I was working on a model that I wanted to convert into a JSON file for usage in a resource pack. Here it is:
I spent a ton of time on the model, and it's done, but I cannot seem to get the model to work ingame. There is one option I have, but that would take far too long (manually convert it over to a 1.8 item format), especially considering the sheer number of elements I used to create it.

So I've got a few questions for those who are more experienced with the new model format than me:
    1. What model maker do you use to create 3D models for Minecraft? I needed something simple and free, so I used the model maker provided by MrCrayFish. I wish I could use the pro version of BDCraft Cubik, but I do not currently have money to spend on that. If there was another free alternative that could create items, that would be very useful.
    2. Is there a way to convert the current JSON I have into the proper JSON for 1.8? (other than manually changing everything myself)
I have noticed that the format for my model seems to be different compared to other JSON formats, but because of my inexperience regarding JSON, I honestly have no idea what to do at this point.

I don't want to ditch this model, especially considering the amount of time I put into it. If I cannot get past this issue, that would suck as it's the last thing keeping me from getting it ingame.

If this helps, here is the JSON file created by the program.

Hosted via dropbox because pasting it here screws up the formatting.

And yes, I have looked online, to no avail. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place...

    *repost from rollback*
I spent some time making models and learned a few things about it, if you want I can take a look at your model.

    That would be nice.
    Here's a link to the JSON: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v6yt41e9gmpys7m/M16.json?dl=0
Is there any way to convert this to different formats for different minecraft versions?

1.8 and 1.9 has no conversion needed, exept for player positioning, first you need to resize your gun, it's too big and it won't render in minecraft. Limit the size to a maximum of 3x3x3 block area

will do. is there anything else I need to do to make it work in 1.8, or is that all I need to do? I noticed the formats were different compared to other 3D models in resource packs.

Generally, its the same format, it just look different because some text might be positioned diferently. There is no difference between 1.8 and 1.9 in term of "format". You can use a model for both 1.8 and 1.9. There is 1 difference tho and that is you might have to redo the positions for the item to show up correctly in your hand.
