimand is in order.

I could see the respectful/open/caring approach working with spammers. Sometimes I get warned for spamming on other servers when in reality, all I'm trying to do is share my idea that may or may not be lengthy to someone else on the server.

But even then, it's clear that I'm not spamming.
The above isn't spamming as much as it is me rapidly typing. In this case, a mod, or anyone for that matter, should say something respectful, like, "Hey, please watch the message speed" or "Hey, could you just PM it to whoever you're talking to?"

Then I'll apologize like 20 times and then it's a win-win situation for everyone: no warning for me, and no one has to be rude to me ))

    BUT THE POINT IS

If someone is intentionally breaking the rules, you have a pretty good justification for saying something that's not 100% polite like "can ya not" or "stop".

    Thanks for reading
