How can Brawl make money from competitions.

    Because of Mojang's brilliant new EULA, Brawl is now going to be strapped for cash unless it can find new ways to make money. I suggest that Brawl sponsors competitions on its servers, like it does now, but everyone who wants to join has to pay $1. Brawl can give out part of the money as part of the prize, but can give out ranks and coupons for the Brawl shop for the rest. For example, a HG tourney is held, and 500 people attend and pay to be part of it. Brawl gives out $200 as part of the prizes ($150 for first, $30 for second, and $20 for third) and gives out ranks/coupons for the Brawl store. Brawl comes out with $300 that they can spend on running the server, and the players have fun and the winners feel that the prize was totally worth it.
    It is imperative that there is a free money prize that isn't specifically for Brawl only because it will attract other players outside the server who aren't interested in a prize that only applies to Brawl. Brawl and the community can help let other players know outside of Brawl about the competition (ads on the Minecraft forums, redit, etc.) and bring them to the competition, and maybe even bring them in as a permeant part of the Brawl community.

    I see the idea you proposed being profitable to Brawl, but it still has some flaws that I will point out:

    It is clearly betting - Yeah, I know 1$ is not that much, but compare that to the rage players give, for example CS:GO betting. No matter how much it is, it's considered betting. Even though players who enter in are aware of the penalty, you always have misbehaved players here and there, this can cause a rage for the loss of money, and can be considered fraudulent or scam worthy by some players. I have never seen a betting factor for real money in Minecraft before, and I don't think it sounds very good to be the first to do so.

    What if someone cannot attend the tourney? - What would happen if this were to play out? How would the refund procedures go? Some thought would have to be put into this.

    Brawl would struggle to get a HG tourney with 500 players even if its for free, let alone if its $1 to join. I doubt Brawl will be able to get enough players to give out a decent money prize and still make a profit from it. For now, Brawl would be better off with competitions which give non-money based prizes.

    If they aren't able to make it they will get composition in the Brawl store but won't get a refund. There will be a warning before they join the server and pay about this.

    Mostly Brawl will be working on and selling cosmetic items. These will not affect gameplay, but will make you look savvy af. :3

    The Minecraft EULA was around when mc came out we all signed it when we got the game

    It never changed they just turned around and let it happen until last year the time mcpvp shut down and then didn't even enforce it until now adding servers to a black list

    I don't know how this will work after the EULA, but MCPVP was really smart to have the qualifying for the QQ. Besides the 4 free kits, some other paid kits were also available for qualification. This encourages people to buy kits coz the slots for the free kits will fill up quickly, and to use another kit could increase their chances
