why censoring "hitler" and "kkk" doesn't make sense

Damn is supposed to be censored for some unnamed reason, and retard isn't supposed to be censored for another unnamed reason? Your reasoning is pretty bad because all you're saying is that 'no change should happen because everything in place right now has a reason and everything not in place right now is also for a reason'. People will say Hitler because its part of history. Whether people say the name jokingly to describe their friends or insult others, it still exists and censoring it won't stop that.

That's all I got from your post besides you not understanding the point of freedom of speech. There is a reason why I wouldn't want Mein Kampf to be banned across the world. If you do ban the speech you disagree with, you're nothing more than a book burner and are just the same as those who suppress speech because they didn't like it. Aka Hitler, Mao, and others that people tend to vilify.

Your second post at least had some merit, but it supports the OP's point anyways. Imagine an immigrant Chinese mother coming in front of a computer screen and seeing someone saying Mao. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be good for your public image either.

I agree that retard should absolutely be censored and I honestly don't know why it isn't. However, damn is a term used to eternally damn someone to hell. In religious terms that's a terrible insult and should not be taken lightly. As for the names such as Mao, Hitler, etc. being censored, it's a touchy situation due to the fact that some people may be offended, but others may not. Therefore, we try our best to censor what we see constantly being used. Hitler was a term used by many as an insult so it was censored. I've never heard anyone call me a mao.
