Is raid dead

Several theories:

- No Youtubers to advertise or bring more people on
- Staff complaints/perceived false bans (I'm not for or against, but this is what I've heard)
- Lag at the beginning (and still occasionally)
- No purchasable ranks or boosts
- Most of the player base moved on
- Map too small/too easy to make a full map tracker
- Few events
- Very little programming support
- Stacking wrecked game mechanics, like villager trading/breeding
- No visible plan to bring in new players, get revenue from existing players, and prevent the loss of players
- Fall/Back to School
- X-Raying
- Obby in The End is not mineable, which used to be a major source of tracker material
- Spawn design not well received
- Map version 1.8 when the vast majority of minecraft players are on 1.10
- Death messages disabled by default, so it appears like no PVP happens
- Shop is broken for some items; For instance, selling pots might not result in them being in the shop. Also fat-fingering the price when selling an item can result in the item disappearing
- Lack of brawl support for this game mode

That covers most of it, if I missed anything let me know.

And @0racle I hope it doesn't sound like I'm being a complainer- if I hated the game mode I would have left- but those issues mentioned either are bugs, concerns, or perceptions of the player base. And not everything needs to be fixed, but my #1 beef is the lack of boosts. I think they would help retain players, give people a reason to invite people to the server and form huge teams, and provide income to pay for fixing the server bugs.

 

I have heard your comments and concerns, and believe me I care just as much if not more about this than you. I agree 100%

 

Yesterday, I saw 23 players on. Pretty good, considering many of our servers can't handle more than 50 players.

 

So this brings up an interesting point. How old are the servers? And is their hardware still appropriate to be a minecraft server? My guess is the average age of the servers is 3-4 years, which in server age is ancient. I'm also curious if they use platter or solid state drives; if they are that old and have platter drives then the performance could definitely be explained.

 

I was never a big raid player, but it is sad to see a server die out like raid has.

 

I think it's also mainly because of the ip change and noobs think it shut down. It used to be pvp.brawl.com

 

Yeah, there are these "low information" players who don't have a clue about the forums and just randomly play on the server.
Same thing could be said about Brawl losing a large number of players after the EULA blacklist. They thought, "rip, the server died" and never came back.

 

When your description says "active member" and you're going in inactive. :/

Most servers today still use platter drives today. It would be better if a small server like Brawl just upgraded their storage capacity using regular hard drives. It would be a lot cheaper and more effective. Yes, SSD's are faster and more durable, but the only servers that need to upgrade to SSD's are big businesses like Google who need faster storage devices that can keep up with their server processors, something that Hard Drives can't deliver.

 

Preach. My main issues are, for starter, spawn doesn't represent what SURVIVAL PVP is, they changed it to raid just to appease the already gone mcpvpers that played it, map is too small, the end isn't fully fuctional, the death messages use to show when there's pvp action going on, lack of support, and the version is getting outdated, upgrade to 1.10 with 1.8 pvp if possible. Also bring back voting.

 

Yes raid is dead .....so is brawl in general ᵈᵘᵐ ˢᵗᵃᶠᶠ

 

Is this one really needed? I realize we didn't do the best job with raid at first, but we tried and Oracle is still trying. Mario is still trying. We haven't forgotten about you. Heck, I'm even creating a book for raid to try to bring it some popularity. Raid will bounce back if we keep at it, so please stay patient.
