Sup Brawlers! I've been working on this Virgil style epic all weekend, and I thought I'd share it with you all. You can find who Virgil was, and what he wrote here. In my studies, I have been reading his Roman Epic "The Aenied" and this is based on his style.

This story has a sequel! That can be found here.

This is a school assignment, so I would have tagged some of you, but that would look weird to my teachers

    Enjoy

    The Angels and the Titans

Sing, o Muse, of the sacrifice of Gladious the Angel whose great deed was to be the turning point of the greatest war of our age

Sing of the acceptance of fate, of Gladious looking at his distraught Mother.

Sing of the epic battle between the greatest powers ever to haunt the earth.

Gladious son of Omenus, a young and powerful Angel, with great respect and love of his people, lead his father’s armies with integrity.

The Angels abide on the planet Noff, a very green and white looking planet, with verdant trees lining the valleys, joyful waterfalls clinging to the rocks, and birds singing in the air.

The Angels crafted their cities with white marble mixed with diamonds, and on the top of the biggest hill in the city of the Angels lived Omenus, king of Noff.

He lived in a palace, also made of white.

Their city, so resplendent in white, is often mistaken for the White Gates, where the gods dwell.

The Angels, strong and powerful, display deep courage, but they remain no match for the gods.

The gods and Angels are on good terms,

Although they bicker like squirrels fighting over acorns.

The relationship between the gods and the Angels is beautiful, and that’s why it has never come to darkness.

The first Angel came into being 13 generations before Omenus, when Apollo came down and had a child with Totha, said to be the most pure woman in history.

This is why the gods and the Angels are allies.

The Angels’ greatest adversaries are the Titans, having been in battle for many years; both thrust each other back year by year.

The Titans dwell on the planet Bond, where Athena came down and had a child with Clubius, which started the race of the Titans.

Three long generations later, their king, Darkenus,

Lusts for power more than any other being in the history of the universe.

Omenus, the king of the Angels, and all the ancestors before him, have tried to prevent Darkenus of obtaining that power, so they clash.

The gods don’t interfere with the battle because they swore an oath to both the Titans and the Angels not to attack either.

Because the Angels fear ultimate power in the hands of the Titans, the battle lives on.

Now in the third century of the battle, the Titans held land very close to Noff. Omenus’ forces were melting like wax, and Darkenus was close to victory.

The son of Omenus, the general, led the forces of the Angels along with Omenus. They rode white stallions with wings, while their enemies mounted huge winged hell-hounds.

The Titans were about 30 kilometers out of Noff, at the dawn of the Third Century. Omenus and Gladious’ Angels grew thin, like wheat in a thirsty field.

The Angels scattered, some were captured, many met their mortality, and others fled, for fear of the Titans, who grew strong with power.

The battlefield that saw the most bloodshed was the battle of the Clearing.

The Clearing is a place of no trees, about 3 kilometers wide.

The Clearing is 25 kilometers out of Noff.

Omenus had been struck by an arrow and was a few kilometers out of the fighting.

This made Gladious the only leader of the Angels while Omenus regained strength.

Toil, the general of the Titans, was sent to seek out where Omenus’ safe house was. Taking ten Titans with him, they scoured the nearby forests, until they found a tent guarded by three Angels.

“Come, we can take them,” said one of the Titans. The blunt reply of Toil: “No. They would not protect their king with only three warriors. There must be some other…”

While he was talking, an arrow struck him in the chest.

An ambush of 30 Angels from up in the trees had been waiting for the time to strike.

They slaughtered the other ten and took their weapons.

“This is only the first of many,” said the lead Angel, “We must engage higher security so that we protect our king. Go back to Noff and call for reinforcements.”

The remaining Angels went back into the trees, waiting for another scouting mission by the Titans.

The leader of the Angels went in to the tent where the king was resting.

“Sire, we have put an end to a mission meant to kill you. We are calling in more troops so that we may protect you with more strength.”

Omenus replied, “My strength is nearly returned. I will be back in the battle soon enough.”

The Angel, taking his helmet off, walked over to the bedside.

The King gasped, “Son! Why are you here? You should be off tearing those wretched creatures apart!”

Gladious, the son of the king, took a knife out of his sheath. “This is what they possess, Father. If you get struck by this, you will become one of them.”

The king replied, “Why, that is a deadly weapon. Now go back into the battle, and hold them until I return.”

Gladious turned, took an arrow out of his quiver, notched in his bow, and, hesitating, shot his father and king. Storming out of the tent, he flew away, toward the Titan camp.

Some scouts had come to check on the king, and found that he was dead. They also found that the one who had committed the murder had certain boots: those of the king’s son.

They were struck with awe, and fear, that the prince of Noff had defected. They spread the news to all around.

Gladious arrived at the Titan camp, just after the news had reached the ears of the Titans.

They welcomed Gladious, like a long lost hero.

They ate, drank, and made their ancestors proud.

The king of the Titans gloried in this valiant defector. Darkenus had some special missions for Gladious. The two talked into the darkness of night, while the battle in the Clearing raged on.

In the morning, they prepared for battle.

Gladious wore black, for the first time in his life; in fact, never before had an Angel done so.

He and Darkenus flew out to battle on their hell-hounds.

They drove the Angels almost out of the Clearing, when they heard a voice. The voice was of Gladious’ mother. The battle stopped.

Everything was silent as an empty room. She flew by the power of her own wings to her son.

Gladious, while watching her fly to him, grasped his bow, ready to let an arrow fly. When she landed, she walked over, and spoke,

“Son, how dare you kill your father, the king of the Angels, after all he’s done for you. He was the one who taught you how to fight. He was the one who spent his whole life, slaving away at two battle fronts; that of the Titans, and that of training you. You were his favorite person on earth, and you killed him like swatting a fly. The gods frown upon you this day, and a curse has been bestowed upon you. You have become a Titan.”

While she spoke thus, the pure white skin of Gladious became black mixed with red. He walked up to his mother and said humbly, “I know, Mother.”

After he said that, his mother flew away, tears in her eyes. Gladious too, had tears in his eyes, after all he’d done.

He turned to Darkenus, and said, “Lets finish this,” and after he said that, shot the arrow that had been in his bow.

The arrow hit Darkenus straight in the forehead, and he fell upon his knees. “But… but… you defected; you killed your own father!” moaned the astonished Darkenus.

Gladious replied, “Yes, at the price of your trust. I killed him only so that I’d gain your trust. I am also now Titan, a curse that I will have to bear.”

He then shot another arrow down the throat of his adversary. Darkenus, dead, fell upon the grass of the Clearing. “All you Angels who still have power left, come, take up arms! Fight! Kill every last Titan! Do not stop the attack until Bond is taken.”

The Titans fled after they saw their leader was killed.

After this, Gladious too, fell upon his knees while the Angels swarmed like bees around the Titans.

The curse had struck him hard now that he had finished his deed. His mother found him after the battle had shifted away from the Clearing.

She said, “You killed Omenus, for the good of the Angels. A dangerous deed, though one fit for a king.” But then she found that he was to die. She said, crying, “Thank you. Thank you.”

After the Angels had conquered Bond, a funeral was held for both Omenus and Gladious. The queen spoke after the service.

“These two men were the best men ever to walk this world. Omenus, the king of Noff, protected us by his wisdom and understanding of battle and war. Gladious, my son, sacrificed himself for the good of the future of the Angels. There was some evil also, that of killing his father, but only for the good of his future people. We honor him this day for that deed. He knew he was to receive a curse; he knew he was to die. My son is the bravest Angel there ever was, he not only knew he was to die, but he brought himself to murder his own father. I, and you all too, should be grateful for the peace and freedom that he has given us, by his love and his sacrifice.”

After the funeral service came the funeral games. They raced chariots with their white stallions, they tested each other’s speed at running, they held a sword duel tournament, and many other traditions of the Angels celebrated at this great funeral.

The funeral day has since become an Angelic holiday, that of freedom, and of sacrifice.

All of those to come in the future celebrated with great joy, the story of Gladious, of the fateful Angel, of the one who protected Noff by his sacrificial courage.

    Hope you enjoyed
I hope to make more stories in the coming months
