    The morning I heard about this I was really in shock. Who could do such a thing? My thoughts are with the people involved.

    Hate to get into politics, but the issue isn't the guns. It's the crazy people :frowning:

    I also hate to get into politics, but if you're going to get into politics, it's the exceptionally easy access crazy people get to guns.

    Yeah
    You pass the original background check
    And more are implemented
    These new updated ones are more thorough and vigorous

    Consider the following 2 scenarios

    Scenario 1:
    2 men go to buy guns.
    One is sane, one is not.
    The background checks and mental health screenings are not very thorough.
    They both get guns.
    The insane man kills 12 people and himself
    13 people die.

    Scenario 2
    2 men go to buy guns.
    One is sane, one is not.
    They both pass original background checks and mental health screening, but thanks to recently passed laws which make them more thorough, the insane man is exposed as a psychopath and put in a mental hospital.
    However, the sane man gets to get his gun because he is sane.
    Nobody dies, and sane man gets his gun.

    There is literally no reason to not increase mental health screenings.
