Removing Sheriffs

I think you're misunderstanding the point of sheriffs. More often than not, it's one or two sheriffs against an entire team. Sheriffs were originally meant to be OP (which they aren't anymore). In fact, they are quite underpowered compared to a team of full ds.

brb, checking facts. *later* Ok, here they are. 6 days ago, @Mario posted a list of 11 sheriffs demoted for inactivity. Incidentally, Jaet was on that list. So in actuality, yes, sheriffs are demoted for inactivity and no, Jaet is no longer a sheriff.

Of course they don't have the best gear. They get it for free!

 

Which is exactly why I suggested that they have a higher payout for catching bandits with illegal items.

I don't get why people think that the fact sheriffs get free gear is a big deal. How does that affect them? Their sole purpose is to stop people from doing illegal actions. If their gear is UP, how does the fact that it's free affect them? Sure, they can keep coming back with their gear, but so can any player that's rich enough. It's not supposed to be "fair," it's supposed to be balanced, which is isn't.

 

You also clearly don't know the facts. Mario has recently given us a list in slack of the demoted sheriffs. And how do you know that serine and jaet still have a sheriff rank? Did you check?

Interesting what would happen if devs accepted both this and Rogue System made by Grapplings. At least they may say they did Rogue System without doing anything, but in theory they did twice.


Just improve Wild West with Grapplings' ideas, also add drugs to WarZ with economy and these both servers will look similar... but I had reasons why I didn't like WarZ, so you might work out, Grapplings, what I think of this idea.

 

Here's some tips when dealing with sheriffs.

When you're processing drugs, it's a good idea to have a horse by your side so you can store your drugs or anything else illegal in it if you see a sheriff or even a regular player. Remember to send your horse to the stable, because sheriffs can search your horse.

If you're going to kill a sheriff it's important that you're well equipped to do so. Diamond armor and illegal weapons such as the T-Gewehr are recommended. T-Gewehrs are capable of one-shotting sheriffs. Also, team work is great for killing sheriffs. A small team as little as 2 players is enough to overwhelm a sheriff. With a good sized team, you don't even need diamond armor to kill a sheriff. Remember, sheriffs can't shoot first.
After you've killed a sheriff, it's best to not stay in the area where you killed them, because that sheriff will be back, likely with reinforcements. Also, you're KOS (kill on sight) to every sheriff in the game for the next 5 minutes. Get as far away from the area as you can. You could run away for 5 minutes, but a sheriff might get you eventually. What you could do is find an inconspicuous location, logout, and take a 5 minute break. When you log back on and if a reboot hasn't happened, you'll still be labeled rogue, but sheriffs can't kill you on sight anymore.
If you do plan on staying in the area where you killed the sheriff, if it's not a rebel base, well, you're screwed. If it is a rebel base, go up into one of the towers on the four corners of the base. This is what sheriffs hate the most, tower campers. You could go all the way to the top, but I've heard that the middle is the best place. You could kill a bunch of sheriffs while in the tower, but eventually you're going to get killed, unless the sheriffs give up.
