I think that scoping in and out by punching is clumsy, and that there are better alternatives. I think that scoping should be holding down the "E" button, and cancelling the inventory open event. After all, we don't need an inventory. Just make sure ammo defaults to hotbar and you're fine. With the current way it's set up, scoping isn't the way it should be.

    ZOMG. YOUR POST HELPED EVERYTHING.

Seriously? Removing the whole inventory just for scoping? lolno.
There are better alternatives, yes, but removing the whole inventory is not one of them.

Change your attack button to the button you want to scope with. In normal PC FPS games, you usually right click to scope in and out, and in some cases, like snipers, after you shoot it zooms back out. Depending on the gun and game, of course.

Yes, just change your key setups on your game. It is a little silly but it does work and if it really does bother you than there is your answer.

Guys, I really don't think he wants the scope button to be 'E', he's saying you could use the inventory for scoping and just retexture it as a scope. It's a good idea, but they will have to make ammo default to the hotbar and make grenades/molotovs actually stack when you buy them more than once. There won't really be much of a use for the inventory if this is done. You'd have to find some way to make the player in the black box go away though, I'm not sure if you can just simply fix that with a texture pack.

Not really. Why not remove the inventory. In black ops 2, you have to hold down the button to keep scope, which creates the ability to quick scope. Sometimes, I just want to scope in for a second to make sure that I have my aim right. The inventory would still be functional outside of games, but really, inside a game, what do you need your inventory for?

Some times when you spawn you are missing a item (Like grenades if you have them) and the way I get them back is by cliking on the spot were they should be in my inventory.

Maybe shift could be scope and by hitting it, you get a very close PoV.
