I get it "kid's shouldn't have to hear bad words blah blah blah." They're on the internet, and brawl is obviously not the first mc server they joined. They probably watch countless youtubers that cuss and they have read swears in chat on other servers besides brawl. They heard it all before, stop acting like this is tumblr.

An easy fix to this is remove the filter and fix /ignore. It's been what, two years? Maybe more since I didn't know this server existed before mcpvp went down? This command actually did something besides *blocking* another person that doesn't mean anything? /ignore is used to (surprisingly) ignore annoying people, spammers, advertisers, ect. If someone is swearing and the children all over are saying "wahh stop swering or mai mum will kik me of" they can use /ignore (user) and there you go.

Why not make /ignore and /block do the same thing but give off different information. If a player is IGNORED, on the friendlist have like: "'AnnoyingFriend' is ignored." with orange or whatever color wool. If the player is BLOCKED, the friendlist will remain as it is with the red wool and all that.

This anti-swearing thing wouldn't be much of a problem if the filter wasn't so horrible. If anything in the sentence spells any type of "bad word" it will censor it. Meaning the middle of sentences will be cut off. That's just plain annoying. Along with people always finding ways around the filter by using characters and some cuss words not being censored anyway, what's the point of this filter even being here anymore. Obviously most people (that I have seen) think it's stupid and want it gone.

You see, more problems come from removing the chat filter than benefits.

If we remove the chat filter, we will have an exponentially higher amount of complaints from people that are not strong enough to tolerate the use of bad words.

Also know that kids aren't the only people group that should avoid bad words. A lot of teens now a days have been raised in such a way where bad words didn't exist, and it is beyond a sin to say and/or read one.

You say "most people that you have seen" think it's "stupid" and want it "gone"... Did you even bother to ask people like Staff? The players that like the filter? Why they don't want it gone?

Your solution is just creating more work for players when they don't have to- simply because we already have the filter.
From your prospective, I can see why you might want it gone. But, overall, there is no reason to remove it.

They can just improve the functionality of it and fix ignore.
Having BOTH the chat filter and /ignore will be very helpful.

You're treating this like it's an episode of Blue's Clues.

In my opinion, staff would prefer the chat system removed because they would have more of a chance to do their job better. Mute those who need to be muted. 1/2 the time people don't get muted for bypassing chat filter or just flat out disrespect. This would give them the opportunity to remove toxic players from the community, seeing as they'd be easier to find.

With the ways to bypass the chat filter, it's like there's not even a chat filter. It's a plain out waste of a plugin.

They need to make it so you could toggle it on or off. If you want to be able to see curse words in chat, /togglebypass off.

If you grew up not being able to curse, or a kid that isn't able to see curse words, /togglebypass on.

    Plain and simple.

And please, if the chat filter stays, for the love of god fix how it ****s up your sentence occasionally when including a word in it.

I personally do not like seeing swear words. Although, mild ones like, d*** a** p*** don't bother me. Only the severe ones do. I know MCPVP didn't have swear filter, but Brawl does. I'm glad Brawl has one.

Can we just leave stuff how it is? Stuff like this can get way too complicated, and is often times unnessecary.

The chances of a staff member even noticing swear words in chat without looking is almost impossible.

It's very easy to notice an assortment of asterisks in chat as compared to the actual words. They don't read chat as often as you would think.

If it's almost impossible to notice swear words than why filter them out :>)

That's for a staff member. They're likely dealing with someone on Teamspeak, alt-tabbed out of the game, or focused on a task at hand. The chances they're focusing on chat and only chat are low. We have the filter for people that do focus on chat, such as players on Build.

Why would we remove something that's less than questionable in functionality and purpose for a less than reasonable means?
