Story Outlast

Before reading this story, please note that the following is based upon the survival horror game obviously called Outlast. I tried to write it in my own way:

Get under the skin of Miles Upshur, an investigative reporter whose ambition is about to earn him an intimate tour of hell on earth. Always willing to risk digging into the stories no other journalist would dare investigate, you will seek out the dark secret at the heart of Mount Massive Asylum. One day, you receive an anonymous information revealing barbaric experimentations committed at Mount Massive Asylum, a mental hospital situated in Lake Country's mountains, Colorado which belongs to the Murkoff Corporation, also known for illegal corruptions. The Email is sent by Waylon Park, an engineer working at this asylum:

I did 2 weeks of software consult at Murkoff Psychiatric Systems' facilities in Mount Massive. All sort of NDA's I am very much breaking right now but seriously, **** those guys.

Terrible things happening here. Don't understand it. Don't believe half the things I saw. Doctors talking about dream therapy going too deep, finding something that had been waiting for them in the mountains. People are being hurt and Murkoff is making money.

It needs to be exposed.

Once inside the asylum, Upshur is horrified to see that the ground is scattered with dead bodies, including a dying SWAT officier who advises him to escape while there is still time. Upshur finds patients by examining a bit more where he came to investigate in, these latter are also knows as "Variants", in total freedom antagonistic with regards to him, especially a sadistic gangling fellow called Chris Walker:

Interview Notes:
Walker was interviewed in restraints, following his self-inflicted mutilations. Restraint has had to altered to accommodate his enormous size.

Extensive dermal eruptions as consistent with failed Morphogenic Engine cellular activity. He claims the skin ripped from his forehead allows for a truer way of seeing, seems to have some boyhood experience with Tuatara Lizards and their parietal eyes. He has expressed anxiety about his flesh, specifically around his lips and nose. Attending orderlies should be advised to watch for further self-mutilation.

The mental traumas he sustained while serving in Afghanistan seem to be retarding progression of the M.E Process. His predominant fixation, amplified by therapy, is a manic exaggeration of military security protocol. A continuation of both chemical and physical restraints is highly recommended.

Got in content with Martin Archimbaud, the leader of a cult who sees himself as being a priest, he tells Upshur that he was sent by God to become his personnal witness. Quickly, he understands that father Martin doesn't want him to escape, and that he idolizes an entity known as Walrider.

Just in a week since canceling the parts program, his schizoafective assertions of some "higher calling" have accelerated enormously. Please, het let the man finger paint. The few dollars you're saving on temper paint is more than swallowed the logic at play here, unless Murkoff WANTS our patients to become more disengaged from reality.

Fallen into the trap inside, Upshur must investigate the asylum seeking for a way out, and escaping from the Variants. After being saved by a freight elevator, he's caught by his so-called savior, a going wild patient called Richard Trager. Trager is a "doctor" who experiments abominations on patients. He ties Upshur on a wheelchair and amputates two of his fingers. Left for a short time, Miles succeeds in escaping Trager owing to an elevator. Grabbed by Triger while the elevator is still in motion, a struggle ensues which finally comes out as the doctor's death, crushed between the elevator and the upper floor blocking the cubicle. Upshur meets again father Martin but this time with The Walrider. Miles can only see this latter when the camcorder's night vision is up. After that, he reaches an auditorium where there is a film. There, he learns that The Walrider has been created by Dr. Rudolf Gustav Wernicke, a german scientist who was in charge by the Paperclip Operation.

Rudolf G. Wernicke

Dr. Rudolf G. Wernicke, age 90, passed away doing the work he loved on February 28th, 2009. He was born in 1918 in Munich, Germany, and achieved fame in the mathematic and scientific communities pioneer Alan Turning. After a cloudy history with the German war effort, he emigrated to the United States in 1949 with a visa from the State Department. Several decades of government research in Los Alamos led to New Mexico, where Dr. Wernicke retired to pursue landscape photography and care for his cats. He came to Colorado shortly after the turn if the millennium to pursue charitable work for the Murkoff Corporation. A Statement from the company calls Dr. Wernicke "a true humanitarian with a generous spirit". He leaves no survivors.

There, he is told by a neutral Variant that he can find father Martin in the church. He goes to the church to witness Martin's death by self-immolation. In front of Martin's body, Miles finds the key for the elevator that he has previously fixed in order to get out of this place. However, things don't turn out as expected as he descends into a underground laboratory. Tracked by Chris Walker again, Upshur witnesses Walker's own death by The Walrider. After that, he finds Dr. Wernicke who is supposed to be dead:

Billy asked about the status of his mother's lawsuit against Murkoff and the asylum. This represents a catastrophic breach in security, despite Billy's claims that he discovered the truth 'in the blood dreams of Doctor Trager.' (Note: the only Trager on company records, one Richard Trager, is an executive from M.R.D.) All orderlies and security personnel must be questioned and video security improved to include analytical biometrics.

Receiving orders to stop Billy's life support. Upshur succeeds, but he's grabbed by The Walrider, weak and without any host, The Walrider therefore enters in Miles' body. About to die, he stumbles towards the exit where a military party led by Wernicke shoots on him. Miles falls on the ground, and Wernicke points out that Miles Upshur has become the host, killing patients and terrorizing Mont Massive Asylum.

The end.
This was my first story, so there may be mistakes or inconsistencies.

I have made a big mistake the first time, as I shared an idea for Brawl which was not mine, I'm aware of that. But the "other" forums section has nothing to do with Brawl's ideas, suggestions, gamemodes etc. So I don't know why I should be blamed for copyrighting the documents from the website which @YumKaax previously wrote. This forums section is a part of the "off-topic", so I believe everyone should be allowed to copy and paste things, as it won't affect Brawl in general, unlike the first copyrighted thread which make me shameful.
